Yeah, it was frustrating for sure... But I think part of that is because Black Panther was always meant to be a bigger character than Blade and we finally got that. But pretending he didn't exist was the problem

Remember, that time the comic book movies were a mess with the disappointing Spawn movie and Batman & Robin. Marvel had no movies back then prior in the 90's save for that forgettable 1990 Captain America movie. The 1994 Fantastic Four movie no one even knew about because it never left the set. So yeah. It's nothing on Ali but it's more to do with just getting the character right. And that takes everyone: actor, director, writers, producers. Wesley brings in a while legion of fans that's remniscent of everyone cheering for Hugh Jackman Wolverine. People still screaming for another Andrew Garfield Spider-Man move and a Tobey McGuire one after No Way Home. Marvel Studios also could have hired new actors for Daredevil, Kingpin and Punisher, but notice they didn't. They even brought back Karen and Foggy when initially they were cut. That says a lot. People like these actors in these roles. It's crazy Marvel Studios turned down John Wick director Chad Stahlenski when he said he'd love to do a Blade movie. Instead? They hired two unknown directors who now both quit. The leaked scripts sounded horrible. How in the hell did we get Ms Marvel, The Marvel's, She-Hulk, Echo, a horrible rendition of Secret Invasion, an Agatha Harness show, a disappointing Ant-Man 3, a disappointing Thor Love & Thunder, all before a proper Blade movie. Priorities are in the toilet over there...

The truth is, Wesley Snipes got done dirty on Blade 3, there were promises made to Wesley Snipes in order to get him back, once he agreed and signed on to do the movie they pulled the Okie doke . He was told that he had script approval that he was going to be involved in every aspect of the movie, they changed things up on Wesley Snipes. They basically took control from him. Once he was signed on he was contractually obligated to do the movie, he regrets how he handled things but he was very disappointed and in how they basically took his movie and made it about the other guys instead of Blade. He even said in an interview many years ago, isn't like taking over Rambo from Sylvester. Stallone it's just not gonna happen, Sylvester Stallone sets the tone for Rambo. Snipes was supposed to set the tone for how the character Blade would go and he got robbed. Hollywood put out a rumor, a lie saying that Snipes was difficult to work with to try to keep him from getting other roles, no other actor or studios ever had anything bad to say about working with W. S. In fact there were people like Sylvester Stallone who had only great things to say about working with him and called him right after he got out of prison to do the movie Expendables 3. In fact the part was written just for him. Eddie Murphy enjoyed working with him so much he offered him a part in Coming 2 America which was there second movie together. W. S is in great shape and if he wants it the fans definitely want it and we have wanted for a very long time. So let's get Westley Snipes back as the one and only BLADE.
Yeah, there was a lot on non sense going on behind the scenes with Snipes. That's the thing, I feel like these guys are more guilty for what they did to him and now they want to give him the send off. But where was this energy in 2019 when Ali was announced you know? We always knew Snipes was a great actor, outside of Blade he's still a legend. But I think its been too long.

Respectfully, the passing of the torch Narrative is completely out of sync and wrong just like Mahershala Ali trying to ice-skate uphill to play BLADE. Wesley Snipes is BLADE, Deadpool & Wolverine is the evidence of that alone.
The crowd did go crazy when they saw him, but also think about the future of the MCU. Are we really expecting to see a 70 year old Blade? Lets say they started filming this year. By the time the movie released Snipes would be 65. If Snipes actually ends up playing Blade that movie wouldnt be released until AFTER 2026!

@kaylex3 What brought Wesley Snipes version of Bade to life was Wesley Snipes. version of his version can only be played by him. He brought a style that only a black person could bring, and only he could bring that. Another great example of a film to watch is (Demolition Man) It's the style that he brings to life. we may get another Blade one day. But when we got a good we've got a good. I really hope if they do it again somebody can bring a really fresh take to it. Cause there never gonna live up to what he did.

I Love Ali's work as Cottonmouth, can't picture him as Blade. Snipes made a great impression on the collective, it would be very hard to accept from the hard core fans abroad. Ali would make an excellent Brother voodoo.

