    I am 60+ 2 weeks out from surgery and I am watching your videos because you are so positive. I have a 3 week vacation planned for Europe in the fall. I plan on touring all day through old cities on cobblestones plus dancing and doing all the things. .My surgeon says 9 months and I should be great but due to being over 60 I am going to have to work to get there. So far I am in a cast so I am really enjoying hearing what you can do at 5 months! If that even make sense. I live by what I can do and NOT what I can not do. Thanks for the videos.

      Awe thank you so much! 🥺 I totally agree with your philosophy. Really put your mind to it and work closely with your doctor/PT and they can help you reach those goals. Wishing you a smooth recovery and ENJOY that Europe trip in the fall!

    Alexa, I ruptured my achilles tendon a few weeks ago. I had surgery and am on the mend. Your positive, uplifting and informative updates are really great. Congrats on your wedding.

    Hi Alexa, CONGRATS ON THE WEDDING...! Looks like you are really making progress, with the achilles I mean.
    It's been 3 months now since I had my second surgery after re-rupturing it. I am starting to get out of the boot now and have about a month to wean it off. Think my recovery will be a bit longer than yours but it is good to know that there is light on the other side of the tunnel... I'll keep on following you to see what might be waiting for me as well, that gives me a bit of perspective... Good luck!!

    Alexa! So happy for you! The wedding and honeymoon looked AWESOME! I’ve been following your videos as I have ruptured my Achilles as well. I actually ruptured it twice 🥴. I’m almost 7 weeks post op. You have really encouraged me. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It has truly been a blessing. 🥰

      OMG you ruptured it twice? Same achilles or different ones? If you have any tips against a re-rupture, definitely share here so we can all learn!
      I'm sooo glad to hear my videos have been helpful for you, means a lot.

      @@HelloImAlexa Yes ma’am I did. So the first accident I was recovering well. And I had opted out of getting surgery. One day I miss judged and my knee missed the knee scooter and I landed heavily on my foot (which was in the boot). The pain was excruciating. So at the point my surgeon suggested I get the surgery. I was devastated to have to start all over. My advice is whether you decide to get the surgery or not understand that it is very easy to re-rupture. The boot is not full protection. Take your time, don’t rush anywhere. Just rest and let your body heal. I’m happy to be 8 weeks post op and will be in shoes in about two weeks!

    Congratulations! I know you didn't wear heels, but are you actually able to wear them? I'm afraid to stand in them or even try them on. I just made 4 months.

      Thank you!! Just responded to your other comment too. At 5 months I do think I could have worn them if I wanted but since I didn't try on heels with my dress during alterations I decided to just skip it. Around 6 months I wore heels at my friends wedding and had no problems!

    Congrats Alexa.. another brilliant video… your videos are helping me a lot..
    I wanted to ask if you felt any pain in your heel during the recovery ? I’m off the boot and 12 weeks post op but some days I get pain in my heel after walking v short distance… did you ever experience that ?

    • @HelloImAlexa
      @HelloImAlexa  2 роки тому

      Thank you!! Very glad to hear it.I did and still do feel a bit of sharp pain in my heel - my doctor said there's something in there that will dissolve around 12-18 months post op. I had them check on it when I started experiencing it and since its gotten more and more mild. Hope that helps!

    Your wedding looked beautiful! 12 weeks post op today. I meet with my surgeon tomorro and hope to get the all clear for PT. It wasn’t recommended for me until 12 weeks. At 8 weeks I was told to start wearing hiking boots for more stability and just walk. Looking forward to PT. Do you ever have heel pain on your injured leg? I do. Not sure why.

    • @HelloImAlexa
      @HelloImAlexa  2 роки тому

      Hi April!! Thank you so much 🙂
      Yeah… it's been interesting learning about the differences in everyone's protocol depending on the surgeon. At least you've been able to start walking on it with the hiking boats! My first month of PT was really hard, wishing you the best with it.
      As far as heel pain goes - YES. I actually experience this quite a bit, even at 6 month mark. My surgeon told me it's because of the procedure I had where they put this dissolvable material in my heel (on two sides) and that's what is likely causing it. He said the pain will go away in about 8-12 months post-op.
      Do you know if you had a similar procedure? I had three incisions - main one is where the achilles is up and down the leg (about 3 fingers in length), the other two are on opposite sides of my heel and quite short.

      @@HelloImAlexa wow! I don’t think they did that. Not sure though because I had my surgery in Korea. Language is a bit of a barrier. The heel pain is weird though. I just had my first PT session and the massage was killer! I didn’t realize how sore I was!

    • @HelloImAlexa

      @@aprilknutson2809 Ohhh yeah totally! I have a feeling the procedures and protocol may differ greatly between countries. I agree the heel pain is weird and uncomfortable.
      Yeah PT was BRUTAL for a while but I knew it was a part of the process 🥹

      By the time of my wedding the swelling was definitely down completely; I wasn't experiencing any puffiness in my ankle. I was still experiencing some stiffness after using my foot for the whole day though like I mentioned in this video. Hope that's helpful!
