- Hello and welcome. As a gem cutter it's about time I set the gems I facet . I've decided to start this by using 'Silver Clay'. Here's a look at the tools I've needed to buy to start this hobby.
If your silverworking gets anywhere as amazing as your gem cutting, your work is going to be gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing your progress!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you make! I've been fascinated by your gem cutting videos.
WooHoo I'm waiting for more of your videos. Recently, I also made myself a jewelry bench and bought some tools. A whole new chapter in life begins, the goal is to produce a complete piece of jewelry from the beginning, from gem cutting to metal processing. Best regards .
Looking forward to your silver jewelery Cliff!!!!
Good times ahead!
I hope so.
I look forward to you making your own jewelry.
Thanks James.
Excellent gongratulations 👍🤝👍👏👏👏👏👏
Wow! That’s a lot of stuff! Looking forward to seeing you create ❤😊
Most was very inexpensive and bought over a period of 6 months.
Yes ! Victoria is bloody freezing. Lucky we’re on the fast slide down now straight to summer ❤
I hope the warm weather comes on soon.
Very cool. I've considered doing this but never started. I'll be watching.
This is a very interesting idea. Very interested in seeing this unfold.
Thanks...
Excited to see what you make with it!
Thank you.
If Ever I may be Any Help please tag me in the comments here and we’ll connect from there friend..
US here and honestly I have been watching for quite some time now and learning to facet from you top cutters, so if anything I owe ya the favor.. 👌🏽
Mainly silversmithing is what I work with aside cabbing and faceting but clay does have some good properties and some not so good..
Mainly with the clay I remember that the clay shrinks a higher percentage the cheaper it costs and even the better quality shrinks as well so there’s mainly the headache I had using it but like anything else you’ll have that out of your way and conquered too!
Setting without a good burr set will be a bit trickier with faceted stones if you don’t already have them already..
Anyways I’m always willing to answer questions and don’t plan on goin anywhere in the near future.
Can’t wait to see your stones set in your work and your gonna be HOOKED!
Thanks for the offer. Yes, a burr set would be handy. I don't have a set. Hoping on gems that are heat tolerant the silver clay will shrink around the gem and hold it in place.
exciting
Thanks
Good luck with it!
Thanks Tony.
wow fare bit of gear good luck with it i never saw it done before
All the gear was bought over 6 months. Mostly from China. Cheers
I'm starting the same journey. I feel one can be a little more creative with metal clay vs standard fabrication techniques.
Silver Clay allows another option that fabrication doesn't.
@@VintageTimeGems what one are you using ? I'm sure you are aware there is one made there in Oz right ?
HHHmmm, what is silver clay?
It looks like you had to buy a lot of tools which is costly
