It’s such a precious opportunity and experience that you learn to do every single thing for yourself. Its a fantastic job you have done! We have absolutely enjoyed watching the video. Oh god the slems hall rooms are giving me flashbacks!! It used to smell of sweaty boys and weed there. Lol i used to live in st gabriels hall (all girls) back 2003-2006 and st anselms hall was our brother hall so we always socialise and have events with them. My best friends till this day are from slems. :)
omg I love ur yt channel!!!! As someone who's debating manchester (purely because of my offer and ur amazing manch vlogs!!!) do you happen to have more clips of selms? I know you're not in the uk anymore, but any vids/photos of the bathrooms, dining hall and showers etc? Currently trying to decide between selms (the atmosphere and the social vibe totally match mine!!!) And ashburne hall !! :)
I’m so glad you enjoy the vlogs! Unfortunately I’ve gone through my photo roll, messages and asked friends, and none of us have any photos/videos of the bathrooms/dining hall. The bathrooms are relatively new- good water pressure in the showers and cleaned twice a week by cleaning staff. The dining hall is kind of old (but in a charming way)- kind of set up like hogwarts with three long stretches of table and a table at the head where the tutors, staff and jcr committee sits. If you have any other questions, I’d be more than happy to help :)
Ahhh I'm sorrryyyyy. The overall size of the UK compared to Aus is a bit confusing, because you can have two cities with major musicals like a 2 hour train ride apart vs a 12 hour drive apart 😅😅
After having a look on their website, it looks like they don't offer any options for families. However, I would suggest emailing to discuss your options (accommodation@manchester.ac.uk). Perhaps you could also seek off-campus accommodation options also. Best of luck!
The university of Manchester seems great and that's where I hope to go when I am older. I noticed there isny much space for clothes 😂 Two more years and I hope to go to Manchester
Awww study hard and best of luck!! I thought that the closet was pretty reasonably sized ahaha (my friends had smaller), but then again I was only there for half a year.
I would say that St Anselm hall was reasonably diverse while I was there. These are some VERY rough estimates, but I would say that the local to international ratio was about 50:50, and that of the international students, the ratio of european to non-european was about 60:40 (this could change drastically now due to brexit). Most of the non-european international/exchange students are chinese or south/south-east asian. There were also some central asian, american, south-american and australian students, but not that many. I think that there wasn't that much ethnic diversity in local students, however. In terms of gender, I would say that it was roughly balanced- didn't notice any significant imbalance. Hope that was helpful! Good Luck for September!!
For exchange or for normal uni? I enjoyed my time at Manchester (I made a video on my exchange experience which is a bit more in depth). The uni itself- the facilities are pretty good, really enjoyed living in a uni hall and meeting new people, teaching is just luck of the draw really. Manchester, the city- not the greenest which I would appreciate more of (but close to the peak district national park!), city centre is reasonably small in my opinion, but it's a very liveable city. Ultimately, I think it's the people that make the place, and I was lucky enough to meet a number of lovely people :)
I don't think I ever went into a "super single room", but I believe the only difference is that it is a larger room. My room was just a normal single room.
Yes, every weekday night is a "formal" dinner with gowns. You don't have to wear gowns for breakfasts, brunch on saturday or dinners on sunday. And even though they're called formal dinners, you can still wear very casual clothes under your gown.
Dear Old World i cant believe you responded i love your channel soo much, i really want to go to manchester as well so your chanel was really handy thank you.
Of course! Always feel free to comment, because I'm more than likely to reply!! Thank you so much for your kind words and I'm really glad you've found my videos helpful xx

@@DearOldWorld I'm staying at Whitworth! Where is Slems?
@@amrithafoustine3630 oh cool, I know a couple of people who are staying at Whitworth, so close to uni!!! Slems is part of the Victoria park campus :)
@@DearOldWorld Oh I see, I'm still getting used to the place. How are you finding it so far? Isn't this really weird and yet also cool?

Love your videos! Thinking of starting Manchester in September, what’s the diversity like at St Anselm hall - ethnicity, int students and gender?

no I’m actually living with my boyfriend 😭
Is it St. Anselm Hall? The room looks very different from the pictures online.
Yes this is St. Anselm Hall. There are a few different wings within the hall, so the rooms can differ between the different areas.
@@DearOldWorld ah thank you so much! do u known the difference between the single room and a super single room? if so do you know which one was yours?
