I was quite happy with this video and the cheap plane purchase was well worth it.
I will probably end up giving it away because i have so many other little block planes it is ridiculous. Otherwise this thing is just going to sit on my shelf haha.

Ha! Too many planes, need to head to a market and put a fair price on them ;)

I am building up to retire as a plane wholesaler. These pimped up block planes from Tradetools could be a hot seller. 🔥 haha

I had a good chuckle at your slip up on the lathe. Great work on the "resto mod" as always!

Hi Shawn, Lathe beginners like me make slipups like this. By the last knob, i was an expert haha. The best part about the plane was the knob I recon. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello as always. 😊

Hi Matt, its great to see you've managed to restore yet again another cracking item from Stanley's fantastic original hand plane's collection, you just can't beat the reliability of the good old Stanley products and just how beautifully restored and fully usable they become once again. As alway's buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

Hi Simon, glad you liked the video. The old Stanleys are my favorite.

As always, great work! I just picked up a wooden plane and plan on cleaning it up.

So cool, I have heaps of restored wooden planes, and they are actually useful tools. i would love to see you clean up yours and get it going. The trick with tool restoration videos is to show the tool working at the end for maximum satisfaction. This one worked ok (better than new) but not as good as an old the Stanley. Pity the new Stanley quality control has gone to the dogs.

When yoy heated the screw with the blow torch, what was the purpose there?

Hi psyave, I did not like the original screw, so i made a new screw from an old bolt and after I shaped it, I wanted it all black. If you heat steel past a certain point it turns a nice blueish color. But if you then dunk it in oil that puts a durable black coating on it.
