Well over two years ago my reverse lights we're noticed that they were not working I thought it was a different wiring issue but since you did yours for very cheap I spent the $17 and got a new one and installed it today and now I have reverse lights that I'm so happy I want to back up everywhere haha thanks
Thank you for posting this I’m trying to get a friends 94 grand Cherokee back on the road. Hers is an automatic. Hoping this will be similar🤞good job on responding to the commenters👍the comment section was very helpful here
I'll be honest I've never worked on the automatic TJ's. It should be similar; but I know on most auto transmissions the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) also handles the reverse lights. I believe Chrysler changed the designs of the NSS somewhere around 2003 (TJ ran until 2006) - so keep that in mind. There are some really good forums out there with guys and gals who've forgotten more than I'll ever know. I appreciate the kind words brother 🤘
Thanks for bringing this up.. This is true some 2005’s and most 2006’s have the NSG370 6 speed. Most 1997-2004 and a few 2005-2006 carries the AX-5, AX-15 or NV3550. The process works as in the video for those. Thanks for bringing this up!

What did you end up doing with the purple & white wires???
They tied into the red and white pigtail.
I see this is a standard transmission, my tj is an automatic and has intermittent back up lights. Would the solution the same?
Yes Adam, the process should be similar! I’d also check for loose wiring! Happy thanksgiving and thanks for watching!
Having reverse light issue 97 wrangler automatic 2.5L i dont see this at all on the car.
Where on the transmission is the plug?
Jeff, The plug is on the passenger side near the 4 wheel drive linkage.
Drivers side
@@jerrywhalen2100 Yeah he's right Drivers side - It's one of them.
Tuck your wiring, dude. Thanks for the rockon and rollin video, too. But good info just need some Dramamine. *erp!*
I'll snail mail you some!!! lol
dose anyones recerse loghts stay on ? i’m having that problem and it’s not the fuse so i’m stuck
Either the switch has failed pushed in, or short to ground.
Unfortunately doesn't apply to 05/06 6 speed TJ's - different switch required

This is not for the 1998. I have three wire plug. And is in a different location that is difficult to get off and on.
What transmission do you have?
This Video is terrible what side of the vehicle are you under ?
