- The Hughes roller cam is in. The back glass is in. Lights are working. Things are going our way on this 1973 dodge dart swinger. Few things left to knock out, then it’s time to drive!

Wow. Just kind of stumbled onto this video. I've been a dodge man all my life, had two darts and a Valiant when I was younger. Between cars and pickups I don't know how many 318's I've owned, and I've never seen anyone build one like this. Far as I'm concerned it's one of the best engines Dodge has ever made but usually they get swapped out for 340's although I've heard you can get up to 400hp out of the 318. I'm looking forward to seeing this on the road.

HUGE QUESTION! Is that the speedmaster midrise intake you installed? i bought one back in march for my 318. i installed it 4 times.......all four times it leaked water/coolant from the passengers side front corner (before i even started the motor!) i then put the stock intake back on and no leaks. i've been fighting with the company for 2 months now trying to get my money back. i love the look of it and want it to work but cant figure out why it keeps leaking no matter what i do. just curious if you had any issues with it (if it is the speedmaster)
It is a speed master. I haven’t had any issues with it since this video was posted. I had forgotten a plug wasn’t tight when I installed this lol after I changed oil and retightened everything I’ve checked my oil religiously and all is good.

@@BlownBudgetGarage If i can ask you one more question i promise ill leave you alone lol. Did you end up grinding a little bit off of the plugs they include for the Magnum/LA style because mine just wouldn't go all the way in from the factory. did you put RTV inside those plug holes also? And finally, did you put RTV around all the ports or just the water ports?
@@insidegroove21 you’re no bother at all man no worries. I was able to fully seat the plugs as they were. I used a thin coat of rtv to hold the intake gasket in place and that’s it.

Definitely. That stock rear end isn’t gonna hold up to hardly anything
