I was blown away when they got to the main event. Non-stop fun. Even a baby managed to save Chow Yun-fat.

all i can say my mind was blown when i watched this as a kid in late 94 (even the heavily censored TV VERSION) i was dizzy from the greatness....there was a big article on the censorship cause it was infamous for being hyperviolent, that was a huge topic back in the 90s, after several years i finally found the UK import VHS TAPE which was totally uncut and lied about my age paied 50 bucks and walked out the store feeeling the luckiest - it was still great the 2nd time (but for some reason maybe the editing cuts censoring etc felt faster the 1st watch was by far most impactful)

The Killer, Hard Boiled and Bullet in the Head are still my favorite John Woo films along with Hard Target, Face/Off and Broken Arrow which are all great action films IMO and the kind of stuff that's sorely missed nowadays.

Out of all the versions of Hard Target (97 min r rated theatrical, 100 min unrated International version, sneak preview and isn’t there a shorter workprint an and a longer workprint b?) isn’t it only one version that has the shorter death for Fouchon where JCVD throws a grenade instead of dropping it down the pants? Which version has that ending and do all the other versions have the ending with the grenade down the pants and the fuse ignitiing?

    • @ramboraph4life
      @ramboraph4life  Рік тому +1

Workprint (both of them) has shorter ending with the 'throwing grenade and that's it'. While both international and theatrical has the 'drop down pants, fuse igniting' ending.

The dragon dynasty bluray constantly has the pop up menu in the bottom of the screen, along with the bad picture quality. It even has features listed on the back of the cover that aren't on it.

I remember because of you I bought that Blu-ray as well. It took me months, but I only got it. After I told him I'd dispute it and tried to do that, I got my Hong Kong Rescue Blu-ray.

3:45 I always remember that line that his Captain says to his character after the tea house shoot out "Give a guy a gun he thinks he's Superman give him 2 guns he thinks he's GOD!!"
5:21 Agreed bro I believe this film along with others Woo has done in china are referred to as a genre called"Heroic Bloodshed" which I always that would be a great title for an action just like this IMHO.
17:52 That whole action sequence with his character and the baby is what help inspire writer/director Michael Davis do another fun action underrated classic"Shoot'em Up"
20:19 Well in the tea house shoot out Chow's character did accidentally shoot a cop it is brought up but the film doesn't need to stop for 30 mins to address that hench why his character wants to find out who Tony's character is?
Fantastic job on the review for this John Woo/Chow Yun Fat action classic👍👍 It's #4 in my top 5 favorite films of John Woo are
    1.Hard Target(Workprint NC-17)
    2. The Killer
    3.Broken Arrow
    4. Hard Boiled
    5. A Better Tomorrow 2
Btw you did a wonderful job on ripping Jacob/Hong Kong Rescue a whole new orifice too I was at one time going to order both "Hard Boiled"&"Fist of Legend" from him thank god I never bothered.

If you haven't played "Strangle Hold", give it a try. It's one of the best 3rd person shooters ever (in my books) I remember having a debate with a friend on Strangle Hold or Vanquish. To this day I can't remember what side I was on , because they're both great games.
