@@PugetSoundFlyer I am 59 years old and she has had a very hoarse voice all the way back to " It's A Heart Ache " and earlier..." Lost In France " 1973
I had to go to the music video to fully appreciate the 'exorcism' he spoke of and now it is clear what he had to pull out of Bonnie Tyler for this masterpiece.
wow. He is making her work (and I mean that in a good way) to move in and out of clean voice and get that grit she does is not easy. she is amazing as is Jim!! This is such a gem of a moment!!
I love this! Jim showed he was patient, but had a vision for the song that was deliberate Ms Tyler was magnificent. She understood there was a greater vision for the song. Yielded to the experience, and had a major hit.
Steinman definitely seems to be operating at genius level here. He rattles off every detail of the industry, its history and the songwriting artform in rapid succession without missing a beat. He knows exactly what he wants in his direction of Bonnie. You can hear all the raw power in her voice come out as he shapes it into the song's final form.
OMG,I had no idea how much hard work went into Total Eclipse of the Heart.Bonnie shows what a consummate professional she is ,Jim clearly respects her ,this is a beautiful moment in time between 2 legends ,awesome
Just amazing.. wonderful to see it from the beginning. And to see it in 2019 how it came out to be the song that it is. It's AMAZING.. I USED TO LISTEN TO IT BACK THEM AND TO THIS DAY I STILL DO IT.. NEVER GET TIRED OF HEARING IT... KEEP IT UP BONNIE..
those beautiful angels! i'm so happy they started working together, shes perfect for singing his songs! and he seems so wonderful to work with, hes an absolute dream
Jim Steinman and Bonnie Tyler teamed up to create this masterpiece of a song at the right time. Bonnie's voice changes so much throughout her years of singing 1976 (Lost in France and It's a Heartache 1978) to 1983 (Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding out for a Hero 1984) Bonnie's voice was so different. If you listen to her singing Total Eclipse live in 1988/89 it sounds different again. Jim Steinman definitely got the vocals that he wanted at the right time within a 5 year gap Bonnie's voice changed again. Incredible songwriter, fantastic singer - result = Total Eclipse of the Heart ❤️ 💙 💜
Ugggg. Either let me hear Jim and Bonnie working on the song, or let me hear Bonnie talking. Both at the same time makes it hard for me to truly hear either.
Jm Steiman was probably the most unknown and underappreciated talent in modern music history.. simply Brilliant
He really pushed her voice !! She was all ways hacking her head off !! Was she a smoker ?? I don't know ????
You must be kidding...or very young :)

Even Bonnie did not know what her voice was capable of. But Jim did, and persisted. And boy did he get a legendary performance out of it. Amazing 🤩