They can easily reconcile Westley Snipes as blade and a younger actor, by using the element of time, or doing a story based far in the future as blade does not age like normal people, and if he's noticably older in the movie, its because he's probably 100 years old in cannon.
We did not see them get devoured.... It actually implies that they survived. And this is the first time I've seen anyone not want Wesley back as blade....
I don't want him back personally. I'm a massive Blade fans, Nightstalkers is one of my favourite comics ever made.. Wesley was legendary in the role but Blade the character was around 25 years before the movie and was awesome before and after it. He's been great in many comics, cartoons and games without Wesley. Eventually, we gotta move on. Blade will be around after Wesley passes, and after you and I pass. There is gonna be another person to play that role, it's a timeless character with years of great stories from the comics to adapt. If you REALLY and truly love Blade, you want him to continue to be represented through the ages alongside his other brethren in the Marvel world. Most of these fans are not truly fans of Blade, they want the reboot to fail so they can be correct. They don't want a new good Blade movie, they're obsessed with the past and have no interest in seeing a great character being brought to life.

I really would like to see Wesley in another blade movie. They can do an old man sendoff like Logan and then Ali can pick up the mantle of blade. I think it would be more accepting to us fans that way.
My fear is that fans would still be upset because its been a while since we seen Snipes and then he just gets killed off in the next movie... its a bit odd

Nobody wants that dude as Blade there's only one Blade and that's Westley 💯 that other dude is exactly the same as the forgotten Blade tv show. Wesley's Blade is like the Conan Saga other people may have played him but Arnold Schwarzenegger's acting made people fall in love with the character .
I think most people are missing a point in the whole "new era cinema". There are some characters that you just can't "reboot" and ignore what came before. And Wesley Snipes Blade is one of them. Blade I is such an iconic movie that it can't be ignored - it was the first big hit Marvel had at cinema after a lot of failed trials - that is why: there is only ONE Blade. RDJ Iron man and Chris Evans Captain America - none of them had any previous movie/iconic actor playing those character to be compared with. And look how bad both situations have developed in MCU: there is need for an Iron man and for a Captain, but how to do it without both actors? So, RDJ is coming back as "evil Tony Stark multiverse Doom" (and probably will fail) and they destroyed the Black Falcon in search of a new capt. I believe that was the problem with the new Blade movie, Mahershala Ali probably know this rule: he was gonna play a character in a movie that would ignore the previous ones, one of them being ICONIC - it is like playing Rambo without Rambo. Please understand, Blade I was such an success at the time that it dislodged Saving Private Ryan in the Box Office. Also, I believe that is what Ryan Reynolds is aiming: finish Snipes Blade history to make room for a new Blade without pressure from the past. Because Blade has a past, not like other MCU Heroes.

It wasnt until Deadpool & Wolverine people are pretending to care again. You might have always loved Blade (Im not taking that away from you) but other people threw him to the side. You mention RDJ and Chris Evens but the 3 most popular superheroes: Spiderman, Batman, and Superman have had multple new actors play them. Ali playing Blade was meant to usher in the MCU version of this charcter. The same way Tom Holland is the MCU version of Spiderman and not Tobey. We love Wesley Snipes, but he shouldnt have to be Blade, he had his chance, we still love him. Its time for someone else to get a chance now.

The Tobey Spiderman had full circle and Garfield was nowhere near iconic - because it got compared to Tobey one. They can introduce vampires in an NYC/ Spiderman scenario, where Morbius is reintroduced to MCU, OR..have a Dr. Strange movie allude to the notion of Dracula. Hopefully by then, a proper fleshed out Blade script is near completion with a great action writer/ director.
Theres definitely some hope to introduce him to the MCU through Dr. Strange, thats actually pretty smart. But Marvel also has an opportunity to make this feel more underground, its own world
They could literally have a blade variant. Wesley Snipes-Blade. Meets Mahershala-Blade. To help fight a big bad. The villian proves to be too much for them. When a younger blade variant or a son of one of the variants, comes from the time line, as the villian. To take him or her down. Have a epic fight scene, where both Snipes/Ali, are near death. And the son of Snipes-blade. Delivers the kill shot. Both blades, go back to their respective time lines. Theirs a mantle pass down. Between Snipes-blade and his son. He takes the shades. Puts them on. Some take of Camera pull out, fade to black. And the words "I am The Daywalker. I am everywhere. I am Blade"
The part where you said Wesley would have been okay with whatever garbage script and director for hire was set where he's a fourth stringer in his own movie getting pushed back....yeah nah I don't see that. That's exactly why Blade Trinity was so bad; Wesley was always going at it with the director and writers. He did not like the direction it went. On one hand it's a massive thing to have Wesley come into the MCU as Blade... but on the other hand, it could end up being like RDJ coming back in... maybe a little desperate. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to see Wesley do this and given a proper sendoff... Maybe a thing where the "Fox" Blade comes in and helps the "MCU" Blade avert a catastrophic event like the Blood War that was going on recently in Marvel. I just don't see this going smoothly and given the mishandling of the MCU Blade experiment, who the hell knows?
Yeah its like a never ending drama series at this point. Lowkey, the story of the production process might end up becoming more interesting than the actual film lol. If they bring in Wesley then it would def feel desperate, but at the same time the fans are asking for it so marvel would just be offering "fan service"

