The boat chase was fantastic. I think the mistake at the end was activating the supercar rule. It never seems to work and they probably suspected you would try it. They might have also seen the abandoned car from when you stole it. Would have been better to stay incognito in a slower car
I think he should have a fully upgraded supercar as an active personal vehicle, and just call that in when he breaks the supercar rule, the speed difference to the hunters cars isn't enough to make the risk worth it when he just pulls a supercar off the street. Hunters should only be able to use stock supercars in the spawn-set, that way Alex can make use of a significant speed advantage.

Before the supercar rule existed, Alex could just get in a supercar and blast away from even the fastest cars the hunters were allowed to use. (Since before, even if he got in a supercar, they weren't allowed one.) If he's allowed to use a fully upgraded supercar and they're stuck with stock, then it's the same exact problem as he blasts away into the distance from the base supercars.
@@Karthos1000 Those old rules were far more broken in alex's favour than the rules being suggested here with alex allowed to have an upgraded supercar. An upgraded comet isnt THAT much faster than a stock one, the speed difference isnt as much as a comet vs a gauntlet.
It would have been better to stay incognito in a slower car, but Alex always calls the spawn-set crap because all the Cavalcade, Seminole, Asea, Asterope, Tornado, etc. Astorope, Asea, Emperor, Tornado and Manana are complete crap for STH, but Oracle, Ruiner, and Sultan (didn't used the Sultan this time) are often used.

I wonder if the best course of action after blowing up the blimp would've been to immediately bail onto land and try and get to a car. The blimp's let everyone know that you're boating, but has no new info since being taken out, so everyone's going to be flocking to boats. It's so difficult to hide in open water, once they know you're there.
depends. if they were using the whole map i think he could have escaped because they wouldn't know which direction he would have turned. but because he's is limited to the southern half of the map he's only able to turn right there. (left would have lead nowhere and to the edge of playable area).
@@takumi2023 The best play would have been to stay on the boat and keep trying rocket pot shots at everyone or assualt rifle if they got close, until he killed all of them. then go into the storm drain thing and ditch the boat.

Curious question, I believe it had been mentioned by @Failrace, way earlier but what is the ruling on proximities? I feel as if there were some moments that use of proximities might have helped Failrace, if he had access to them.
@@Joze1090 He covers the basic/general rules of survive the hunt at the start, there are perhaps more rules that they have which may be unnecessary for the audience to know, but if I recall correctly when I watched this Hunt (8 months ago) there were moments that I thought a proximity would have been helpful. Which is why I posted the question as I don't know the ruling of proximities and they may be one of the unnecessary rules for the audience to know or less likely to be used/brought up. Has it been brought up recently? I have not watched the last 6 (months) survive the hunts recently so don't know if a ruling has been discussed as to my question on the use of proximities. If anyone does know the answer to my question of the ruling of using proximities, please share.
It's so frustrating how Alex just doesn't know when he's done enough and should take the win. He is always trying to win harder! Edit: I'm talking about pink Priis. Just to avoid misunderstandings.
@@Rocker-1234 he should play more boldly and try new things if he wants an exciting note, like using trucks, planes, helicpter, etc. Add more variety and make more bold plays
47:35 is where you messed up. You were getting greedy over something that didn't matter and the red car saw you. They probably called you in right then which is why the supercar showed up so quickly and the blimp was on you immediately. With the escape rule you really need to stop thinking about the full 24 hours as open for going after targets and set at least the last hour as set up for escape. That's not to say go stand by a plane, but at least make your escape decision and then move stealthily towards it. If you end up in a chase while trying to escape you're more often than not going to be killed.
That was the most unsatisfactory end to such a great hunt. I was willing you to abandon the aircraft idea and grab another boat... Gliscor definitely deserves a celebratory drink for that one.
This was a good one again! Love the escape idea aswell. My advice, spend some time in a private session alone and check all the police stations and hospitals because on those roofs also helicopters spawn. Challenge part in this, they don't spawn always. Makes it less obvious where you will leave.
When I first started GTAO I memorized the helicopter spawns by using a reference map for a little while, police stations are more hit or miss, hospitals almost always had a helicopter spawn, and airfields will always spawn them.
When he mentioned they would likely cover the dock/helipad area and the airport, the first thing I thought of was the helipad on top of the hospital, which I don't think @Failrace had thought of. That and before the battle of the boats there looked to be a water area he could have gone down, instead of turning the speed boat around, but I am not sure.

