UPDATE:
AdmiralDT8 has since taken down the original fanfiction and replaced it with a rewrite that is honestly wayyy better than the original and by a long shot. This video will still be kept up for historical and archival purposes. He has also began listening to criticism, even asking me and several others for advice. I'll leave a link to the rewritten one down below and, whilst Loyalty Among Worlds 2.0 won't be the subject of my next review, it will be soon once season one is complete.

Hey, i see you on all things darrel related. Nice to know you like content like this as well. (I love bad fanfic in a "thanks i hate it" way. Unless it's so bad it's funny, such as the infamous My Immortal or Starkit's prophesy.
There's nothing wrong with making a self insert in my opinion, but making them flawless is not a sign of strong writing. Like at least make one flaw for your character to overcome.
Honestly, I think a Mary Sue-ish self-insert with zero character flaws is a _very_ common thing for amateur fanfiction authors to write.
I normally don’t like using the term Mary Sue for OCs because it’s usually done to put people down but Darrel is a Mary Sue! He is immediately good at magic and has no character flaws

That whole Anne X Darryl thing reminds me of that Mariah Carey Song "Obsessed"
Darryl is obsessed with Anne but she DOESN'T do nothing to apart him from her.
This fanfic is pretty cheesy on its own, but the fact that Daryl is a 30 year old man awkwardly inserting himself into the show and giving the insert a crush on Anne and Sasha is just weird. Edit: I remember my brother showing me this guy's Amphibia art when we were 13 and the show was brand new. I thought that the art was just really corny and moved on with life.

The bit with Anne’s mom punishing Darrel is so weird cause like, even though only season one was out at the time and Mrs Boonchuey only had one offscreen speaking appearance in a flashback, and there’s it’s only kinda implied she sorta strict with Anne, most rational people would at least blame both Darrel and Sasha, cause he told her Sasha dine and dashed on him and Anne’s mom would definitely be able to contact her and her parents so like what’s the deal? (Unless it was done so the whole “Anne tends Darrel’s knife wound by holding his hand” scene could happen😔)

I read the original and there was so much singing. Darrel was always in the right and always took Anne’s spotlight. I mean, I literally read the whole thing😭 (helped with anxiety though, but I guess cringy and goofy scenes in stories can do that lol)

As someone who stopped reading this fic after the fifth chapter, I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to do this. I assumed it was going to basically be a straight adaptation of the fic with his OCs inserted in and yeah... with a few exceptions that's basically what it is.
For me, one of the funniest takeaways from this is that none of his chapters managed to break a 5/10 or higher. Somehow I feel this trend is going to continue for the rest of the fic, I would be very surprised if any of his chapters break that middle threshold.
Secondly, another funny takeaway was the fact that he skipped over "Hop-popular" despite that not being a filler episode, and as you pointed out its plot was pretty important for season one of Amphibia, and the whole reason that Sasha was even doing this whole scheme.
Finally, the "chicken beak" comment had me laughing. Oh my god I replayed that moment so many times, the kiss looks so weird and unnatural and just....uggghh!

The Darrel & Clipper bonding chapter just sounds like the Hiccup & Toothless bonding scene in HTTYD...
I never actually watched HTTYD so I did not catch that.

(Infodump Incoming) Clipper pukes up the milkweed and encourages Darrel to eat it, Toothless regurgitates part of a fish and encourages Hiccup to eat it (Both of which, I assume, they do begrudgingly and with a bit of disgust. I haven't read that fanfic, so I don't know). The drawing of Darrel holding his hand out to Clipper is very reminiscent of when Hiccup did the same, that's the confirmation of their bond. Here's where I reach a little: The first ride with Clipper, where Darrel falls into the water. Albeit with different context, Hiccup also falls into the water the first time he rides Toothless. The rides with Anne feel like a rehash of Hiccup's rides with Astrid (Hiccup's love interest), those rides with Astrid develop and progress their relationship. Those are the similarities that were obvious, I might follow-up if I remember anything else. The deliveries were the only real difference I noticed, but even then, Hiccup and Toothless also helped their village. Just thought I should chime in, since that was the chapter you complimented for being original. Sorry for the essay, bro. Much love :)

Pretty fun show
Season 1 is like season 1 of Gravity Falls. Fun with lore happening in the background and occasionally the main episode with a shift in tone in the finale.
Season 2 and 3 is when things start to turn up.

There’s nods to it as well. IE Bill Cipher in a book in the season 2 finale.

The voices you made to imitate the characters were interesting. The corny voices do fit the corny dialogue well.
A long time ago, I would’ve made a couple defense rants and say that the story was great, but now, I find the story just decent at best and the only defense I’d really make is that some of Cronaxx’s quotes weren’t that bad in my opinion.
Last thing, if you do plan in reading his sequel, Sorcerer’s of Signal Hill, which is unlikely, just know that he fixed the whole “New Speaker, New Line” problem.

