Did You Know: Generating point clouds from drone-captured images with the Pixels-to-Points tool

With the cost of drones or UAVs decreasing rapidly, this powerful tool for 3D data creation is now within virtually everyone’s reach. Using simple drone-collected images, the Pixels-to-Points tool, part of the Global Mapper LiDAR Module, analyzes the pixel patterns in overlapping photographs to generate a model of the surface as a 3D point cloud. The resulting point cloud is the raw material from which other geospatial layers can be created and on which a variety of analysis procedures can be performed.