I think the blimp was already on his tail so he was both trying to reach the airport and lose the blimp but it might have only caught him when he was heading towards the airport in the first place. 2. Nah, straight ahead just leads to a dead end, it's just one long dock with one exit/entrance.
I really like the adaption of the original STH with pri's where you have to actually escape once you're out of time, it removes that artificial sort of rule that can feel unsatisfying at times when you're in the middle of a heated chase. I expect it will also result in more variability at the end of the video. I support you having full access to Lester as well, he already has built-in cooldowns that can prevent you from never having cop trouble and otherwise you're just constantly running away from somebody and it makes the exciting chases lose some of their impact.
Watching these over the last year or 2 motivated me to change how I play the game, starting with turning off the minimap. Having to learn my way around the city by landmarks and street signs was a lot of fun. Now I always play first person only, no minimap, no hud, no crosshairsor aim assist, and it makes the game so much better. Like not knowing your wanted level, or if the cops know where you are or are just searching. And now I play that way in any game I can, like rdr2 and skyrim. Thanks for the great vids and inspiration.
Wow. Another STH to add to the "best of" list. It's always fantastic when a chase takes us somewhere it hasn't, and the boat chase was a great unexpected twist. Even the (finally successful) Survive the Swim was worth it when you popped out for those unexpected pot shots.
After literally years of doing this, why does he keep doubling back on himself in chases??? It gets him caught by cars literally every time! If you're ahead of the cars but the blimp is still on you, increase the gap and use bridges or buildings, don't turn around and head right into the pack of hunter cars!!! Aaaah, I actually yelled at my screen there!
Love the new rule-set. Great amount of challenge, and can give a nice closure to the chase. Not just, "Nope, time is up", but actually needing to get away succesfully. Feels organic and gives a sense of closure to the narrative of the video. Love it! Please more of this!
I'll never understand why Alex just sits there as they run into him when it's _very_ clear by that point that they know it's him. There were multiple opportunities to go but he just sat there. Maybe if he spent less time trying to do water battles and routes, he would've had more time. Could've taken the blimp down around Grove Street as well.
I've seen many, many times where they give up thinking he's AI after ramming him for a while, and if they get out, he usually gets an easy kill and one less hunter. Don't panic and run until you absolutely must

I think you absolutely nailed it with the statement, a supercar chase only works if you can get away quickly, the moment you let them all climb in supercars, it's over. So your fate was sealed when you spent 2 minutes going after that last Prius.
Stumbled across Failrace by pure chance a few years ago… absolutely fell in love with STH, watched every single one and now look forward to the 1st every month. Every single episode is similar in some aspects, but also entirely unique. Keep up the great work!
One day you should start a run and immediately get in a supercar and purposefully trigger the rule early. Then swap to something regular, but tune it up to be a super car equivalent. This may lead to the hunters ignoring all non-supercars giving you more opportunity to be overlooked.
This was a surprisingly action-packed STH! Exciting from the buggy traffic at the start, to the action movie chase at the end! Can't wait to see the discussion episode on this one

Win or lose, this was an excellent StH episode! I'm always rooting for Alex in those, of course, but I do think that those where Alex is "defeated" are at least as important to the series, which would otherwise almost seem made up of staged events (even though it obviously isn't). This episode was so action-packed and so varied. I loved the boat battles, I loved the "oh, we're going back in the water then" bit, and I loved the final high-speed chase, too! One of the best episodes, definitely!
As usual, love seeing this every month and can't wait for the Discussion. But: Every time he's in a chase like that at the end I'm pissed off. He pretends to be an AI after they've clearly decided that even if it's not him they're going to kill the AI. He could've left so much earlier but gives the blimp and all of them time to figure out he's in a supercar. Then he acts surprised they have the cars so quickly. They probably started collecting them when you got bumped a dozen times and tried to play it off.
that was such an intense STH, absolutely enjoyed it! boats was a change of tune from the usual too. such a waste Alex didn’t manage to get away though, else it would have been basically a perfect STH.
A good option for taking out the blimp is to use the heavy sniper rifle with explosive bullets modification (done via the mobile operations centre gun workshop). Takes like 3 bullets, way easier to do than a rocket from a greater distance.
nice episode but Fail could pay more attention to his surroundings like he needs to go to the alleyways more like back in the city and grove street area he could use the absolutely confusing alleyways to his advantage and also he could use buildings like the police station to his advantage because he can hide in there
I was watching one of your older videos and wanted to let you know a trick for the mod shop. Before entering spam your weapon selection right before going in and press right on the d pad and it skips the cutscene. Makes it faster to repair vehicles and get out of there.
So I know this game is nearly 10 years old. There's really nothing in this game I haven't seen...then FailRace happens. I love Survive The Hunt. I love the human part of it. Honestly, I look forward to these videos!

