Not really. To be honest, almost every bit of power the Doctor has in those situations comes from everyone else being a pussy.

Again, every time it's because everyone just stands around listening to him and then backing down. That is part of why I love hat scene where the alien kills Bill Potts. It's the same thing in multiple encounters with multiple enemies.

To me the twelfth is the ultimate incarnation of the Doctor. I don't know how I will be able to watch after he goes, even though I've been a fan of Doctor Who for more than 30 years. He sums up everything I've ever loved about the Doctor. The Doctor is old and young, wise and foolish, funny and cold, loving and dangerous - lonely and needy and sad and giving and brave and.... And Peter Capaldi captures all that more perfectly for me than any other actor I've seen in the part. I love the way he speaks, the way he moves, the expression on his face as he responds to situations before he even speaks a line, the way he carries himself like a lord with such grace and yet can also seem so awkward and play the clown. The Doctor feels so deeply but disguises it with sarcasm, he loves so completely and yet denies it even to himself. This video is so him, and a wonderful tribute to a wonderful relationship and a wonderful series.

I couldn't agree more! I've only been watching doctor who for a few years, I caught up with the show right before Peter's season aired and It took me a while but i'v 100% fallen in love with him. I love him so so much and I agree with you, he is such an amazing doctor! I've thought about it and I am so scared for when he regenerates because this is the doctor I got to know at the same time as everyone else, I saw the hype and the excitement in this fandom and it felt amazing. he welcomed me into the fandom and I don't ever want to see him leave.
ElevenMisrule i agree completely..I think anyone who doesn't like him only saw the first season with him and not the recent one, which was so perfect..being stuck in the loop for billions of years and going to Gallifrey, the two box scene, he is just immaculate as the doctor.
I never thought I'd like a doctor more than Tennant. Matt was great and did embody all those aspects just as well, especially the young body old mind aspect, but capaldi brings sooo much weight to the character
David will always hold a special place in my heart as he was my first doctor but I couldn't agree more about capaldi

Can be, the problem is a lot of enemies back down for plot reasons or out of fear of the doctors past acts despite having him defenseless and at their mercy.
Hell, half of them just basically give up the second he raises his voice. They are so scared that instead of looking at what he has the capabilities of doing in that instance they just assume he cannot be beaten and stop trying.

Tonight he'll regenerate, and I'm not ready. Nine was happy to go, but I miss him every time I think about Who. 10 broke my heart, he should've had a happy ending, I think he may have endured more and lost so much more. 11 was so light at first, it was so wonderful to see him haply, but then he lost people and friends. 12 had a special spot and I am already crying just thinking of him leaving.
I once said the same for Tom Baker.

The subtext of their relationship was easily the best thing about Moffat’s era. So much bubbling just beneath the surface, never really commented on. Left it to the imagination to the point where it felt tasteful, but when you edit it all together it’s undeniable. That look he gives her in Face the Raven after kissing her hand, especially in the context of this video, is jaw-dropping.
That depends on when Moffat's era began. If it only spanned the 12th doctor's run, than I can easily see that being the truth. However, if it spanned 9, 10, 11, and 12, than it is most definitely not the truth. I mean, 9 had the whole Satellite 5 event where Rose Tyler had the TARDIS inside of her and she annihilated the god of the Dalek's, and 10 had the Time Lord Victorious, and 11 had the Statue of Liberty being a Weeping Angel. It doesn't get much cooler than the Statue of Liberty being a Weeping Angel.
Oh I hate their relationship, and I hate Clara as well so my opinion is quite useless

This video... It truly captures why I love Peter Capaldi. His portrayal of the Doctor is perfect, simply because his Doctor isn't. 12 struggles to understand why people don't appreciate life like he does. Because of this he seems out of touch with humanity but that is just the nature of living for 1000's of years. He blurs the lines of a good and bad man and rightfully so because he isn't simple. He isn't generic. He is complicated in all of the right ways and I love it :) He is full of compassion but not necessarily compassion for humans, but for life.
Then you add Clara. Who is by far the best companion. She is brilliant and clever, but fragile and a risk taker. A human molded by the Doctor to be Doctor like which is both what the Doctor wants to see and what he regrets to see. I see them as a love story but not a sexual love story. One where the Doctor realizes what he has created with Clara and in doing so not only respects her as a peer but beyond all things he doesn't want to lose her. To him it is like losing a fellow time lord and he goes to the end of the universe for her.
When you add these elements together it creates an amazing compelling Doctor that imo has gone above and beyond. A Doctor who has faults but those faults have led him to saving millions of lives. And interestingly enough time is short, even for the Doctor, because relatively he is only seconds of an eternity.
Sorry for the long winded comment, but this video really made me think about this past wonderful season that we have been given...

