    Hey great vid, Im 45 years old and has been about 15 years since I last skated vert, although its never stopped calling me. Im currently in the process of setting up a new deck and watching your vid has echoed alot of important factors as far as taking it slow and getting to know my new ride first to avoid any major injuries.😐

    I don't like super slippery wheels. A little slippy is okay but I prefer a little more grip for alot safer ride. Mob griptape is super grippy but too sharp and hurts the skin hands and can cause alot of what is called shark bites when the edges of the griptape saws into your shins when you bail. I sand down the edges and the nose and tail areas whereever you grab to pick up the skateboard. This really helps alot to save my skin especially my thumb print areas.

    Wouldn't recommend 60mm wheels without risers.

  • @PirateJamm

    I’ve noticed you don’t use rider pads with the 60mm wheels?!
    Did you notice and wheel bite? Or any tips on avoiding wheel bite?
    I prefer a lower deck but I’ve also had terrible wheelbite in the past mid ramp lol

    That sticker bomb job it sweet.
    I was doing a similar 1P based 1 but i was afraid the grip tape wouldn't stick to the stickers...i ended up transferring the whole sheet to the bottom were it'll get destroyed...
    Have you had any issues with it peeling up?

    You don't need risers for the trucks with that size of wheel?

    • @LewisFarley

      Possibly if I was to skate my trucks super loose but because it's for vert, my trucks are extremely tight!

    Hey Lewis, just checking in and wanting to hear how the griptape has bene holding up; I've been hearing the MOB Griptape loses grip over time pretty easily.
    Great set up video!

    • @LewisFarley
      @LewisFarley  3 роки тому +1

      Hey mate, the mob has been great so far. I've never had the issue of mob losing grip really - maybe with the free griptapes that stores usually provide but I wouldn't worry too much about it, even with jessops you're pretty safe!

    i started skateboarding about a month ago bought a complete complete deck, 8 inch 53 mm wheels and I wished I just saved my money. I only got into skating for vert and transition, not really interested in being able to kickflip yet, used to be able to heelflip when i was like 14 but that was a long time ago :D on my 8 inch deck when my toes touch one side like 1/3 of my shoe is of the board. so I am going to setup my own board, 8.5 inch 56 ml wheels and indy trucks, what size are the indy trucks im looking for if i want the wheel to be equal with board ?

    • @jordanbowey4175
      @jordanbowey4175 3 роки тому +1

      Buy some black Indy bushings. They're the hards. I'm guessing you have the orange bushings which are mediums.
      I skate the hard and can still street but am a lot more stable for vert.

    • @McBride996
      @McBride996 3 роки тому

      @@jordanbowey4175 I ended up getting Bones Hard bushings and they started off great and now even they feel soft. I’m starting to think it’s Indy Mids that are the issue as they don’t seem to tighten as much as a normal kingpin. I will be trying Indy hards though at some point.

    • @jordanbowey4175
      @jordanbowey4175 3 роки тому +1

      @@McBride996 my personal experience with the bones bushings were they broke down really quick. I've had a good experience with the indy bushings in the last 4 years of skating them. I'm sure there's other brands that also do good or better bushings but I lack the experience with them to suggest them.

    a guy at my park said shoe size determines board size. when i said "thinner board for street and wider board for vert" they looked at me like i was an alien

    • @LewisFarley
      @LewisFarley  3 роки тому

      It all comes down to preference at the end of the day but thinner boards are definitely more ideal for street because it's going to be easier to do flip tricks (less effort) and wide boards give you more balance for fast speeds like you would experience on vert. Bigger shoes sizes are also more suitable for bigger deck sizes but again, it just comes down to feeling comfortable