I really think you should institute a rule that says that until the super car rule is broken, they cannot upgrade other cars so high they are essentially super cars themselves. Seems wrong that they are driving around in Oracles that are so tricked out and fully upgrade they can out run a stock Comet. That red car that initially found you was, in my opinion, way to upgraded and they had to have upgraded before the super car rule was in effect.
If I could pick a format to do it in, this would be the one. I've occasionally suggested in previous StHs that Alex should have to get away from any chases he's in at the 24 hour mark for it to count. Now he kinda has to do that and/or execute a very dangerous escape. I'm not as big a fan of the boat thing as everyone else, because it's difficult to stop a boat, not like a car, and you can't climb out of a boat and shoot someone, since presumably, you can't walk on water. So Alex is virtually invincible in a boat, so long as he keeps moving.
I enjoyed that. I would say it was the best one for a while. The epic car chases were always my favourite bit and they don't seem to happen quite as often these days. I understand why you banned the choppers but I always think they used to produce great chases and it was always really rewarding to see you escape them. It made it even more rewarding to watch you win as it didn't happen that often and I liked that it was a hard challenge to beat. I bet in terms of wins it's probably pretty even nowadays (I'm sure somebody will probably have the stats to prove me entirely wrong)
With the supercar rule, he'd never escape the heli. The only reason those worked was he could be in a much faster car than the hunters. As much as it is fairer for the hunters, the supercar rule does mean fewer, and much more fatal chases. It's one driver against 10+ and an aerial spotter with equal cars.
I never knew how much I wanted to see a train escape until you mentioned it here 😂 you should absolutely try and go for it if you ever have the opportunity! The hunters would never see it coming!!

There should be a point system to this so people can enjoy a challenge of rotating who's in the Survivor seat at times. 5 points for taking out target. 1 point for taking out one of your hunters. Survive the whole 24 hours, 10 or 15 points. Maybe add an escape bonus for after the 24 hours, where you need to escape in a certain way, like boats or planes? That would make for quite an interesting new way to take the "Survive the hunt" Setup.
I don't think it counts as an ending, it clearly was a glitched character moment out of control and they didn't know about it the game engine didn't respond as quickly as it needed to, so i say you should've reset that bit and try again continuing the chase in other supercars same for the hunters if needed.
Yeah I was wondering why the car wouldn't turn over or why he couldn't exit the car, like his character was frozen. I've never seen this happen in years of playing.
I fucking love “Survive the hunt” I have watched them all, some more than once. I hope this never ends and that so many more feel the same. I long for these videos. Gone in 48 comes in second place.
I rewatched the STH with Alex shooting out of the back of a truck being driven by an accomplice. Man, that was an action-packed end to a chase that’s for sure! I also enjoy the ones which involved the north part of the map but I believe it was thought too boring by some folks. Oh well!

One I'd like to see: 10 priis, no time limit, you have to blow up 8 of the 10 and escape to the north to one of three "safe zones" designated on the map.

This episode was so action-packed and so varied. I loved the boat battles, I loved the "oh, we're going back in the water then" bit, and I loved the final high-speed chase, too! One of the best episodes, definitely!

This was a really nice one, great new tactics. Can't wait for the analysis, they had a pretty good idea what Alex was up to.

