    What are some toys that have been well-loved for your toddler?! ❤

      Magnet tiles are a must in our household. My husband and I play with them a lot too 😂👍🏻

      @@emilyteffer4139Yes!! Our kids love it SO much. It’s one of those toys that isn’t really necessary haha but if you’re on the fence about it our kids have gotten great use out of it!

      My 17 mo old son loves his wagon! I love that I can use it for toy storage too. I was going to wait until 2 to get my son magnitiles but I guess I'll get them sooner! And Sarah's silks. My son also loves balls. I was a little surprised tonies or yoto player wasn't on the list but I plan to get for my son's 2nd bday 😊

    Could you do a video on how you do the toy rotations? I would love to see that!

    Thank you for all these great ideas, I am a first time mom and my baby is currently 2 months and can’t wait to introduce her to these type of toys as she gets older and even now introduce her to some items. I am also a first grade teacher and a lot of the stuff you talk about I see it as important as part of a child’s development. In my classroom I didn’t have a kitchen but I did buy kitchen food and a register and couldn’t believe how much my students loved that and would play with it. The sorting and tiles/blocks are also great and saw most my students also loved it and use their imagination. 😄

    How do you handle getting "unwanted" toys from family? I'm blessed that my kids have loving grandparents and aunts and uncles but they buy a lot of battery operated light up stuff that I feel guilty getting rid of.

      Let them know you don't use those sorts of toys. I let my family know from the beginning and I remind them. (If they gift them accept gracefully of course) But if they don't see it at your house or the kids playing with it respectfully remind them.

    Loved seeing all of the toy options you have for your kiddos, Beth! I would love to know how you handle gifting from family & friends while keeping your toy selection minimal and fitting within the categories that are important to you. I feel that many people want to gift the big, flashy toys that don’t leave much room for imaginative play. Do you have this conversation before birthdays and ask for no gifts? Something I would love for you to expand on if you have an opportunity 🙂

      Here in the Netherlands it is pretty common to say what gift you would like and many people even send their family and friends a list of gifts they want. That way you hopefully get what you asked

    Love this list! This may be a separate category but don't forget plenty of books!! My baby has always loved flipping through her books and pointing at pictures:) I almost always buy them second hand, fits our budget better.
    And I just want to add...maybe I'm the only one who gets desperate when the baby/toddler is at my feet when I need to get something done in the kitchen...but don't underestimate how well non-breakable dishes, wooden spoons, et cetera can be a good distraction when you're in a bind 😅

    as a music therapist I approve of the music set you purchased. There are so many obnoxious kids musical instruments out there be it the light up electronic ones(I despise these) And just plastic or cheaply made ones and xylophones that aren't even tuned correctly. The ones you go look sturdy and functional👏👏👏👏

    THANK YOU for saying they only need 12 toys! I love that you acknowledge that as a mom. I always feel so in shock at how many toys moms have. I am glad you rotate things too. I never had many toys for my kids at all, and they were able to be creative because of it, especially my second child who is very artsy-fartsy, though the first one is too but doesn't apply them. I only have about 7 toys for my 9 month old and people don't get it, but he has favorites he'll play with for a while.
    I love that you talked about sourcing and avoiding the dollar store. That's really good. People thought I was crazy when I said such things 17 years ago with my oldest! Like, "What? Sourcing? What's that." I am glad it is a more known term now. I'm not a fan of the boxes you get every month. We did a box when my oldest two were about 6 and 8, which as a minimalist family did not work out too well, so we cancelled after two boxes. They would play with maybe one item in the box, so I found it better to choose a toy they'd play with instead of getting a subscription box, but I understand you are getting a commission and I hope you receive them.
    It must be nice to have a little girl who wants to have a baby doll. I had a baby doll (named "Baby Doll" even) as a little girl I brought everywhere with me until I was 4. It was my only toy until then! Wooden toys and play-doh is my favorite!! Thanks for this video. It was great.

      P.S. My kids loved building blocks. They transitioned to LEGOs which they would play with for hours and hours and needed no other toys. Thankfully that is the only toy of theirs we kept so we can use it for my baby when he grows older.

    These are exactly the goals I strive to have for my daughter’s toys! I’m afraid that she will become overloaded with toys from constantly getting them as gifts. Any advice or guidance on how to share these priorities with family who want to spoil your kiddos?

    • @Kay.D.N
      @Kay.D.N 9 місяців тому +2

      I’ve learned it’s not worth the stress and constant conversations so better to just accept the gifts graciously and then rehome what your child isn’t interested in. I really hate when people waste their money, but I have provided a current wishlist for every holiday and it’s rarely used unfortunately. There are just too many toys to keep them all regardless.

    Where is your toy shelf from?

  • @TinaPorreca-MLO
    @TinaPorreca-MLO 4 місяці тому +1

    No! Some kids that are delayed get really stuck on using cars and don’t want to do anything else. It doesn’t help build language and interacting with others. Toys with pieces where you can work with something else is best.

      @MysteryExodus I thought the same thing for my little boy. Then, we used a doll for potty training, and he loves pretending with the baby doll. He's very rough and tumble, but the baby doll has helped him learn to be gentle in a "manly" way. 😊 It's also helped him know how to interact with his baby sister.