I just know him as the guy who failed at making a Loud House x Far Cry 3 crossover fanfiction. He literally just retold the exact story of Far Cry 3 beat for beat and Just changed Jason Brody's name to Bobby Santiago. Like literally he didn't do anything different than the real Jason Brody. It's like someone was just playing the game with a Bobby skin. I actually told him this and if I remember correctly he actually took it well and thanked me for the advice 🤷 so I guess he's nit such a bad guy. I really don't know much about him I just know he's kind of a bad writer.

Your video editig is much better then thr last time. Your voice is loud and clear and the background music is well intergrated (the volume can be a bit lower, but it is just a personal preference). The pacing of the video is great and the overwall quality is nice. I would love to see the next part, it may take time, but i am sure it will be worth the wait. Great video, keep it up!

One thing that’s driving me crazy is that he CONSTANTLY swaps tenses. You learn from a pretty young age to not do that in writing, even the dumb stories I wrote in elementary school didn’t do this. Also, he’s really gotta tone down the cheesy speeches oh my god. Stop giving this man fortune cookies.
40:10 Pause. This actually could be a good use of characterization. Having two parents who aren't home, forcing him to be a pseudo parent to his siblings, means he'll have to grow up faster to look after them, which is not a bad idea. Wonder how he will mess this up😂

Supposedly he's going to try and "improve the fic" but I don't see how. I suppose he can fix the spelling and grammar errors, but that will only improve the structure of the fic. Unless he's going to make a lot of writing changes I don't see the quality of the fic improving at all.
@@ChampionElCid I do know that he had several plot holes like Cronaxx mentioning having a sister in season 1 and then she’s not mentioned in season 2 and it’s revealed Cronaxx has a brother, someone in the comments told Darrel about this plot hole so he put Cronaxx’s sister in season 3 and he revealed that he forgot about that plot thread explaining why she wasn’t mentioned in season 2

it's still creepy as hell tho bc name change or no, its still the same dude writing it, and the stain of the original is just that, a stain. it isn't something to be proud of, it's gross and weird. it has actively ruined the show for some people. the fact that the entire amphibia and owl house fandom can agree on, from what I've seen, is that no one likes admiraldt8 and the positive feedback he does get is because he filters comments. reading his work, honestly, left me with a sickness in my stomach. as if there was something viscerally wrong with it. maybe it was the context. maybe it was because he has drawn images of Anne pregnant, with his self insert's baby. which means he lusts for her bc he thought about that to begin with. he is 30. i could say more but I'll leave it at this: I would not recommend Admiraldt8's works for anyone unless they want something to laugh and or cringe at.
I highly suggest you do some volume leveling/tweaking for future videos. Your voice is rather soft and overshadowed by the background music, and every time I increase the volume, the joke scream clips and sound effects just kill my ears. Not really a big deal if this was a short format video, but for a one hour long video, it really becomes annoying after a while.
Aside from that, thank you for reviewing the fan fic! Its something I've been told by my friends to check out for shits and giggles, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Really enjoy the humor in this review as well!

God, I swear this is inspiring me to write my own version of this FanFiction where I am the main character and I constantly complain how contrived the plot is. Plus, there will be no shipping between me and the teenaged characters because…I’m a twenty year old man and anyone who ships themselves with fictional characters who are underaged is just messed up. Like WTF!!
Also, my version of Cronaxx would speak more gibberish that he thinks is wisdom but it is just inane bullshit
I think music in a fanfic can work, it just needs to be done properly. I use a few songs in mine occasionally and I try to have it be that the music enhances the mood. Other artistic mediums use music so I feel fanfics/literature can use it too. Though sometimes without the melody it doesn't feel quite right, but that's why I feel copyrighted songs can help in that regard since you can play them in the background while you read the fic.
In Darrel's case though having "Thriller" play during the zombie sequence does nothing to enhance the mood and is just an excuse for him to have a dance number.

I've read the rewrite and it's actually pretty good and a great improvement in my opinion.
I'm gonna say this: if you ever want to make a fourth calamity trio member it has to be a girl that is just how the dynamic works between the girls and you can't fit a boyish character in there who isn't like Sasha who enjoys feminine things

It’s weird that Cronaxx is an axolotl yet looks nothing like Loggle or any other axolotl, he should have been a mudpuppy which kind of resemble axolotls but aren’t
Do you even know what an axolotl looks like? The only thing off is that he should cut down on the little things that stick out to the side and give them more detail, before you reply to this please look at different axolotl types

It's the same thing here. Does Admiral _really_ believe the readers want to see his character absorb attention/praise from the main trio and get the most powerful magics from the get go? Where is he gonna get his stakes or struggles after that? The ship he's duct taping together with himse- I mean DARREL and the protagonist? 😂 HA!
You can still do that for a public story but you do have to earn it. Making you characters likable or at least readable

I'm here so often because there are sadly few "loyalty among worlds" readings on youtube, because i don't wanna read it myself in it's full, but still want context. I also just kinda love bad fanfic in a "thanks, i hate it" way. Unless it's funny bad, such as My Immortal or Starkit's prophecy. I feel like you deserve an award or compensation or something for wading through the cringe for our entertainment, so if you want some funny content, i recommend Mst3k, soothouse, sorrowtv, kurtis connor, danny gonzalez, drew gooden, and jarvis johnson. Nothing like comedy to drown out the cringe.
