  • Honda Accord A/C (Air Conditioning) Troubleshooting and Service. Honda Accord A/C doesn't work, only blowing hot air. This Accord AC was blowing hot air inside the vehicle, the air conditioning was not blowing any cold air. I troubleshoot the A/C system on this Accord to find out why the air conditioning wasn't working properly and I also recharge/service the A/C system. The exact vehicle in this video is a 1997 Honda Accord EX Sedan. Enjoy!

      I would bet that the leak which is now very small is located in the sharply curved discharge rubber crimped hose towards the right side of the engine compartment. I have this same problem on my 1994 right now, it started out with the leak being so small it was impossible to find it, however now it has gotten big enough you can see the pag oil residue on the side of the black rubber hose right where it crimes in as it migrates up the hose.

    Your video gave me the confidence to go ahead and recharge the coolant system on my 2002 Honda Accord EX (4-cylinder VTEC engine). Interestingly enough, after completing the recharge, my hi/low gauges showed almost the exact same settings you had when you finished. I had never done this before and I'm quite happy with the outcome. My car's air conditioning is now working well. I'm planning to watch some more of your videos. Other UA-camrs would do well to emulate your style. You do a great job. Thanks! - Richie

    I cannot believe the level of detail and knowledge in this video. You're a true pro and an excellent teacher! I don't know anything about cars and I was just searching around for a quick diy fix for my AC but you're explanation of the process and all the different things you consider really helped me understand the entire AC system in my car a lot better! Keep up the great work!

    I like the way you did a long vacuum, some guys seem to finish that phase too quick. When the system goes to vacuum, water can't exist as a liquid so it boils off, but as it does so there is dramatic cooling which can cause small amounts of water to freeze in the condenser and receiver/dryer. Then it takes a while for the solid ice to sublimate to gas and get vacuumed away. It is so nice to see a pro do work like this in a small garage setting. You obviously did this for a living and are now at the phase where you can take time to educate people like myself.

    Great video on Automotive A/C. I have two cars like this one. I love them and have restored them. However, the A/C just died in one and I was looking for component locations, as I suspected a bad pressure switch. Thank You for all your hard work to make this. Aloha and Mahalo from Hawaii.

    Man that is hot 117! Well explained video on auto AC charging. Outside air temp at condenser compared to inside AC air vent temp equals the Delta T. 50 degree difference is pretty good, maximum legal reflective window tint all around and your good. I am in Florida an did a shade tree AC gauge charge. No recovery machine or vacuum pump and I am at a 45 degree Delta T on a 95 degree air temp with 60% humidity on a 93 Accord.

      I agree with you. My 2002 Honda Accord EX went 18 years before it finally lost most of its refrigerant. However, because I was extremely busy, I didn't get around to recharging it until now. But I have to admit, I also feared taking it to a mechanic who might say, "You need a new compressor, and I recommend you also install a new condenser. That and recharging the system will be $1400." 😨Gulp . . . That's about as much as I think I could get for the car. I was able to forego the recharge for four years because summers are cooler here in Idaho. - Richie

    I like the fact that you explained why if the pressures didn't equalize that it could have a restriction. Had my A/C checked, Mech said,1st pressure Check 10LP -75HP. After evac and recharge pressure readings were 105 LOW side-110 HiGH side.ambient temp was in the 90's I live in Colorado. Mech said would only take 9 0z.. But I know the air gap on clutch prevents engagement unless clutch is tapped.Maybe he didn't realize clutch wasn't engaged? And concluded compressor was bad? There is enough refrigerant in system to allow compressor to engage. but only blows hot air. Diverter valve works, A/C condensor fan works.Compressor is not seized but maybe just worn out? Suggestions any one?

    My honda has a hissing noise when not turning the steering wheel. The moment I turn it a bit, the hissing stops. The noise starts about 5 min after turning on my car. Could it be my power steering? or, from what I see, there is a leak somewhere in my AC. Could it be because I didn't use my AC for some time? It's what i'm on right now. Thank you for your video! so i have an 06 honda accord 5spd manual....i recently replaced my compressor, both cooling fans, new condenser and dryer....but after the install, when i press the AC button in the car, nothing happens. I pulled the relay and jumped it and then and only then will the compressor clutch kick on but as you know it needs the relay to disengage and re-engage the compressor so it doent burn itself out. I cant imagine a broken wire since the radio/climate controls havent been removed and tampered with and it worked before the install albeit with a leak in the condenser. What do you think could be my issue?.

    Hi my 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour won't blow cold air. It only has 60,000 miles. I bought it used and the A/C was working when I bought it. What should I start with first to trouble shoot? It seems to blow cool air but just does not cool enough to stay comfortable. I do have a navigation system. thank you for your help.

    The A/C temp blowing should be about 43 Degrees if you want to be comfortable. When I bought my 1994 accord that's the temp it was blowing. Is it possible to
    get that temp down to 42 Degrees?

    Hello, I have a real head scratcher. 2014 Honda Accord, AC not working. List of maintenance and parts change. (some due to damage) Condenser, pressure line, pressure switch, 3 each relays, filter, compressor, R134a, ECU. I bought the car in winter, did not drive for 3 months so when I prepped it for registration and inspection found the AC did not work. Replaced the damaged parts and one by one troubleshot. I bench tested the fans, they both worked, jumpered the compressor clutch and it engaged. So the common thread to this was logical, ECU. I removed it from the car to inspect the pins, nothing bent or broken and the plugs looked good. Reinstalled the ECU started the car again and the AC system worked. I shut the car off because I wanted to duplicate the WIN. The system did not function. I systematically unplugged and reset the ECU to find the top plug was the one to reset the system. I went to Honda, they installed a new ECU and they told me it worked perfectly driving out of the shop to the lot. When I jumped in to drive away, no air. So I unplugged and rest the top plug and it worked. I cannot find on the net the exact wiring diagram for the top plug and what parts of the car it controls. It is obvious that by resetting the plug something in the car resets to allow the AC to work. If you have any wisdom to offer I would greatly appreciate your time and effort.

    I have an 97 Honda accord and can't figure out how the fans works. The fans don't kick on without a.c. but with a.c. on both fans come on but doesn't stay on. They cycle every like 10 seconds and turn off ?

    Great video. Does the bulb sensor that mounted on the evaporator, monitor the temperature and send signals to the ECM to control the compressor on and off ?

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  3 роки тому +1

      No, the bulb and diaphragm (expansion valve) that was depicted is a mechanical metering device. There is typically an evap temp sensor (attached to the evaporator) that sends the evap temperature to the ECM. When the ECM detects that the evap is too cold it shuts off compressor to prevent evaporator from freezing. Thanks for the comment!

    Need help. So driver side blows warm air and passenger side blows cold air. I added ac pro refrigerant and all vents blew cold for 3 days then it reverted back to warm air on driver side and cold air passenger side. If there is a leak why does it not all leak out and blow warm both sides?
