Great stuff Florian, I have really enjoyed being along for the journey. I can't believe that the race is not so far from over. I have hardly missed an episode. It is so good watching these amazing boats and sailors doing their thing.
There's not much left of the race for Dalin, Richomme and Simon but the others still have quite some distance left before they're back in France. The skippers that haven't reached Cape Horn yet have a long way to go particularly since most of them are in slower daggerboard yachts.
Gosh your beautiful video and music for the toast today, that was primo- I could listen to an endless loop of the sound of the water brushing by the boat and the wind in the rigging, and that sunset- so lovely!
Boris’ comment about being naked on deck reminded of when I was making landfall on the east coast of New Caledonia in the 1980s. I had hove to several miles out from the reef entrance to await daylight (this was pre-GPS & I was navigating with a sextant). I was woken at dawn by a loud whining noise and on going on deck naked was surprised to see the bow of a French naval vessel about 30m astern with a large group of sailors looking down at me. Among much waving and whistling from the navy sailors the gun boat then powered away. The whining noise was their turbine engine.
So Florian, with Boris’ somewhat graphic commentary and your expert technical analysis, it seems feasible that his improved ranking among the skippers was because Boris was sailing naked, right?? Ha ha ha! Thanks for a great show and sharing your sailing insight for this amazing race. Cheers Wolves.
Been watching for a while now . I think the leaders were still to pass South Africa when i found your channel . Very interesting and entertaining . Good stuff
this was the best episode yet! thank you for clearing showing the sailors place in the race and staying hovered over each boat so we can see the sailor name, position and team. I don't have them all memorized, so for me being new to Vendee, it is so informative. Thanks!
My selection of the five skippers behind the first three are 4th Jeremie Beyou; 5th Boris Herrman; 6th Sam Goodchild; 7th Paul Meilhat; and 8th Justine Mettraux. Florian - you might remember that I picked the top 5 in the right order in the 2020 race - so I have luck and pedigree on my side (tee hee)!! Keep up the great commentary and analysis. Peter
A tip for Boris You probably know this already but if I were going up the mast say using the main halyard and the rope climbing clamps. I would secure the bottom end and tighten it so I didn't sway around so much. Other than that, good luck, stay safe.
One of my highlights of your reports is the sailing shots. Maybe a long(er) compilation of the best sailing shots would make a good report, or part of a report? Thanks :)
Jérémie Beyou is one of the best offshore sailors racing today and I'm glad you've mentioned him lately. After what he went through in the last edition, he deserves a spot on the podium, but that's very unlikely at this point of the race, unfortunately. I think _Charal_ is the best looking yacht of this edition like his previous yacht was in the last race. I'm surprised Boris is afraid of heights. So am I a little, and wondering what sailors with acrophobia do when they need to climb the mast in such a long race? Must be quite an ordeal to go through...
As to the question of Boris my bet is, that he arrives on 23rd in the night. I hope he will be again on position 5. However, to achieve this will be quite a challenge for him at the end of the race.
Question to you while on a race: in your pack, do you watch who is behind and catching up, or are you looking forward to those who will be cached by you? Is it a mentally thing?
So, Who do you think will win form the 2th fleet?
I'm hoping Sam and Boris come 4th and 5th 🎉
Justine. She silently moves up unnoticed by many.

What an incredible opening toast with that truly awesome sunset (sunrise?) and the inspiring music. Thanks for these continuing outstanding shows.
Another excellent update, thanks so much !!!!

Great show and such a warmhearted appraisal for all of the sailors!

Hi from Sweden 🇸🇪
How to manage the freight of hights ? Well - it is necessary to avoid looking down and only concentrate on the mast and look up.
Good advice!
Thanks for the comprehensive update. Why the 2th group?

Hi Florian do skippers ever try to catch a fish 🐟 on quite days
2nd, is second.
2th, is twoth or, more correctly, tooth.
😂
Serious question- what is the bathroom situation on these boats?
Question to you while on a race: in your pack, do you watch who is behind and catching up, or are you looking forward to those who will be cached by you? Is it a mentally thing?
I recon as for eta Boris….January 23….0917hrs…UTC
2nd is more used than 2th (twooth?)
Why can I not buy a Seawolves hoodie in the UK??
What's the expiry on the BBQ sauce?
Ok what’s with the bottle of whiskey and then soup and now back to whiskey? Do you have a secret sponsor?
