Saying you won game 1 "without obliterator" is a disgrace towards the Obliterator. The sole reason you didn't die turn 5 is the Obliterator. Literally won the game by just being on the board. The zombies were just a pleasant extra. But the game was 100% won by the Obliterator alone.

As usual, I play three games of this tonight and hit control 3 times in a row. I switch to one of my control decks and then I hit 2 red decks and one mono white humans. I'd like to know how this matchmaking is happening behind the scenes.
Oh man, just done watching that first game vs mono-white. Seemed pretty hopeless but Obliterator (and maybe Gix Command top deck) saved the day. Very cool deck! Would the Bloodletter of Aclazotz not have been a pretty good card to add? Might be a little bit too mainstream though ;) Edit: Not the only game where Gix gets to Command another win, lol.
Yep, Gix Command definitely did heavy lifting today - card that I might start using more :) Obliterator was also usually the only reason that we couldn't get attacked - love combination with Innistrad - finally way to force some value when they are afraid to block :) Bloodletter is nice, but we would need to trade our 4 drops for it, so imho both Sheo and Obliterator are better here. Bloodetter is great for aggro decks for this turn 4 final swing :)
Indeed, I calculated the whole situation, cross-checked possible outcomes with history of all games in standard (like a budget Dr Strange) - and finally decided to topdeck this Gix Command - it seemed like a strong call on my side. 😂🤷♂️🦥❤ Glad you enjoyed it my man :)
I mean we got cavern of souls, which makes every creature in standard uncounterable if you want it - it's not even a tech, just a land providing mana of 5 colours 🤷♂️ But of course I also get why it can be super frustrating to play against control :) I'm mostly not fan of mono red as it doesn't really encourage any decisions, on top of heavily limiting fun decks that we could test on channel - but it's just my opinion of course :) Cheers!❤🦥

Nice in a soldier or elf tribal deck I guess, but perhaps not the answer in ranked play and in my preferred colours black and/or green. But I'm always on the lookout for tips against u/w control, sideboard guides etc. U/W control is imo the fun police of MtG, with an abundance of sweepers, OP Emperor and durdling behind negative counterspells to say No! to positive play, and let's dump some passive enchantments on the board that win the game by themselves. But to each his own of course. Btw Sloth kudos for your deck tips! Last season I took on of your BO1 Golgari decks to mythic, and currently enjoying this mono black in BO1.

I still think you generally want early game classic removal - innistrad is here a value card, doubling as potential midgame removal. Overal, it is a very strong card
I just enjoy playing those games :) Often I don't see lethal, as I'm too focused on making some cool plays/explaining situation :) Also keep in mind commentary takes a lot of focus, so easy to miss stuff in game sometimes

Perhaps once or twice but it surely is not very commonly used. The other I thought it might be would be Life of Toshiro .. but checking what it is -- yep that I see occasionally and it's not "insane".. More like versatile and a safe bet to bring some value.. IoI seems fun for sure - I wondered why I had not thought of including it in mono black - but perhaps it's because I have none in my collection.. Could craft it of course but I'm not sure if it's that good.
@@SlothMtg Well - the IofIs frontside is weaker than The End .. Bakside is -- only worth attacking in grindy decks.. Unless of course the opponent has played The One Ring or something like that.. But why not build around it to really maximise it's value.. Say you play Scrollshifts to double the frontside and use what was those cards that removed 5 or 3 counters to get it flipped at "discount"? Heartless act for 3, but Price of Betrayal or Render Inert for 5 .. Render Inert is even a cantrip and standard legal..
