Hi there, love your videos. Can you provide some comparison in terms of fuel economy on the M102 engine when compared to carb vs efi. I am considering this change for my own W123 M102.
Hey man, thank you. At the moment, the fuel economy is way better than with carb. In sport mode, I'm getting roughly 10-11kms per liter, I have not done comprehensive tests on the other driving modes like Comfort, economy and eco+. With carb, on a usual day, I could get 8.3kms per liter. Best I ever recorded was 10.5kms per liter on a very long highway (360kms) with few stops and traffic jams. With EFI in town, I can easy get 11+ kms per liter. When i do the comprehensive tests, I'll share the results.
Hey man, I just overhauled the engine properly. I have a video of work done on the engine. For crank position sensor, I placed it on the distributor. I designed the ECU from scratch, didn't buy an ECU then assembled, no, I designed it and wrote the program (firmware). I did this so that I have full control on what happens on the engine.
Hello there. My background is electrical and electronics engineering and I do robotics. I'm a long user of carb and I know the benefits and drawbacks of it to a greater degree. I developed a customized ECU for it for more power and better fuel economy. My carb produces 124.8 peak BHP which is sufficient to the majority. I felt I could squeeze more power from the M102 engine.
A full rebuild will go for 80K (Kshs) if it includes block boring and new sleeves. It would need cylinder boring if the cylinders are worn out, has vertical lines that leak oil, has grooves at the top of each cylinder etc. A full EFI conversion goes for 150K (Kshs), 80K for ECU and Harness, 70K for the parts needed like the intake manifold, fuel injectors, fuel regulator, custom fuel rail, fuel pump, high pressure fuel pipes etc.
Hey man. A lot has happened but haven't updated any progress. I changed the system to my Benz and I've run it for almost 1500 Kms and it's getting better by the day. I now have drive modes active, Sport and Comfort. I'll add economy and economy plus soon. Sorry for not uploading an update.
@@salimalsayed6246 I removed my carb and ignition system and swapped with the full EFI system. The stock engine is running very well and it is a single kick everytime. Mileage has improved, more power and it is simply amazing. I am yet to do dyno on it and also do fuel economy on it to get the true figures.
I think your carb and timing need to be tuned for the cold start, at that point you will have power evene when the engine is cold. I have a similar one and it doesnt behave the same
My Benz was originally FD. When I bought it few years back, the previous owner had removed FD due to frustrations and installed carb. With this new setup, many things were missing and wrongly connected. It was running but that was it. Fuel economy was bad, vacuum was leaking, wiring was messed up and much more problems.
I replaced the carb with a better one and began tuning it as I rebuild the car. Details of what goes where was scanty and had to use what's available. For instance, if I turn the AC ON, idle rev drops to approx 500, the setup to regulate this is not there. Cold start system missing. The thing is, I'm happy the way it runs with carb and now want to squeeze more power out of it.
The ignition timing is good and it advances pretty well. I have a timing light to know this. Fuel consumption is fare, 7.3 Kms per liter on heavy traffic jam, 10.4 Kms on highway. How is yours?
@@PeterMbiria1 Cold start regulator is supposed to be controlled by another mechanisim on the side of the carb which is controlled by pressing the accelerator pedal to engage it. It later disengages after the engine starts to warm up. On the power side you can try playing with your timing and Air/fuel ratio
Я согласен. Если присмотреться, то есть недостающие компоненты, которых здесь, к сожалению, нет. Информация о том, как восстановить его изначально, также отсутствует. Поверьте, я старался настроить как мог.
Nice work i recently acquire one with a Carb and i love it
Hola, Peter quiero escuchar sus videos en español pero no se puede.
Well, would subtitles help?
Good work Peter.
Thanks man

How can I details of the co version or are you Selling the kit? Where are you based?
I'm developing the kit and now heading to actual road tests. I'm based in Kenya.

Awesome stuff bro, please can you tell me what setup of Injectors you running on there, I see it fits in perfectly with the intake manifold
I used w203 kompressor fuel injectors, purple ones.
What did you change in the engine and where did you put the crankshaft sensor, and which ecu you run?
And i like your work man, keep going

Hey what do you do and what is the benefit of this comparison

How much does it cost to do a rebuild and conversion to efi?

Должен заводиться нормально, даже в зимний период с температурой -20.

Do you sell these engines?
Hey man, I don't. I can rebuild one if you have but if you want to buy, I have a gentleman friend of mine who sells them.
