"Listen all you judges in the hall. Please put down a number, make it tall. Heck, ya might not need to score at all." 5 perfect scores from the PER Category
I love it when they take their craft very seriously, but don't take themselves too seriously. I guess I tend to lean toward the comedic pieces as my favorites. Fun watch, and great transcription, as always.
The great two extra bits to this song were A) Connelley coached FRED, so he was in on the joke; and B) FRED won this international convention in 1999, and PLATINUM scored second place - only to win the next year in 2000 - which means FRED is the only quartet to ever beat PLATINUM!
I will indeed be there! And I'll be hanging in whatever hotel lobby is the main one finding anyone who wants to sing! (I should not be hard to miss, I am a 6'2 19 year old with long curly blond hair probably wearing a Hawaiian shirt, I don't think many people at the convention will fit every aspect of that mold lol)
Tony D and Ox are back. Sadly, quartet on quartet violence is a bit of a lost art. Fred, Storm Front, and Lunch Break would jump at the chance, but I doubt any of the current contenders except maybe NF4 would be willing to "go there",
Exactly. Remember when FRED did a song making fun of the other quartets in the top 10? As I recall, there were a couple of quartets that surprised them so they had to rewrite some of the lyrics the night before the final!
Reading this back after the finals this year is hilarious. I think like 8 out of the 10 quartets did some sort of comedy song and made fun of the other groups in some way and it was incredible
They had good reason to be scared because three and a half men beat the highest ever singing score that midtown set last year (at 96.4) with a 96.5 on “what kind of fool am i/where is love”
DeRosa's back in town
You probably already know, but DeRosa want that year in the same quartet as Connelly

@kevinkirkland8762 Storm Front improvised a few of their bits too, though iirc think Jim Clark said they were prepared for multiple possibilities
Oh they went there, twice. 😂

@jasonfieler and the contest was better for it!
Jeff Oxley's back in town this year
What quartet is he competing with?

This wasn't even the best hit on Connelly. Crossroads got him good in '08(?) with "Just a Lead Named Joe"
You have to do “ending credits” by Sam greenfield
😂😂😂