I honestly hate so many of Clara's moments... It's almost as if she has some weird split personality thing... Furthermore, she's a Mary Sue... Not just because she's really, really good... But she changes established reality in the plot just to fit her sue-ness... She's almost like some sort of bland, self insert fan fiction Original character XD... Anyways that's just on the top of my head... I haven't bothered to analyze her character too much or I might cringe... If there's one thing that made up for it for me though, is the twelfth doctor's very wise character. He feels like a very ancient, tired man with so much wisdom...
I also hate how there are times when they just "forget" things, leaving plot holes... Want an example? The Eleventh Doctor lies about having a plan whilst being in a Truth Field... Want another? Remember Danny Pink's descendant? yeah... I think those should be enough

I completely agree, his detachment from time itself; knowing he will have no impact on seeing that moment in time will always be breathe taking. He was the despaired, not the fighter like the 9th, or the lover like the 10th or the happy go lucky like the 11th; He did not want to lose them again… but he did and he always will

I continue to be amazed at how many people are totally oblivious that the most epic love story TV has shown us in 10 years played out on Doctor Who in Series 9 but they didn't recognize it even when it rolled right over them.

Almost 5 years later, and this still is one of my favorite doctor who tributes. Series 9 is one of the best and never fails to make me cry, 12 will always be my doctor... capaldi just embodies the character, it's perfect

0:27 to 0:29 is the best image of the Doctor. He's standing there with red teary eyes filled with nothing but absolute anger that he can't stop what's about to happen to Clara. Yet he doesn't shout, he doesn't burst into tears. He stands there trying to bottle it all in and fight back his fear. So all he does, is cry. And he cries because he's being the absolute bravest he can be, just for her, while she is being the absolute bravest she can be. Because he's the Doctor.
Best written companion, best acting, best on screen chemistry and performance. Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi.. I would watch anything they are in together.
I think it's so interesting because they already had great chemistry with 11 and then 12 came along and Clara acted like they would never recover as friends and they became closer thab ever after that
The Twelfth is easily the most underrated doctor ever. His arc of self discovery and maturation. He’s an all powerful god who’s trying to get over his bitterness from the war, and I’m truly surprised by the fact that as time went on, my love for him only increased. The way I see it the Doctor was damaged and in a dark place after Amy and Rory left and he had a hole in his heart again. After opening up to Clara and trusting her he saw the beauty of loving in the moment; as said be the doctor in 'The Girl Who Lived' of S09E06: "People like us, we go on too long. We forget what matters. The last thing we need is each other. We need the mayflies. You see the mayflies, they know more than we do. They know how beautiful and precious life is because it’s fleeting". This is the Doctor talking to ME/Ashildr about the world.
In regards to clara I believe he has a platonic relationship but an extremely strong connection with her

Last week I caught up with NDW. I started watching it back in October. As of today, my heart is divided between 9 and 12. And for the past week I've been coming back to this video almost daily. Capaldi is simply an amazing actor.

I've watched the TheGaroStudios Doctor Who playlist so many times. There is so much story and so many themes packed into all these Doctor Who edits. He manages to capture so many quintessential things about who the Doctor is and who they strive to be. In this video, if you know the context behind all the lines of dialogue in this video and focus too hard on that then you are just remembering the plot of season 9. Let the weight of each line hit on it's own. In other words, at the start of this video, just listen to the desperate pain in that first word, "Clara." Don't retell the whole story of Face the Raven. Let the music amplify the emotions and don't focus too hard. If you do it right then the central themes of Doctor Who, compassion, mercy, hope, courage, and kindness, all pop out like an audible equivalent of those 3d images that you only see if you focus on them exactly right. In this video in particular, I still think all of those shine through even in the face of the anger, the righteous fury, and the heartache that is captured in this same video. It's a perfect start to a fantastic playlist about the Doctor because it captures what in my opinion is truest thing about life that you can get from this show. That is, being good is often so hard but we should always strive to be good anyway.

I didn't watch the last 4 episodes of the 9th series until today and the last episodes broke my heart. The Doctor and Clara's words hurt more and deeper because they range so so true. You see, I lot a dear friend beyond the veil not a couple of months ago and every word makes me think of him... and it's all the days they stay dead that are the worst.
And this video is so so...it chokes my breath and hurts and makes me remember. I love it and hate it and cannot stop watching it again and again.
I think this tribute & Marglife Missy/12 tribute are my favorite Doctor Who compilations.

Peter was the best doctor.. and I never enjoyed Who more than during his tenure.. Clara always was my fav. Companion.. Jenna and Peter had such a great onscreen chemistry… I am glad I stopped watching when Capaldi left.. from what I read it was the best possible moment to leave the show.

I enjoyed the 12th Doctor. I didn’t nothing continuing after Clara left and heard it kinda got worse after that. I love all the Doctors, but 9 and 12 always felt under appreciated. 10 and 11 are amazing, but something about the reserved soldier coming from a war (9) and an old man tired of struggle (12) seemed so much more interesting.

What you have done here is made a video that shows a man with survivor's guilt; a mental condition that occurs when a person perceives themselves to have done wrong by surviving a traumatic event when others did not.
It's something that i strongly believe that doctor has had since 9/10. And you've captured it perfect through 12th Doctor

A beautiful tribute to the spirit of Doctor Who as well as the 12th Doctor's and Clara's relationship plus their interactions with others throughout the series. Truly spectacular! The one dislike on this is what seriously annoys me though. Oh well to each their own I guess.

Clara isnt a bad companion. She’s not my personal favorite, but I like how close she gets to the doctor and understanding. I felt like it was more of a friendship with 12 which I also enjoyed.
