I got NINE straight times with the stupid T Mobile ad when I tried to refresh it so I wouldn't have to listen to it before the 10th attempt was successful in getting rid of it. PS Once the Mets got to the 2000 WS and the Evil Empire was on the other side it was going to be either ecstacy or agony as nothing is better (or worse) than beating (or losing) to the Yankees at ANYTHING. My sincerest hope as a Mets fan is to see the 2000 WS avenged before I leave this world.

Mets first year at Citi Field was a rough one. Plummeted to a 70-92 due to injuries to Delgado, Reyes, Beltran, Wagner, etc.
That was also the year Daniel Murphy led the entire team in homers with 12 because Citi Field it’s first season had an insanely deep outfield

I attended this game with my dad. As a 12 year old wearing an ‘86 Strawberry jersey, sitting in a section of almost exclusively Yankees fans, when the Mets came back late following Wright’s double off the wall off of Mariano, I started talking my trash. The roar of the the stadium and the sound of my fathers “NOOOO!” cutting through it all as Castillo dropped the ball is forever burned into my memory. Once Texiera crossed the plate, the fan behind me poured a beer on my head, and the dude next to him poured another. As we left Yankee stadium, it looked like the rapture of Mets fans had happened. Jerseys thrown out into the trash, hats jammed into handrails, a newspaper machine that had 3 Mets hats and a Jose Reyes shirtsey draped over it.
I’ll never forget that game, but it was one hell of a fun day.

Carlos Beltran, during his brief tenure as a Yankees commentator, once said that he will occasionally text Luis Castillo, "Luis, I need to ask you something. Can you talk?" Luis will then answer, "Sure, Carlos. Anytime." Then Carlos will call him and say, "Hey, Luis. How did you drop that ball against the Yankees?" And Luis will be like, "Man, I can't believe I fell for this again." Incredible bit by Carlos Beltran.

A detail about Castillo's career that's often overlooked is that he had the go ahead single, against the Yankees, in game 6 of the 2003 World Series. The Marlins won the game 2-0 so his RBI, effectively, won the game for Florida. It's a shame that he's basically remembered for this moment, and not that one 😭

I was at this game with my uncle (who's a Mets fan and I'm a Yankees fan) and I remember what a classic game this turned out to be. A see-saw battle with a lot of lead changes and ties and then with the Yankees trailing by one with two outs in the ninth with the tying run at second and the go ahead run at first with A-Rod at the plate. I'll never forget after seeing A-Rod pop it up to Castillo and slams his bat in frustration thinking he ended the game my uncle said to me "sorry bud" and all of the sudden I saw Castillo drop the ball and was like jumping up and down and going crazy while my uncle was like "WTF just happened?" because it's so rare when a big leaguer drops an easy pop up like that. It's a catch they make 99 times out of 100. Such a great game that I was lucky to be at and a magical year for the Yankees! Miss that team!

I grew up in New York during the 60's and 70's. We used to laugh at cities like Philadelphia and Atlanta. Loserville we called them. But considering the fact that the Knicks haven't won anything in 50 years. The Rangers have exactly two cups since 1940, the Islanders haven't been relevant since the "drive for five", the Nets haven't won a championship since their ABA days, the Jets since the AFL was still in business and the Mets are currently experiencing a 38 year drought it seems painfully obvious that the Big Apple must now wear that mantle. Especially considering the obscene amount of money these franchises have spent to get there. Most of these teams suffer from the same dilemma: Trying to keep their rabid fanbase satisfied with quick fixes. High priced, washed up free agents and ill advised trades. New York sports franchises prove Albert Einstein's definition of insanity. Even now the Knicks, Yankees and Mets are talking about mortgaging their futures for instant success. Good luck fellas. See you in another 50 years.

0:13 Did she say "Mets’s"? I know it would be spelled "Mets’" but is it supposed to be pronounced that way? It just struck me as odd.

Nobody ever asked what in the hell RF Ryan Church was doing. He runs away from the play instead of getting the ball and throwing it in.

Postscript: The NY Mets Would Finish 2009 With A Disappointing Record Of 70-92! They Were Marred With Injuries To Key Players Including Luis Castillo Who Muffed That Pop Up Fly Ball & The Pitching & The Bullpen Sucked Again! 💔😢😭💔

Why did the footage end right after the game was won? Are you going for Mets' fan authenticity? So they can feel like they were watching live?