But:
Every time he's in a chase like that at the end I'm pissed off. He pretends to be an AI after they've clearly decided that even if it's not him they're going to kill the AI. He could've left so much earlier but gives the blimp and all of them time to figure out he's in a supercar.
Then he acts surprised they have the cars so quickly. They probably started collecting them when you got bumped a dozen times and tried to play it off.
After this, I want a survive the hunt with only boats. Brazen and his sailing boat was the highlight of the whole thing lmao.

that was such an intense STH, absolutely enjoyed it! boats was a change of tune from the usual too. such a waste Alex didn’t manage to get away though, else it would have been basically a perfect STH.
Pure joy is when you forget it's the 1st of the month and get greeted with this.
This is definitely up there as one of the best STHs so far
A good option for taking out the blimp is to use the heavy sniper rifle with explosive bullets modification (done via the mobile operations centre gun workshop). Takes like 3 bullets, way easier to do than a rocket from a greater distance.
After all the mentioning of trains as an escape method at the start of the video I'm surprised it wasn't given consideration towards the end

nice episode but Fail could pay more attention to his surroundings like he needs to go to the alleyways more like back in the city and grove street area he could use the absolutely confusing alleyways to his advantage and also he could use buildings like the police station to his advantage because he can hide in there

I was watching one of your older videos and wanted to let you know a trick for the mod shop. Before entering spam your weapon selection right before going in and press right on the d pad and it skips the cutscene. Makes it faster to repair vehicles and get out of there.
My wife and I watch these every month. She's not interested in GTA or racing games at all. But she looooves Survive the Hunt.

I really think you should institute a rule that says that until the super car rule is broken, they cannot upgrade other cars so high they are essentially super cars themselves. Seems wrong that they are driving around in Oracles that are so tricked out and fully upgrade they can out run a stock Comet. That red car that initially found you was, in my opinion, way to upgraded and they had to have upgraded before the super car rule was in effect.

If I could pick a format to do it in, this would be the one. I've occasionally suggested in previous StHs that Alex should have to get away from any chases he's in at the 24 hour mark for it to count. Now he kinda has to do that and/or execute a very dangerous escape.
I'm not as big a fan of the boat thing as everyone else, because it's difficult to stop a boat, not like a car, and you can't climb out of a boat and shoot someone, since presumably, you can't walk on water. So Alex is virtually invincible in a boat, so long as he keeps moving.
STH is the content I click on the fastest I can. Best entertainment for me. Keep doing that. 👍

I enjoyed that. I would say it was the best one for a while. The epic car chases were always my favourite bit and they don't seem to happen quite as often these days. I understand why you banned the choppers but I always think they used to produce great chases and it was always really rewarding to see you escape them. It made it even more rewarding to watch you win as it didn't happen that often and I liked that it was a hard challenge to beat. I bet in terms of wins it's probably pretty even nowadays (I'm sure somebody will probably have the stats to prove me entirely wrong)
With the supercar rule, he'd never escape the heli. The only reason those worked was he could be in a much faster car than the hunters. As much as it is fairer for the hunters, the supercar rule does mean fewer, and much more fatal chases. It's one driver against 10+ and an aerial spotter with equal cars.
I never knew how much I wanted to see a train escape until you mentioned it here 😂 you should absolutely try and go for it if you ever have the opportunity! The hunters would never see it coming!!

There should be a point system to this so people can enjoy a challenge of rotating who's in the Survivor seat at times.
5 points for taking out target.
1 point for taking out one of your hunters.
Survive the whole 24 hours, 10 or 15 points.
Maybe add an escape bonus for after the 24 hours, where you need to escape in a certain way, like boats or planes?
That would make for quite an interesting new way to take the "Survive the hunt" Setup.
I don't think it counts as an ending, it clearly was a glitched character moment out of control and they didn't know about it the game engine didn't respond as quickly as it needed to, so i say you should've reset that bit and try again continuing the chase in other supercars same for the hunters if needed.
Yeah I was wondering why the car wouldn't turn over or why he couldn't exit the car, like his character was frozen. I've never seen this happen in years of playing.
I fucking love “Survive the hunt” I have watched them all, some more than once. I hope this never ends and that so many more feel the same. I long for these videos. Gone in 48 comes in second place.

I rewatched the STH with Alex shooting out of the back of a truck being driven by an accomplice. Man, that was an action-packed end to a chase that’s for sure!
I also enjoy the ones which involved the north part of the map but I believe it was thought too boring by some folks. Oh well!

@@kevinagnew1519 Yea but not when driving in a straight line and when doing normal cornering.. AI has some jank movements but he's over the top, same with braking you can always see his brake lights tap on and off and then the reverse lights lol