In fact, I heard a leaker say the real Doom is Viggo Mortenson and the plot is they've switched bodies like Ginyu/Goku or Travolta/Cage in Face Off, which if true, should be some interesting storytelling.

I think Mahershala got tired of waiting for a good script and got tired of waiting for the dust to settle regarding the director changes...dude's gotta eat and he's been waiting a long time for them to get their shit together. At this point, I'm pretty sure he's either already out or was planning to bail for other things (Jurassic movie series) anyways. As well, it's not like Snipes is pushing this effort. It's the fans...dude has a HUGE fan base. The executive staff for the movie didn't do any favors for Ali, either. I really don't think Snipes is the cause of pushing Ali out. I really think Ali is either quietly exiting out or will soon, because he can't wait forever for things to play out. I'm not gonna lie, though...I'd rather have Snipes reprise the role of Blade since we already know what we're gonna get with him playing Blade. Yeah, he's 62, but there's a lot of older actors in major roles in the MCU - Jackman isn't young at all and no one is pushing him out. RDJ isn't young either. Plus with the CGI nowadays, age isn't really an issue anymore (hell, Cavill did his last DCU movie with a damned mustache and they CGI'd it out of the picture). Age is less of an issue nowadays, IMO (and, as was said in this video, Ali isn't exactly young either).

The blade movie is still coming out. still set to appear in theaters, November 2025 marvel confirmed it! By Wesley showing up in Deadpool an Wolverine is letting us know he still got it. mahershala Ali knows he wouldn't pull it as good as Wesley an he admitted to it. If it wasn't for him it wouldn't be Marvel, he saved their ass! And they're treating him like a red headed stepchild!
LOL I saw. But the thing is... The last I heard from production the new draft of the script was only at 50%. Its going to take several months to film and we're already approaching the end of the year. With all of the shooting time and editing, if they started production today the film would be out by Summer or Winter 2026. Then the next problem becomes: is this film a stand alone or part of the MCU if so in 2026 Marvel will be focused on Marketing Avengers 5. What happens to Blade?

This is how it is. THERE IS ONLY ONE BLADE. NO DUPLICATES. The Original Blade with Wesley Snipes is the only movie that should be considered for remake. If Wesley Snipes happens to get tired or feel he is too old to continue the character then he can if he wants, make another movie with him handing the reins or the torch over to Mr. Ali. That’s where the Mike drops, Bam!!!

I think people are looking at Wesley Snipes' age in the wrong light and if you think about it, the first movie unintentionally set Blade's aging up in a good and natural way. Whistler tells Karen that even though he has most of the vampire's strengths, he ages like a normal human and that can definitely be used as a plot device. In some ways, it opens up different lanes for the story and script when you don't have to make a new origin story to introduce people to a completely new Blade. Also, having Wesley's Blade pick back up the mantle can open the story up to do really cool things juxtaposing an aging Blade with Whistler.

5:30 nah they weren't eaten Deadpool leaves the trash land at about an hour and half into the movie and alioth goes for the top of the antman and misses them bc they went thru the portal. Deadpool later talks to B-15 after changing his timeline (which she declines bc grandfather paradox) and asks to bring the people who helped them from the void to home which she says "I'll see what I can do". X-23 is with Logan because this is her world she's just from the future of this timeline since she is a child whenever Wolverine dies in the future. Their universes weren't pruned they themselves were.

