I bought a Mini 3 recently for exactly this use. Having done photogrammetry when I studied Photographic Science, I am still fascinated with it 30yrs later.
@@atindan - I have a Mini 3 Pro, but any drone that can take still images can do photogrammetry. You do need decent capacity on an image card and decent flight time but then it’s just a case of plugging the images into the relevant computer package. Have a look at MeshRoom.
@@drewskiakg2719 - I had a play with meshroom with mixed results, but my computer wasn’t really up to the task of building a mesh with hundreds of photos. Might give it another try when I get a moment.
Nice !! For Reality Capture though I would suggest using RAW files instead of JPEG and convert it to TIF (16 bit for texture projection and automatic 8bit conversion for model generation)
Yeah the mini3! I use it daily as part of our kit. whether it is for photogrammetry itself, or even just scouting around a site to check the heights of a structure before mission planning for the M300, it's a valuable tool.
Truly helpful! I think it's an advantage to have these smaller drones for these purpose so their easy to bring around on site. Mini 3 sure is an excellent choice for a mini drone!
I use it for roof inspections, paid off in 2 weeks, just wish there was a software way to turn off the bottom sensors rather than using tape to cover them (yes I fly that close to things), however my first one had a compass crabbing issue on RTH and the right arm mount failed (both a manufacturing quality control issue) DJI explained this to me and replaced it with a new in the box sealed drone, they called me to extend their apologies as they explained that they could clearly see it wasn’t anything I could have caused. All in all for the size it’s a lot of drone! However it’s weight class doesn’t make it any cheaper on $20M liability insurances, costs the same as the Mavic 3
Yeah I want to use m9ni pro 3 for inspection work I work with a lot of refrigeration and elevated piping I was hoping someday to use it indoors . Put my part 107 and my other certifications w epa for hvac together but I have Alot to learn .
We want to create a terrain map of some land that is 70x70 meters on the side of a hill. Is is possible to do this and get reasonably accurate height measurements with the DJI3 Mini Pro?
so if I understand it corectly the closer you are with the objective the better your rendering will be? ( or the more pictures you take in close up ? )
I love your videos... so professional ....very inspiring. Keep up the good work and thanks for the help . Was thinking I need a 14k drone for that but ...looks like w some practice and guidance I can already do it w my mini 3 pro . Thanks
I've just discover your channel, got to say love your delivery, the succintness of them 7-8mins is perfect. Like the graphics too I need something that slick! Subbed.
Great video! I really like the new mini 4 pro. I’m new to the game and am thinking of starting a side gig for when I retire from my day job. I’m totally green. That being said, if you were me, would you get the mini 4, or opt for the DJI Air 3? Can I do enough jobs with the mini 4 to subsidize myself, or is the Air 3 going to be more diversified for getting more business type jobs? Thx! Paul < New Hampshire
duuuuudeee thank you!!! trying to break into the 3d model side of drone work and every time I look for jobs they want experience using lidar and photogrammetry with drones that cost tens of thousands of dollars, so I'm super stoked to finally be able to get some experience with the mini 3 pro that I already have. huge appreciation for you brudda
Get your asprs certification. They are still going to want something legit, not just 3d models from your drone. It's more technical experience they want.
Besides Skand, what other software do you recommend? I work in a lot of chemical plants and paper mills and would like to do some 3D modeling for them.
You didn’t explain this: so manually shot the images but did you just do a Circe with quick shots and manually took pictures. Or did you manual turn a 360 ? Because that would be hard to stay steady and at the same height and distance. I was able to do this with my mini se using litchi app. Recorded the video.. took footage and made a photos from it. And I can honestly say my 3D model is as good as yours. Altho the 3D object is missing a lot of data because I was not able to get any footage from about 5m .. straight on or so because there were too many trees and wires too close to the subject.. still trying to find a way to do it .. but I’m not sure I want to risk the drone hitting all those wires, branches and other obstacles .. any suggestions?
Aaron you rock! A question for you and any viewers with first hand experience: If you're a start-up looking to primarily do 2D maps and 3D modeling for construction (Drone Deploy) with some inspection work would you choose an M30T or M2AE? Or something else? Thanks in advance for any/all replies!
Not that i'm aware of yet. I've done a bit of research into it and it doesn't seem like its possible yet. I tried to use maps made easy but they only have the mini 2, hopefully this will be updated at some point.

Let me know how it went with your mini 3. Interested in getting started.
mini 3 or mini 3 pro? Sorry to ask but there ia some hundred euros difference and I want to know as a starter

This drone is really something when it comes to versatility!

Thankyou for the information Bro!
Drone Deploy ftw! They finally have Air 2S support as of last week!!!
Has anyone confirmed it to work though? My friend and I tried it the day it was supported and it didn't work for us but we're both really new.
Lol none of my drones are fully supported by drone deploy. I have the mini 2, mini 3 pro and mavic 3
@@MotoCampAdventure Yes it works. I’ve been using it on several runs.
@@hybrdcobra I feel your pain. Been waiting over a year for my A2S to be supported.
You think there's any chance we'll see the Mini 2 supported on DroneDeploy?

Cringe
Do you use any special software for your inspections as far as the flight
That’s super cool! I’ll have to see how my results compare, but this could open new doors for income potential.
whats exactly the use of making 3d model with drone/?
I use Agisoft Metashape, not too expensive for a hobby user and you get amazing Scans!

What would be your thoughts for DJI Air 3, also possible for mapping purposes?

You'll want a mavic Enterprise drone
Brilliant.
can you use that on mini 4 pro? or in air3?
Can it do area mapping?
That is pretty impressive. Thanks for this.

Try Trendspek, pix4d?
Context Capture, you can still share the models on skand, but CC is unreal for modelling
Can i do the same with DJI Mini2 SE ?
Can I use the mini 2 using the same software
Are you all able to do again fixing what thought could’ve been improved on with the handling of this test?
Holy crap, over $1,200 to be allowed to use that software to build a model like that!!
It's professional software
Can you do a 45 degree upward angle as well?
It Is possibile to mapping Land ?
Is it possible to use the app Polycam to model this with this drone?
Looks great, how much did the Oz company charge to turn the pics to a 3D model ?

DJI mini 3 or mini 3 pro? and why?

Hey Richard, couldn't answer this before... But now I can. Most definitely go with the Mavic 3 enterprise!
Can we set up a flight plan for Mini 3 in this software?

Quality video as always. Are you using the orbit feature to keep the drone at the correct distance throughout the photo captures?
What you mean Digital Twins 3D? May I export that detailed 3D model in a OBJ FBX or similar format? Thank you
Digital twin is another word for a 3d model. Yep! You can export to obj with Skand, but not sure fbx..
Hello, it s really good and interesting video...but i think the music volume is a bit too high. (( if i can say )
Is this also possible with the DJI Mini SE?
Is there any way to get a crack for the program?
Would this work on mini 2?
Yep! Any camera or drone
Skand the program he uses to do this cost $100 a month...
skand is super expesive I dont recommend
@@fvRodRunner like 300 a month I mean they all are the same even dji terra. Thank god there are free apps for the same
@@CIbrMxAi can you share some of the free appa your use?
This seems like you are making videos as if you are experienced, but this doesn't come through in the knowledge.
Dont buy DJI
Can this be done with Mavic Mini 1?
