My system displayed "ER - - -" message. Could not find anything on the net or at Rain Bird's site. Thank you, Butch Newell, and your commentators for giving me the idea of removing the 3V battery, unplugging the power source, and letting the system rest for several minutes. Then, I put the same battery back into the controller, plugged in the power, and POOF! The error-whatever mess reset. The system operates just fine again. Thank you!
I solved my Error 2 issue simply by doing the hard power down (unplug from wall outlet and remove the lithium battery for a few minutes). If the error persists, I'll try the solenoid replacement.
THANK YOU for taking a few extra minutes to make this video, after spending so much time figuring out the solution on your own. THIS is what UA-cam is for!
Thanks, you put me on the right track. I was having a general ERR, never found any wiring issues but finally did get it to reset by unplugging and pulling the battery for about 20 min.
Thanks. It worked. Had to work in a mud filled spider hole with corroded wires. My controller is the ISM-6. To clear the error code I needed to unplug and remove battery.
I have a ESP-8TM that is just giving me Err. I have followed all the steps in replacing the solenoid valve, and taking all power away for 2 minutes and nothing is working. Still getting the Err message. Any ideas?
That’s a tough one. Have you tried pressing the Off button and holding it down for 30 seconds? If that doesn’t work, there might be another solenoid that’s bad? Not sure.
I wish you would have shown the process of disconnecting the solenoid and reconnecting the new one, just to have a more thorough understanding of how to fix this issue.
I wish I did. I tried to look it up myself. If the system isn’t working notice could try to reset the controller with the steps online to see if it will work. If it skips a zone or doesn’t work at all you might need a technician to service it. But I would start with resetting it.
I also have had an ERR2 error message all summer. Now that the rain has stopped, I HAVE to get this fixed asap. This video is very helpful. Thank you! I just wish that you would have shown a little more footage showing how you pulled out and replaced the solenoid. Was it just that one blue wire that you had to do something with? Or other wires as well? I've never had to detach a solenoid and replace it. I'll dig around for another video on that. But this was very helpful. Thanks.
There are two wires that go to each solenoid. The blue wire is what identified the specific zone/solenoid and yours could be different. Try just pressing the off button and holding it for 5-7sec to see if the error resets. Might fix the issue without doing any digging.
@@butchnewell Thanks Butch! Last night I was able to get it running! I tightened the wire on the control panel. That didn't seem to help (but it may have since it seemed a bit loose). I unplugged it from the electrical outlet. The error code was still there. So I unplugged it again, and removed the 9 volt battery as well. THAT WORKED! It removed the error code, and I was able to get everything working normally again. Thanks so much!
And interestingly........ Earlier in the day when I went to that zone in the yard and took the round plastic lid off of the box, what did I see way down at the bottom?? TWO FROGS! They were down near the solenoid on the dirt (about 10 inches below ground level). This is totally inexplicable. There was no way to get in there except a small finger hole on the green plastic lid, as far as I can tell. That lid hasn't been removed for 2 years. My only guess is that these two poor frogs were babies, and hopped in through the finger hole. Then they have lived their entire lives there. I took them out and set them free under a cypress tree. They are both alive and well, and seemed happy enough. So a happy ending indeed!
I know thi was a long time ago but I cant find shit online for my error. Im getting the error no AC when I try to run manually and the error code seems to be a 7 then a backwards 7 next to each other. So I dont know if thats simply zone 7 or all sectors and maybe power to a main valve. Any ideas?
That is a weird one. I wish I knew more about rain birds, and could help you, but I don’t. Maybe somebody reading these comments might be able to make a good suggestion.
@@butchnewell Thanks for responding! I think it might be something valve related, maybe solenoids. Cause the controller and wireless rain meter are recieving power from the outlet and all has new batteries. But when I go to run it every zone pops up No AC, some screens blink and it moves onto the next zone, same error for each one. So it feels like the valves/solenoids arent recieving power.
