14 years after this album was released and still sounds from another world
The whole album is just in it's own league. So inventive yet so simple. All he did really was bring a heavy dark ambient vibe into the 2-step vibe. Imho this tune in particular is arguably the best garage/2-step track ever made.
Can you guys recommend any similar sounds?
@@worwor1721 Other songs similar to Burial that i liked a lot was "Kazukii - Relapse" and "Blvck Ceiling - Fountains"
@@worwor1721 Try Shah - Revert, it has exactly the same off-sounding drums, but it's more streamlined
14 years ... now I feel old but yes, this sounds just as fresh as it did back then, the man is a genius
This is how an after-party feels, the walk home, the barking of the dogs of the neighbor, the city lights and that tiny smile one has because it was a great night but you feel tired out of your mind
You made magic Burial, absolute magic
True! Such a satisfying feeling
Nothing like it in the world. It's that music type that is a whole state of being. Absolutely unique.
Perfect no other words needed
for some of us it feels more like not being invited to the party in the first place. really a loner song imo
The coming down from the ecstasy
Was on the night train back home from a trip to NYC with my girlfriend by my side. Was half asleep listening to this with my head on her shoulder as I watched the city lights turn from a sea of them, to less and less, til eventually all I saw was a small light glowing in a sea of dark before I fell asleep for the rest of the ride.
ok
and then you woke up
and realised it was all true.
You should break up to feel this album more deeply jk
@@julian.castro18 haha I've been out of that relationship for years now. Definitely a good break up album too though.
Burial's music is the soundtrack for those 4 am - 5 am walks. Where street lights and the dark blue sky feel almost ethereal and magical, and the silence of the environment is almost claustrophobic.
Why does it make the music 100X better!?!?!?
Or when you're the only one on an N bus, you just you upstairs watrching the world go by and the driver, being alert as ever, keeping you safe. And the trees keep going by
Every time I hear this album I'm just like BRO WHO HURT YOU??
I've been trying to find a way to describe the feel of this album and the self-titled... for a long time I thought it was like "sad" / "depressing"-feeling but now they almost invoke the feeling of the aftermath of sadness if that makes sense? Like looking back on sadness with a matured mind.
Damn thats beautiful
If this album was a food, it'd be slightly bitter but not in a malicious way if ygm
just heard that properly for first time, been clearing the houses where the 7 lords rule
It's more like chronic depression as opposed to just feeling depressed: hurt and injustice have coloured your spirit to the point where those are the things you identify with most, because to do otherwise would be to forget to be good.
I`d call it resilience. I experience resilience when i express myself in a honest way
3:05 The way he builds the track back up is so epic
The whole album is a masterpiece, but honestly I see this as the main star of the album over Archangel
yes true unbelievable talent, my fav is etched head plate 🥰
oh for sure, this song is number 1 in the album.
Yeah this song has so much depth to it
Imma have to agree
I am a huge Archangel fan but the more I listen down the years I am inclined to agree with you
It's raining very heavily, the leaded sky suggested me to listen to this album once more. Naturally I had to do it.
Defeshh Same
Wtf same
"leaded sky" is one of the most fitting formulations I have heard in a long time
This is my go to album when I’m laying on my bed at 2 am staring at the ceiling and just thinking about my life
Fuck man this whole album. I would feel that I was in a completely different universe. Running with this, before anyone was up in the morning. Sun barley risen. Life was so hard at that point in time and this was an escape to just feel all those emotions and come to peace with them every morning. Have my escape and be ready to take on my depression, one day at a time. Thank you burial for creating this.
Drugs and alcohol will do that to you
I feel you man. Hope you're doing better nowadays, much love bro
The way I feel inside
the transition to 'we could be friends away from my heart' hurts the most.
just gotta accept that everything isnt forever.
Always reminded me of a ride on the top bunk of a bus in London very early before your dreaded shift, melancholic tone with the bus throwing your body around. It isn't sadness for me but this small period of indifference where this static noise and distorted beats is so too familiar.
Bro you described this so perfectly
“N22… to West Mawkington”
Every song is perfect in Untrue. Totally my favourite album of all time.
what are your others?
Is this track for everyone? No, I don't think so. But you can't deny how much atmosphere it carries. I don't listen to it regularly, but the times I do, man does it carry me away to a specific rainy afternoon. God bless
This is so original
When a genius creates a brand new music genre.
15 years after release this hit me during a drought of music. Nothing to be liked. Nothing to enjoy and obsess over. Now I find myself dancing to this tune at 2AM awaking from my fucked up sleep cycle. I love this creation
So many elements to this song
After listening this album for many years, since it was released, I can honestly say that I will never get sick of it. It's just impossible.
Timeless
This album instantly produces an altered state of consciousness in the listener, much the way meditation does. Trying to wrap my brain around it is impossible, so I just go with it.
Two years after Untrue's release, I remember buying this in late 2009. As absolutely cathartic then as it is now. A moving masterpiece from beginning to end. I love how he sampled Beyonce's Resentment for this track. Masterfully done. ❤❤❤❤❤
То чувство когда трек настолько идеален, что наслаждаешься каждой секундой )
У меня слов нет как это хорошо ...
Как я счастлив что burial и остальной future garage существует
There is literally nothing else that will ever sound as good as this or evoke the same emotions and vibe. Truly one of a kind
Genius. It's like discovering an entirely new realm of Music. The sound is so unique and melodic.
