    I have exactly the same plane. I think I paid £12.
    The casting was very poor when I bought it and I've spent lots of time making it perfect. The mouth would not close smaller than about 5mm originally and there were lots of rough machining.
    I've improved the adjustment mechanism too. The two parts would not lie flat on each other so I tapered the ends of the hole in the lateral adjuster and the end of the depth adjuster so that they slide over each other much better.
    The tabs on the lateral adjuster were too far from the blade to so I spread them wider by hitting them with a hammer!
    I didn't realise that I had bought a metal work project 😂
    It works great now and I've had lots of fun improving it.
    Thanks for the video.

      hi Ian. the thing that makes me mad is that they know how to build planes back in the day... and now it seems they forgot it. have a nice day!

      @MoscaWoodworking  4 роки тому

      It's quite light, but trust me, buy something better. you can sharp the iron, but it won't kee the edge very long

    Looks like you got it to take pretty good shavings

    Great video! Can you list or link your bits and pieces-stones, angle guide?

      Hi Michael!! I recently switched to a Coarse/fine DMT Duo sharp stone. they are great. The guide is a veritas Mark II. I'm from Italy, so the link won't work for you, but just searching, you will find the easily. thanks for watching!

    Bel lavoro, complimenti!
    L' unica mia perplessità è che, trattandosi di una pialla economica, la lama può perdere velocemente il filo, anche se affiliata molto bene.
    Sai dirmi qualcosa a riguardo?
    Grazie

    • @MoscaWoodworking
      @MoscaWoodworking  3 роки тому +1

      confermo in pieno purtroppo. consiglio di virare almeno sui pialletti juuma. ho una rabbet block e mi ci trovo bene (solo un po' duro il meccanismo di regolazione lama)

    Just after setting up three of them (two more later). They are Stanley, but look identical to yours.

      yes, the pattern of the plane is the same. i Think Stanleys have a better blade

    Like it mate 👍 what is the effect of polishing paste in mdf? might buy that one aswell after seeing this!

    • @MoscaWoodworking
      @MoscaWoodworking  5 років тому +1

      it can be used with two functions:
      - polishing the metal (in this case the sole of a plane) as final touch after the flattening procedures. you can see that it cleans the surface leaving a grey shadow on the paste
      - as a substitute of the green compund for honing plane or knife blades. it leaves a mirror finish