The truth is, Wesley Snipes got done dirty on Blade 3, there were promises made to Wesley Snipes in order to get him back, once he agreed and signed on to do the movie they pulled the Okie doke .
He was told that he had script approval that he was going to be involved in every aspect of the movie, they changed things up on Wesley Snipes. They basically took control from him. Once he was signed on he was contractually obligated to do the movie, he regrets how he handled things but he was very disappointed and in how they basically took his movie and made it about the other guys instead of Blade.
He even said in an interview many years ago, isn't like taking over Rambo from Sylvester. Stallone it's just not gonna happen, Sylvester Stallone sets the tone for Rambo. Snipes was supposed to set the tone for how the character Blade would go and he got robbed. Hollywood put out a rumor, a lie saying that Snipes was difficult to work with to try to keep him from getting other roles, no other actor or studios ever had anything bad to say about working with W. S. In fact there were people like Sylvester Stallone who had only great things to say about working with him and called him right after he got out of prison to do the movie Expendables 3. In fact the part was written just for him. Eddie Murphy enjoyed working with him so much he offered him a part in Coming 2 America which was there second movie together. W. S is in great shape and if he wants it the fans definitely want it and we have wanted for a very long time. So let's get Westley Snipes back as the one and only BLADE.

He brought a style that only a black person could bring, and only he could bring that. Another great example of a film to watch is (Demolition Man) It's the style that he brings to life. we may get another Blade one day. But when we got a good we've got a good. They can easily reconcile Westley Snipes as blade and a younger actor, by using the element of time, or doing a story based far in the future as blade does not age like normal people, and if he's noticably older in the movie, its because he's probably 100 years old in cannon.

I don't want him back personally. I'm a massive Blade fans, Nightstalkers is one of my favourite comics ever made..
Wesley was legendary in the role but Blade the character was around 25 years before the movie and was awesome before and after it. He's been great in many comics, cartoons and games without Wesley.
Eventually, we gotta move on. Blade will be around after Wesley passes, and after you and I pass. There is gonna be another person to play that role, it's a timeless character with years of great stories from the comics to adapt. If you REALLY and truly love Blade, you want him to continue to be represented through the ages alongside his other brethren in the Marvel world.
Most of these fans are not truly fans of Blade, they want the reboot to fail so they can be correct. They don't want a new good Blade movie, they're obsessed with the past and have no interest in seeing a great character being brought to life.

I think most people are missing a point in the whole "new era cinema". There are some characters that you just can't "reboot" and ignore what came before. And Wesley Snipes Blade is one of them. Blade I is such an iconic movie that it can't be ignored - it was the first big hit Marvel had at cinema after a lot of failed trials - that is why: there is only ONE Blade.
RDJ Iron man and Chris Evans Captain America - none of them had any previous movie/iconic actor playing those character to be compared with. And look how bad both situations have developed in MCU: there is need for an Iron man and for a Captain, but how to do it without both actors? So, RDJ is coming back as "evil Tony Stark multiverse Doom" (and probably will fail) and they destroyed the Black Falcon in search of a new capt.
I believe that was the problem with the new Blade movie, Mahershala Ali probably know this rule: he was gonna play a character in a movie that would ignore the previous ones, one of them being ICONIC - it is like playing Rambo without Rambo.
Please understand, Blade I was such an success at the time that it dislodged Saving Private Ryan in the Box Office.
Also, I believe that is what Ryan Reynolds is aiming: finish Snipes Blade history to make room for a new Blade without pressure from the past. Because Blade has a past, not like other MCU Heroes.

When a younger blade variant or a son of one of the variants, comes from the time line, as the villian. To take him or her down. Have a epic fight scene, where both Snipes/Ali, are near death. And the son of Snipes-blade. Delivers the kill shot. Both blades, go back to their respective time lines. Theirs a mantle pass down. Between Snipes-blade and his son. He takes the shades. Puts them on. Some take of Camera pull out, fade to black. And the words "I am The Daywalker. I am everywhere. I am Blade"

On one hand it's a massive thing to have Wesley come into the MCU as Blade... but on the other hand, it could end up being like RDJ coming back in... maybe a little desperate. Maybe a thing where the "Fox" Blade comes in and helps the "MCU" Blade avert a catastrophic event like the Blood War that was going on recently in Marvel. I just don't see this going smoothly and given the mishandling of the MCU Blade experiment, who the hell knows?

