So much going on here. 1st, your love of animals gets in my feels. I love that about you. 2nd. German Shepherds are my favorite breed. Yours has what I call the "suitcase " stage. Tall slim like a suitcase. 3rd. Weapons, another passion and hey, who doesnt like food? Keep em coming Donut.
Absolutely, great advice. Especially with bigger breeds. Butcher will fill out when he gets his adult muscle mass and his joints will be developed by then to deal with the extra weight. Don’t be beefing up little pups too soon.
@@FantasticCraptacular our harley Is a German shepherd/cane corso and Rottweiler she's a year old now and is slowly filling out correctly lol. The awkward stage of "weird slender but long" takes a bit to go away.
Looks to me that butcher is actually the perfect weight right now. The waist is supposed to be well defined. As long as you can't feel his spine or hip bones he's a good weight. (of course, always check with a vet) He will be pretty lanky until he's 2 - 3 years old once he's done growing, especially for an oversized GSD like him
Commenting so this gets seen. The protein will keep him lean: we had rescue greyhounds and we had to put them on a raw diet (chicken frames, organ meat, rawhide, carrots and kumera) for their digestion issues. They were a "healthy" weight when we first got them, but had incontinence and poor digestion. Took them off the kibble and worked with a vet to get their diet dialed in. They got real skinny at first, and then real muscular. Their digestion and incontinence disappeared. Always stated slim-waisted though so dogs like them are likely naturally slim. Butcher is the same I'd wager.
Agreed. I've been around a lot of bigger breed dogs and they typically stay skinny while they're puppies. Even if you over feed them they don't seem to put on weight when they're young and will likely just poop more.
I have used that same entry tool before. The door Jim. I worked in hotels for a while the secret is once you have the handle locked in you have to pull both the wire and the body of the Jim simultaneously like you are starting a chain saw with both hands, while keeping constant pressure on the door with your shoulder. you do it right once, it's a cake walk, super easy. Just gotta get the feel.
I breed standard poodles, they run thin like butcher. He's still young.... he will fill out but if you are looking for a good kibble, try an active blend like Acana sport and agility. Its higher in proteins and beneficial fats. You can also add some fish oils to his food. Both German shepherds and standard poodles are working/ hunting breeds and are prone to hip issues. Too much wait too quickly can aggravate early onset if pup is prone to it. Butcher looks healthy and happy, I wouldn't worry too much on his current body composition...he's doing great! Cheers from 🇨🇦

I have modified the hinge pins on my doors so you can't easily remove them with the door closed and even with the door open, you still need to remove a couple of set screws.
The company that makes the hinge pin tool also makes center punches and nail finish drivers... The centerpunches would probably be good for breaking windows too
Sardines in oil, couple of times a week. Excellent protein, good for joint health and coat. My dog is 18 years old, 74lbs of muscle and has only recently started with arthritis. Shes outlive a couple of her Grandpups
Man, I was looking at one of those flamethrowers at Ace Hardware. They only had black ones, that red one looks sweet! I am really thinking about getting one.
German Shepherds go through MANY awkward phases, one day they are too tall, the next they are too long, then you wonder if they will ever grow into their ears. do not stretch his stomach though, once the metabolism slows and he starts to get fat, it is hard to cut back on food as they are always hungry. just use a grain free high protein food that you can feed less of
A Mexican restaurant near me serves a Mexican burger, which is a 1/2 lbs burger with guacamole and sour cream an jalapeno, then wrapped in a burrito, and seared
Feed butcher raw meat and pumpkin for a bit he’ll thicken up then you can stop the pumpkin and feed raw when you get him to the weight you want if you choose or go back to regular food. My German shepherds did amazing on raw diet and were healthier than ever. Unfortunately we decided to stop raw feeding for a while it gets expensive and takes a lot of prepping plus it’d be a bit hard right now with the whole virus thing.
