Just whiff OS cr mk/cr mp and even st mp into run dp. If they neutral jump, run dp. Fireball spam, run dp. RUN DP IS LOVE, RUN DP IS LIFE!

The Quick Dash priority is killing me! Not a fan of that one at all. It is so painful dropping combos that I had 99% execution rate on before.

Do you guys usually do the motion and let go of the direction before doing OD moves? Just wondering why so many people seem to have an issue with it

This doesn't effect me at all, I'm pretty precise with my buttons since I use stick, I like the new changes ken got slightly buffed imo
I didn't know I was realising the input before pressing but I guess I was. Nuts
Regarding the Run/OD priority:
- Run has priority if no directional input is pressed (Neutral)
- OD has priority if the last directional input of the motion is held.
What I mean is if you hold the last back of tatsu when inputting kicks, you will get OD tatsu with the same buffer window as before the patch.

The setup your talking about around the 3:00 minute mark - if you DR - MK into MP for the frame trap, the MP more often than not will either get blocked or counter hit, which you can then combo into better things than to finish the target combo. I know you know this, I say this to say I haven't noticed the target combo change much but I think it's because almost always if I try to frame trap with the standing MP, I get a counter hit with it, allowing better options than the target combo confirm. As always, LOVE your videos, thanks so much for these.
Dash priority is literally an issue and it makes no sense
No other character has to get PERFECT inputs to do a simple qcb or qcf special
It's a quarter circle. It can't be that hard
The input isn't the issue. The issue is you're forced to hold the final input or press the kick buttons immediately which leaves very little room regarding the buffer window
With practice it shouldn't be an issue but I imagine many Ken's will still get run by mistake here and there in combos
Capcom made this change BUT I feel the inputs after making this change are worse than things we're before. Many players are not a fan of this change
@@dragonic22 is not that is hard, is just that is weird as shit. Having to hold a direction for OD to work is so odd when honestly that was never an issue, at least i never had a problem with RUN or OD before.
I think the only weird thing i had issues with is misjudging anti air with DP.
Regarding last point on where to use new Run DP buff:
Maybe Kens should rely more on PC/DR cr.jab/st.MP, cr.HP xx H Jinrai, OD DL, Run DP. After perfect parry, after close punish counter, or during PC of a missed cross-up jump-in.
I also saw I think AngryBird or FChamp showcase how EX Fireball > DR HP/MK, cr.MK can now cancel into run DP for more damage and corner carry and oki.
is there any chance that quick-dash priority will change at a later date? i didn't like this change either and i started to drop my combos sometimes :/
4:40 ... That's basically my most used BNB block string and it is just now sinking in that I could have been using it after a DRC... I mean, I knew I could, but I just never bothered to, got into the habit of always going for a low right off rip. Time to break the habit and mix it up.

Ken overall got some nice changes, I don't complain and say that he got nerfed. Just these two specific changes were a little annoying

I actually have the opposite with issue with combo inputs where I always input early. Messing with akuma I really feel like the timing on things has less leniency than it used to. Or maybe he just has weird timing

Back in S1 I envied Ken's chin buster frame traps so much but now not only did he lose it, but my main (Juri) actually got a ghetto version of it with her mp>hp string lol
I do think it's really sad that they're removing hit confirms from mediums, hit confirming is one of the most satisfying things in Street Fighter to me.
One thing I like about the target combo change is that it actually makes linking MP into CR.HP easier. I wasn't really confirming the medium punch anyway, but that's probably also because I am a scrub. I did have problems with accidentally getting the target combo when I wanted CR.HP though in the beginning of learning Ken. But I agree that the change kind of sucks.
As a ken main I think he got buffed, slightly. Od dragonlash or run dragonlash midscreen can be connected into light jinrai 2x and in the corner you can get a full lvl3
I think the OD change is irrelevant, you only need to hold the directional input while pressing the kicks to get OD moves and you get more consistent run in neutral so sort of a buff, but the Chin Buster change sucks and they shouldn’t have nerfed the hit confirm, especially when they nerfed damage scaling from jabs in the same patch. There is a bigger reason to go for Chin Buster directly now (damage) instead of from crouch jab
Yeah I don't feel the kick priority change is an issue but it does mean reprogramming muscle memory. It does feel old holding the button I feel but time will tell. The fact we won't get specials when we want run is good
The Chin Buster change is rough. I don't see any point in using it other than when confirms are on point OR in combo damage.
I tested CR HP punish counter > run stop combos, doing the CR Jab before Chin Buster still does more damage when you want a run Tatsu
@@RushG what i don’t like about it is combos feel less snappy and more mushy(?) when i hold the inputs. i’ve gotten used to it after a day but the combos just feel a tad less satisfying for me to do now idk