In fact, I heard a leaker say the real Doom is Viggo Mortenson and the plot is they've switched bodies like Ginyu/Goku or Travolta/Cage in Face Off, which if true, should be some interesting storytelling.
I agree with Ryan make a Wesley Snipes Blade send off movie like they did with Logan. An old Blade on the brink of retirement with the movie ending with Blade saving a pregnant woman biting by a vampire. Or yeah they can go with a multiverse Blade being Mahershala Ali.
The send off would be a nice thing to do, but the thing is would anyone only want Snipes to return for one movie only?

I think Mahershala got tired of waiting for a good script and got tired of waiting for the dust to settle regarding the director changes...dude's gotta eat and he's been waiting a long time for them to get their shit together. At this point, I'm pretty sure he's either already out or was planning to bail for other things (Jurassic movie series) anyways.
As well, it's not like Snipes is pushing this effort. It's the fans...dude has a HUGE fan base. The executive staff for the movie didn't do any favors for Ali, either. I really don't think Snipes is the cause of pushing Ali out. I really think Ali is either quietly exiting out or will soon, because he can't wait forever for things to play out.
I'm not gonna lie, though...I'd rather have Snipes reprise the role of Blade since we already know what we're gonna get with him playing Blade. Yeah, he's 62, but there's a lot of older actors in major roles in the MCU - Jackman isn't young at all and no one is pushing him out. RDJ isn't young either. Plus with the CGI nowadays, age isn't really an issue anymore (hell, Cavill did his last DCU movie with a damned mustache and they CGI'd it out of the picture). Age is less of an issue nowadays, IMO (and, as was said in this video, Ali isn't exactly young either).
Spot on analysis on Ali leaving quietly... Id like to add I think he'd be more likely to leave now because of how embarrassing all of this stuff is too. People wanting you out, it wouldn't feel good when you're trying to give your best performance.

The blade movie is still coming out. still set to appear in theaters, November 2025 marvel confirmed it! By Wesley showing up in Deadpool an Wolverine is letting us know he still got it. mahershala Ali knows he wouldn't pull it as good as Wesley an he admitted to it. If it wasn't for him it wouldn't be Marvel, he saved their ass! And they're treating him like a red headed stepchild!
LOL I saw. But the thing is... The last I heard from production the new draft of the script was only at 50%. Its going to take several months to film and we're already approaching the end of the year.
With all of the shooting time and editing, if they started production today the film would be out by Summer or Winter 2026.
Then the next problem becomes: is this film a stand alone or part of the MCU if so in 2026 Marvel will be focused on Marketing Avengers 5. What happens to Blade?

Bring back the original costume design from the first Blade movie man. It's like they don't want him to look good. It pissed me off so bad. This is how it is. THERE IS ONLY ONE BLADE. NO DUPLICATES. The Original Blade with Wesley Snipes is the only movie that should be considered for remake. If Wesley Snipes happens to get tired or feel he is too old to continue the character then he can if he wants, make another movie with him handing the reins or the torch over to Mr. Ali. That’s where the Mike drops, Bam!!!
It doesnt have to be the same universe, I dont even think there needs to be a passing of the torch... We first just need a good script, then, all together, need a good Blade film

Mahershala Ali is an amazing actor he did great as cottonmouth and I’d like him as Blade but it’s literally not going anywhere so I’d love to see Wesley come back if possible for the time being

I think people are looking at Wesley Snipes' age in the wrong light and if you think about it, the first movie unintentionally set Blade's aging up in a good and natural way. Whistler tells Karen that even though he has most of the vampire's strengths, he ages like a normal human and that can definitely be used as a plot device. In some ways, it opens up different lanes for the story and script when you don't have to make a new origin story to introduce people to a completely new Blade. Also, having Wesley's Blade pick back up the mantle can open the story up to do really cool things juxtaposing an aging Blade with Whistler.
Like you said... as long as they can make it a good story... Im down

5:30 nah they weren't eaten Deadpool leaves the trash land at about an hour and half into the movie and alioth goes for the top of the antman and misses them bc they went thru the portal. Deadpool later talks to B-15 after changing his timeline (which she declines bc grandfather paradox) and asks to bring the people who helped them from the void to home which she says "I'll see what I can do". X-23 is with Logan because this is her world she's just from the future of this timeline since she is a child whenever Wolverine dies in the future. Their universes weren't pruned they themselves were.
