- Nathalie Stutzmann, Delphine Galou, Magdalena Kožená, Manuela Custer, Ann Hallenberg, Sara Mingardo and Sonia Prina sing the aria "Agitata infido flatu" from Vivaldi's oratorio Juditha Triumphans, RV644 . Which of these seven mezzo-sopranos and contraltos sings it best?
Wow! Seven times. Thank you ever.
Sara Mingardo, absolutely, next Delphine Galou.
No matter who the singer is, Vivaldi's music transcends the singer ( s ).
It's our mis-fortune that we will never hear this music as it was performed in the Baroque Era, by those greatest of singers who offered more than "laughter" in the embellishments ; in the absence off ... I thought Sara Mingardo was exceptional.
1Nathalie Stutzmann
2Ann Hallenberg/Sara Mingardo/ Sonia Prina
I think they all nail it. My preferences are more because of timbre, deepness and personality of the voices I loved more.
Delphine Galou is the best!!!
La Custer è stupenda
For me it's between Stutzmann and Hallenberg. Stutzmann wins by sheer energy (it's a pity she opted for a slower tempo in the studio recording), while Hallenberg brings a certain pointedness. Mingardo is a close second, but it felt to me that the very fast tempo gave her too little time for characterization at times.
Sara Mingardo... hands down.. the color of her voice, the phrasing, the style. everything!
But, Sara, my love, of course! No one is more expressive! She has such a special voice. Second, is Sonia, for me. The tempo suits her so nicely!
The besr is Magdalena Kožena!!
For me Galou is nr 1 !
Sara Mingardo nei secoli dei secoli ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nathalie Stutzmann by far. There is no second, the winner takes it all.
Nathalie Stutzmann for me, followed by Sara Mingardo and Magdalena Kožena. I enjoyed all the interpretations, though. It's an exciting piece of music.
Super condivisione complimenti ❤
1. Hallenberg - Accomplished technically. musical, clear interpretation and a lovely voice full of colours. Just a tad “high” for this music from being absolutely perfect.
2. Mingardo - Classy, musical, the range of the music fits her perfectly.
3. Stutzmann - For sheer excitement.
They are all good!
Found Hallenberg too smooth for Agitato. Beautiful voice. I liked Stutzmann and Mingardo best but Sonia Prina will be one to watch.
Custer everrrrrrrr!!!!
1 Stutzmann 2 Mingardo 3 Hallenberg 4 Prina (for strenght and enthousiasm). Nice idea !
Stutzmann- Mingardo 😍
1. Nathalie Stutzmann
2. Sara Mingardo
3. Ann Hallenberg
My very personal preference is:
• Stutzmann
• Mingardo
• Hallenberg
• Prina
I love all :)
Nathalie Stutzmann without any doubt
Custer for ever
1. Kozena 2. Mingardo 3. Hallenberg
Sara Mingardo is best!
Agitata infido flatu
Diu volatu
Vagabundo
Maesta hirundo
It plorando
Boni ignara.
Sed impulsu aurae serenae
Tantae cito oblita poenae
In dilecta
Dulcia tecta
Gaudii ridet haud avara
ossed around by the treacherous wind
in its long flight,
the wandering
sad swallow
goes weeping,
remembering no good.
But propelled by the force of a fair breeze,
suddenly forgetting such sorrow,
in its delightfully
tender nest
it laughs joyfully, desiring no more
En mi opinión:
1.-Stuzmann 2.- Mingardo 3.-Hallenberg 4.-Prina
I chose Stutzmann and Hallenberg
The Absolutely great idea, Master Oltre il Barocco! Personally, I'll vote rate for Beautifully Swedish Mezzo Dame Ann Hallenberg for Top Performer.
La Custer! ❤
Sara Mingardo looks the best...top
Magdalena Kozena..
A mi gusto: 1. Magdalena Kozená y 2. Sonia Prina
For me it's Stutzmann. Her low notes are stronger. More energy, more release, more emotion. I enjoyed Sonia Prina very much but not the same control over building tension and release. Sara Mingardo has a wonderful voice but the tempo turned it into a bit of a contralto colaratura agilty feat rather than conveying the agitation and associated emotion. Not so keen on the mezzos. Less powe at the bottom.and voice quality too divorced from the higher register. But really every rendition was a gift.
I like Oralia Dominguez in Juditha Triumphans.
Kožená
1. Prina
La mingardo
1. Magdalena Kozena ♥ ♥
2. Ann Hallenberg ♥
Kozena et Sara Mingardo
Kozena
Sara Mingardo
Hallenberg, Mingardo and Galou - personally I just can enjoy their performances of this aria.
Sara Mingardo.
Sarah Mingardo expresses the words and the sentiments best, but I enjoyed all the interpretations.
This is by far the fastest tempo, yet she executes the extreme demands flawlessly.
I have heard another recoding in which Stutzmann uses a faster tempo at Froville. It's a live venue recording so quality isn't as good as in these but it has video and it's very fast and very playful.
I like Sara Mingardo most.
No question Sara Mingardo
N. Stutzmann (Numéro 1), D. Galou (Numéro 2), S. Mingardo (Numéro 3), A. Hallenberg (Numéro 4).
Sara Mingardo hands down
Nathalie Stutzman can easily be mistaken for a counter tenor...
Absolutely not.Although the vocal range might be comparable the mood is very different. Nathalie Strutzmann has a voice of tremendous volume, authority and gravitas. The sound of a counter tenor is usually light and without depth.
Is a tenor
never! a totally different timbre to a counter, how can you mix? ))
I think her middle voice does have some similar characteristics to good Countertenors but what sets her apart is her strong lower register. Countertenors usually have weak, underdeveloped chest voices, or don't use them at all. That's what I like the best about Stutzmann actually. I love a woman with a good strong chest voice.
Delphine Galou!
Ann Hallenberg. 🌹🙏
Galou and Mingardo
Sonia Prina
1. Ann Hallenberg. 2. Sonia Prina.
Thank you Elena for your input.
I can't watch this video in New Zealand :(
Vivaldi first, then Delphine Galou and Sarah Mingardo
For me:
1 Ann Hallenberg, it's so clean and clear.
2. Sonia Prina, I loved the nuances she added.
3. Magdalena Kozena, she lacks a bit more passion.
It is not included, but the best is the version of Marianne Beate Kielland!
1. Nathalie
2. Sara
3. Ann
4. Sonia
Mais le choix est vraiment cornélien.
Stutzmann
Nathalie Stutzmann is too heavy for my tastes. Delphine Galou does not inspire me in the lower notes. Magdalena Kozena is more lyrical with power throughout. I really like her voice. Manuela Custer was my least favorite. Ann Hallenberg blows me away with her passion! She is my favorite. Sara Mingardo has a muffled quality, but I like her better than Stutzman and Custer. Sonia Prina is my third favorite. Her voice is bold and dramatic with a dark timbre I rather enjoy. On a side note, I wouldn't mind hearing Jessye Norman do this one.
1. Hallenberg
2. Kozena
3. Prina
4. Mingardo
5. Galou
6. Stutzmann
7. Custer
Thanks for putting this together. I enjoyed it.
HOW THE HELL YOU DARE! The best and the ruler is Nathalie Stutzmann, the only true contralto of our time and the finest voice and technique.
Stutzmann is one of my very favorite singers and I rarely find fat with what she does. However, to dismiss all other singers as not being "true contraltos" is both rude and shows an intensive lack of awareness of the core tenets of voice classification...
Sara, Sara, Sara ………. I really don’t like the others especially Nathalie though I tried hard to like her but …… anyway, it was At least 25 years ago.
Sara Mingardo
