You're certainly welcome. I never know if I have anything useful to say for others, and as a result I used to have stagefright before public speaking appearances for my books. I got over it by using the prayer Bill Thetford was given, "I am here only to be truly helpful." Then I realized that it was that intention that mattered, not my knowledge of anything...

I’m about at the part ( around 20.00) where Patrick is saying we need the ego to function in the world. Actually that’s not true. When the ego is undone, the Holy Spirit takes over and functions. Life goes on as before, but with much more clarity and awarenessThere is unbroken joy and compassion is immediate and encompasses all. Mundane tasks get taken care of as if on auto-pilot. Remember, Jesus had no ego and he continued to function, to travel, to teach, eat, put on clothes etc. Pursah told Gary Renard when she appears to him, she feels a little something, just enough to function ( I paraphrase). She identifies as the Holy Spirit which means she to has no ego.
I know the spot. That insight peaked my attention too. Do we need the Ego to function in the world? I guess it all depends on what we mean by "function" and what we mean by "world". and even what we mean by "Ego." I resonate with your perspective and feel the same way. While at the same time, I can see where Patrick came from, and the set of premises that he was relying on. The analogy I am taking from all this is that simply you can't be in two states of mind at the same time. You are either in your Ego or you are in your higher self mind. But you can't be in both places at the same time. Love and Ego don't mix. Huge thanks for sharing from the heart and taking the time to express this beautiful teaching.
