Hey Gavin, recent subscriber here. I really enjoy you videos and your methodical processes along with your detailed explanations. I have a question on reloading shotgun shells....do you think hand loaded brass 410ga shells will run in a 410ga AR & magazine?
Hey Gavin, If your fireforming rounds and seating .02 off of Jam I don't understand how this gauge would work. Would it not show a potential bullet failure, but in actuality your safe to fire?
gavintoobe I have every gauge and comparator tool Hornady makes as well as a couple of RCBS Precision Mics which are only caliber specific. I also have 4 different brands of case gauges with at least one for each caliber I load for. If the depth micrometer can work with other brands of case gauges that I and others may already own I think the initial cost of the depth micrometer would certainly be worth it, especially compared to and if considering buying Precision Mics, since I’m always going to have a case gauge for every cartridge I load for and will always buy a new one when I start to load for a new to me) cartridge.
I don't know, 163.00 for the three pcs, for one cartridge, then the add-on cartridges, @ 75.00/cartridge? for what, something I can do with calipers and the Hornady kits for 100.00 and no extra pcs needed. Is there something magic that they do that the others can't? Don't think so here, Tim.
As the distance from a bullet’s meplat to ogive-bearing surface varies, using OACL for seating depth creates a variance in ‘jump to the lands.’ Seems to me OACL is important only to assure a maximum dimension for reliable magazine feeding. A better tactic is to choose a seating depth to precisely control bullet jump while assuring no cartridge exceeds OACL for that weapon.
It's really both that are important- and every ogive is different- so the Min-Spec gauge is great for COL, and tools like Hornady's OAL gauge and bullet comparator set are also important (ogive to lands)
@@Ultimatereloader I did find a local supplier of the headspace brass gauge however I can't find an overall length one yet. Maybe it's too new for my local market yet - will have to wait and see.
High carbon steel is used because it resists wear but it does rust quickly. Like Ironbomb says, rub a little Imperial sizing die wax on them and they'll stay pristine.
Perfect, mine rusted a little. Glad they changed to brass!! Love their products.
Thanks for the video Gavin. You're costing me money again.
Well, at least you're spending on something good! :)

@@Ultimatereloader whats the differences between using these L.E Wilson case gauges and/or Hornady/Forster datum dials/ headspace gauges?
I love their gages, and am glad to see the new ones.
Would you do a video on the Sheridan Case gauges
Funny because I was just looking I to purchasing the steel versions. Looks like I'll be changing out my shopping cart.

Can the depth micrometer be used with all the case gauges in different calibers and with other brands?
Haven't tried! Not sure what the diameter of the other gauges would be...

Can I trade in my rusty L. E. Wilson case gauges ?
Electrolysis or Evaporust will clean them up in no time.

AM I MISUNDERSTANDING WHAT THE CASE GAUGE IS FOR...IF NOT USING A SAMI CHAMBER
Great info
Do they make the brass case gauge in a 300WM.
If you had to pick only one powder to use for the rest of your life in .223/.556, which powder would you choose?
CFE223.

do you offer a sizer die for 17 hmr?

I would buy it if I only had one caliber to deal with.
What do they sell for ?
$50 for the case guage, $55 for the minimal dimension gauge, and $110 for the micrometer.
@@adeniranm7647 I imagine that's $50 for each case gauge and not for a set etc? Thanks ahead of time for your reply..... good looking case gauges!
About $37. and $40. at Midsouth Shooters Supply
@@MrTlgsr yes sir. But, that's also on the Wilson's website. You'll probably find them cheaper elsewhere.
You need some graphics in addition to your explanations.
$55 for a case gauge? Wow

What I don’t like about Willson is that they get rust very fast 👎 and they are not cheap
Why they use cheap steel?
I use wax to protect my Wilson gages. No contamination, no corrosion. But I like the brass also.
