Hi mate I wanting to do the same sort of thing with my BMpro using victron gear. The question I want to ask is can I use any brand of shunt or do I use a bmpro shunt.

That depends on what device you want to use as your battery monitor. If you want the bmpro to be your battery monitor then you need the bmpro shunt.
