We accept everyone and we speak German French Luxembourgish and English some speak other languages like their mother language, so you’re not judged for speaking your language with others in stores and around the cities. There have been three Partitions of Luxembourg between 1659 and 1839. Together, the three partitions reduced the territory of Luxembourg from 10,700 km2 (4,100 sq mi) to the present-day area of 2,586 km2 (998 sq mi) over a period of 240 years
Luxembourg lost and regained independence several times, to be established as it is now in 1839
Luxembourg is the home of Schengen and European Court
Luxembourg - next to Switzerland - has strict banking privacy rules, no bank data can be stored outside the country
Duke of Luxembourg - John the Blind was also the King of Bohemia and Poland in the IV Century
Royal family of Belgium are cousins of the Luxembourg royals
Belgium wanted to sell Luxembourg it's former territories in the middle of XX century but the offer was against Constitution of Belgium and the deal had to be cancelled
All the former lands are called "Luxembourg Grand Area" and people living there are privileged, there is excellent communication and 2/3 of daily work commuters come from the Grand Area
Luxembourg is one of the most stable economy and politics in the world
Luxembourg City is the capital of the Luxembourg canton of the Luxembourg country
Luxembourg has 3 districts divided to 12 cantons
The national motto goes: "Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sinn" (Luxembourgish)

In 1839 it gained independence as a "state" it was still ruled by king william I (partly) because they agreed that the french speaking part was going to belgium. In 1867 they reconfirmed the independence because of the luxembourg crisis in 1866. King william I wanted to sell luxembourg to the french , but the prussians didn't like that idea and this discussian became the franco-prussian war from 1870 till 1871. It was untill 1890 that luxemburg was a independence state , wilhelmina took the throne in 1890 but not for long cause they didn't like a woman on the throne . So adolf the last duke of the Nassau's became the grand duke of luxemburg and was now known as adolf of luxemburg and luxemburg was no longer ruled by the dutch.

Portuguese is the biggest immigrant nationalty living in Luxembourg (immigrated from Portugal or already born in Luxembourg by portuguese immigrants, all mixed)
Luxembourg has a population of around ~600.000 and *OVER 100.000* of them are of portuguese ethnicity!
Since the country is so small, you see portuguese speaking people everywhere (little kids, teenagers, adults, elderly... all ages!)
Every person who has portuguese roots speaks portuguese with each other!
That's a good way to never forget their mother language and where they actually come from... ✌

I am glad I left Luxembourg. It’s a great little county but quite boring compared to what other countries and cities have to offer. Most citizens can’t afford a decent life or house in their own country anymore. So yes the banks and large companies help the economy but they also ruined the country.
My thoughts exactly. It's extremely difficult to buy a house because of the cost and, no matter how much money you earn, it's never enough to afford one - especially since half your paycheck goes to taxes. The whole country smells like a cow's toilet and it's so, so boring. The best part about Lux is its proximity to Germany.

The average annual salary in Luxembourg is the highest in the world, Switzerland is second. You can find the statistics if you do some researches :)@@antonianita2405

Hello on 1:45 you said smaller states than Luxembourg are: Vatican, Monaco, San marino, Lichtenstein, Malta, Andora and Georgia. Why did you mention Georgia if it is not in that list, its 69700 square kilometers and LUX is just 2500 square kilometers.