I've never had a problem with the run priority thing and I wasn't confirming a raw 5MP either. What I see is better whiff punishes with PC 5HP 2MK run DP

Overall, this patch was a disappointment from the Ken perspective. Having said that, have you noticed the change to the Blowback on his enhanced DP ender? Previously, if you used his enhanced DP to end a combo midscreen, you couldn't really pressure the opponent without spending Drive if they did a back rise. But with the reduced blowback, you can now do a dash up and be one frame away from throw range. This means, you can now do meaty throw midscreen after the enhanced DP ender for zero drive spend.
Now I know that most people will decide to get the corner carry with his enhanced tatsu instead of the damage, but it's something right?

7:20 that's why I don't use the mutli button macro. And I play on pad. The only way I can hit 3 kicks is by hitting 3 kicks. If I do an OD move I only use two attack buttons. If I play Zangief I do set up the simultaneous input thing so I can OD Lariat without having to change my grip, but as far as things like DI, Parry, Grab, OD moves, Quick step, I always press two buttons. I just feel like using the macros is bad for execution. I'll admit, my thumb slips sometimes and I'll hit DI instead of parry and things like that ocasssionally and it wouldn't happen with the macros... But I feel like I'm better off improving my thumb movements rather than turning on the macros... Plus before I turned them off I kept accidentally tapping the DI button lol.
This isn't to do with pressing 3 kick buttons or 2 kick buttons. You'll still get Ken's run if pressing 2 kick buttons together
The issue is you have to HOLD the final directional input of the special before pressing multiple kick buttons. Let go of the direction and you'll get run regardless of 2 kick or 3 kick buttons

Man, the priority change is a pain in ass. Why would they do that?
I think it's because if you tried to whiff punish in neutral with Run DP you would often get an OD move instead. So this made the run the focus of his toolset. In principle that's a nice thing to do, but the outcome is that it's more frustrating to play the same character then it was before. Which is a pretty big fail if you ask me!
Don't sweat it dude. Most of our complaints in this game are just a skill issue. Just use this to make you a better player 👍

They did this to him in most of sfv specially changing his target combo from 4 to 5 frames. And every season they kept nerfing him until late life of sfv. They start Ken off strong and then nerf him seasons after. Not sure why they do this to him.

If you like Akuma I'm happy for you. If you feel being asked to confirm a little bit of a harder situation to have good pressure is too much... Come on now.
I know people talk like folks just pick the best shoto but that's not true, ken and Ryu and Akuma are all always very popular. Play the one you like, not the one you feel is strongest... Especially not on patch day. Let it breathe at least.

could you go for 2 medium punches after the drive rush crouching jab?
I found CR LP, CR MP to be another good option, if you get counter hit CR MP it links into Stand LK, damage again isn't great.
Another option is to do CR LP, Stand MP and confirm on hit into Stand LP or CR MP (CR MP on counter hit Stand MP), need to test to see what's best bang for your buck in matches

Makes no difference, Ken's run is done by pressing 2K not 3K. Your need to change Ken's run to 3K and all OD moves to input special motion and 2K to separate them from each other
All this talk about Ken being the worst shoto while I’m choosing to main Ken over Ryu and Akuma 😅. I think Ken is cooler than both.
Ive never used chin buster as a frame trap, thats more of a SF3-4 item that was useful and not so much in 6. I will say this tho...... This GOD DAM run situation is absolute BS.... I was getting run instead of kicks in the corner to the point where I thought my button was broken on mu stick. Not sure why they did this but they need to fix this.

Most weren't confirming it before in all honesty. They were just doing Chin Buster into Jinrai kicks mindlessly. They'll still do this but there is now no gap between the target combo
@RushG Yeah, but that's the thing. With the late cancel it was a free frame trap. I don't really care about the autopilot blockstring it was the late cancel that made it suffocating.
Sucks that instead of spending the first week of new patch learning new optimal combos, we're spending it relearning old combos that are still optimal because he didn't get any meaningful new routes