Yes, Burial ripped a hole through the fabric of music, he showed us this other world, this is why he is a genius and why he will never be forgotten.
@@pezushka does he still produce?
@@johnblake5114 Sorry, only just seen this, yes he does, his early work mostly reigns supreme though.
How we went from this to Skrillex I'll never comprehend. But in any case, props on being regarded as the parent of Dubstep.
This song describes the feeling of deep hurt and sadness i carry through my life, i was around 15 when this came out and now im 32, it just gets heavier as the years go on, not i feel like a hardened shell with an extremely soft centre full of pain and thoughts of no more hope and point in protecting it any longer.
when i was younger i thought that i will never be able to listen to beyonce for more than 10 years
why?
@@jackoliver-sherry-musicpro8110 the vocals here are sampled from Beyonce is the gist of it
Lol
10 years?? Impossible. Maybe 10, 12 hours---but you'll have to sleep at some point. (dad joke lmao)
@@bryanhutson4369It's from 'I Refuse' by Aaliyah
Nightbus back to Lambeth vibes. Getting off early just to take a walk through Brockwell Park, while the sun is rising and listening to this gem of a tune
Never has this music made so much sense
Эту композицию невозможно прочувствовать до конца, пока тебе не разбили сердце💔
Goosebumps every time.
Cool fact, rinsing this out on wax for over a decade has added a bit more sonic drama. ❤️
Artist of the avant-garde
Just wanted to thank burial for peaking my interest in music again. Thanks man
This is the ONLY album that can make me cry
This may sound weird but some of burial’s songs take me back in time like around 2007 or 2008
Same
why weird though? the late 00's needed such desperate sound, so it's completely reasonable if you're mentally time travelling with it
@@postman2326 for me it's because I discovered his music recently, and I searched the date of release of this song, now I can associate with my memories of that years
Same is time travel and all the stuff happened between 2007, truly… untrue stuff
Because it was released in 2007, so you're fine
Happy 2023.🎉
so much atmosphere
I can't believe its been almost 3 years since I've known about this band!
Nothing will sound as good as this on full blast ❤
Love making my house and street reverberate to this sound
Thank you for uploading this
thats legit amazing i want to cry about how perfect this song is
breakdown at 3:14 is magnificent
The double kick is very nice
i was already at there and i didnt understand first time xd
3:14
Tremendous track
This record is pure magic
If ever a producer captured britishness its burial.... This whole album capsules everything essentially british. The mood, the huge garage influence, just a masterpiece
Only just realised this has a bit of shell of light in it, such a tune
It's amazing how well this album still sounds and hits you with the same feelings it did when it just got released
Beautiful ❤️
atmosphere through the stratosphere ♪
incredible album..... once in a lifetime experience.... seriously that good
perfect, exquisite - I'll never get tired of this album, and right now it really resonates ....
What a unique album! Masterpiece for sure xxx
been listening to this album
yeah?
This album makes me feel high
This is the medicine that pulls you back together or at least rides with you back to what we call normality it is tranquil hits areas only few have experienced emotionally and that is why this is a timeless classic between those that feel the same
a cradle in the dark.
When the beat drops out, introduces the subs, then drops back in, I may as well be tripping
the drum groove is crazy
man… that ending is pure magic
What a masterpiece
the only thing fred again's new release did was remind me that this gem exists.
brilliant
Epic
THIS DRUMBEAT IS SO GOOD
Feels like walking theought an industrial area after snowstorm
soundtrack for living with the knowledge/awareness of our lost future :'(
4ever BURIAL, KING OF SAMPLE.
I can't explain what I feel with this track, but I have to say : fuck it is so good !
Great😮
💜
Music for the soul🥂
My entire personality is based on this song
Yikes
Truly a yikes moment
this track with stay with me until the inevitable, I'm glad it'll be with me until then
I'm camping and I'm spending the last bits of my mobile data listening to this in this endless weird empty desert ( Morocco )
So tired of all these fake comments. If ure camping and got data ure doing it wrong especially in the fucking desert
There isn't another electronic artist on his level 2007 and sounds like 2022 that's skill sampling rnb tracks before deep house was even around his use of sample and ability to create moody overrides is impeccable I thought boards of Canada were good as they created a nostalgic sounds from childhood but this is the pinnacle
I saw light straight to heaven end again..
It's all, because you lied.
Suthara Wiangsima But But But.. I didn't lie!
like the Travis song "why does it always rain on me was it because i lied when i was 17"
He’s as perfect as UNTRUE
That initial drop at 0:19 is orgasmic
Closed doors and same room for a whole month, Hello 2020
I imagine the man in the album cover is singing "And it's all"
My dark love

Untrue and true
Brought here by my friend's recommendation
Krzysztof Negacz your Friend have a good Taste
kiss your friend
Pat your friend on the forehead as he lay helpless on his back in the park overlooking his childhood home while you look on eager to better tomorrow's.
I heard from a very reliable source that he uses a sound editor to piece together his music. Don't quote me on that.
It's true. He used one track and recorded over it over and over. And no sequencer. He said he didn't know how to use a sequencer.
he used sound forge
Cheers to those that got to experience this

Away from my heart…
You see the album cover? Apparently, that's menna be me?
Pretty similar Rainkist by Dark Sky
Does anyone know the sample at 6:02?
Lol, the most played part, is obviously the part everyone wants to sample.
