(con't from my last reply) If you wan't a cost effective v8 s10, go with a junkyard 5.3 build with a 4l60e auto and make sure you have a posi rearend. A mild cam 5.3 will put down good power and still get high 20s MPG. A traditional SBC is a simpler swap if you gut the computer, but won't get half the gas mileage an LS series motor will. All in all, they are VERY reliable trucks, I've had my 2.2 for over a year now with no problems whatsoever. Good luck finding a rust free one like mine :)

thats thing is awesome ... however, i dont agree with the front end body kit swap ... I had a Blazer Xtreme. the factory body kits are, i think, perfect on the all Xtremes. your truck is sweet tho with that motor. sounds fantastic. I want to get another Blazer Xtreme ... great trucks.
Sounds like highway gears, if you have a 4 spd auto then throw some 3.73, or 4.10/.11's under that thing. The gears will make it feel like a totally different truck/motor. You can thank me later.

I've got an 05 blazer, and I'm thinking about swapping a 5.3 in. It should work with my trans nicely. I'm having a compression issue with my 4.3.

I have a 02 2.2l and they tow fine I pushed my buddies 86 f150 several miles mostly uphill and never dropped below 60 mph granted the tac was at 4 grand lol all good tho I've pushed it to redline xD
Not really sure that's worth doing. You can make decent power with a 4.3 with some mild head work and cam then the bolt on parts and a reprogram. Then you take into account the added weight of the 5.7 and your not gaining enough to make it worth doing. You didn't pop the hood so I'm gonna assume it's carbed fuck that if that's the case.

Ya know whats funny is my xtreme only has flowmaster exhaust and it accelerates really close to that too. Especially in the 45 and up range. I wouldn't believe it if I havent done it many times.

I have an 01 Sonoma, Vortec 6 with bolt ons. Hypertech Programmer makes all the difference. Tops out at 128. Nice truck man.
The 5.7liter 350 cu.in small block chevy..The best small block known to man.Gm quit using it in the newer chevy trucks Cause they last.
No dude it's a big ass iron block it was staple for years but efficiency, power, and mpg the LS is still king dude.
