First Vacation in Jackson Mississippi

- Thanks to @JacksonCVB for inviting us out to explore Jackson, Mississippi. We will be exploring the museums and restaurants. There are so many great places to eat and the kids had a blast. Come join us and plan your trip to Jackson.
I grew up in Jackson and have lived on and off there for almost 40 years. Your video represents a positive image of Jackson. Thank you for that. Also, you have given me some ideas of places to go that I was not aware of. Some the places will be really enjoyable with my kids. You should send your video to the Mayor of Jackson to use in promoting Jackson in a more positive image and a great vacation place to take families. Thank you again!!

Y’all are in my hometown!! People always share the negatives of Jackson, so thank y’all for sharing the positive side of what Jackson has to offer! Big Apple Inn has the best little sandwiches in town. It’s right up the street from Brent’s if y’all ever decide to visit again. Thank y’all again for shining light on little ole us 💗

Omg!!! I wish my family had the chance to meet you guys at those places. My kids and I are huge fans!!! We live in a town outside of Jackson and I Really Appreciate you shining an Amazing light on the city!! Young people have moved away and have come back to improve various areas. The food has Always been Amazing!!! The music in MS is like no other!!! Lastly, so many Incredible stars were born and raised here!!! I’m proud to be from this place and you and so many others remind me of how great this place really is and how much better it can be. We’ve really come a Long way. May God continue to bless you and yours & safe travels!!

I just wanna say Visit Jackson is Awesome!! I’ve been to the downtown location during the annual Christmas event last year and what a cool place. I enjoyed the evening/night time scavenger hunt type vibe across the downtown areas with music all over, fun for the whole entire family, the scenes were great, and the FOOD OMG!! It’s truly an amazing thing to have in our capital city and I was grateful to experience it. I can’t wait to return this year!! 😀😀😀

I dont watch these 'family channels", thats just not my thing....BUT.....I started watching this becasue I lived in Jacktown. What a nice family. Your children are very well behaved and seem eager to learn. My mother would of had to beat me DAILY during a trip like this. I M now a subscriber and going to look and see if you guys have been to PENSACOLA, home of the blue angels and beautiful beaches!!!

Oh WOW..Jackson, Ms. looks like a lot of fun. Glad everyone had such a nice time. Curtis really wanted to play and climb in the digestive system.🤣🤣 I actually use to live there when I was 9 and 10 years old. Obviously it has changed over the years. A lot to do there. FOOD is ALWAYS my favourite, and y'all certainly ate well. Thanks for sharing all that delicious food. YUM!! 😋 Cool reference to the movie The Help. Great museums wow!!
When we visited Jackson, we had breakfast to go at Fred's Soul Food restaurant, a hole in a wall place but the breakfast was fabulous! Especially the salmon croquettes 😋. If you all still there, check them out.

Our former neighbor returned to his birthplace of Jackson (at retirement from an excellent UAW career). Looks like a super fun family vacay. You covered activities I enjoy during travels:

I was born in Jackson MS and lived there until I was about 8, but spent every summer there til I was about 15. A lot of my family is still there. I haven't visited since 2017. Enjoyed this vlog.
I grew up 40 miles west of Jackson in the city of Vicksburg! I lived in Jackson for a couple of years also!
I have neve been to Mississippi before thanks for taken us along. I love museum also might try and go there one day.

Hi CC! ( Curly Coopers). I'm English & I've been following u guys 4 a few yrs now, njoying ur vlogs. I went to Memphis back in the early 90's for a Church Convocation. (C.O.G.I.C.) In November. ( boy was it hot). I would've loved to travel to Jackson. It looks nice & the food portions r humongous! Just the lunch alone wud serve me 4 the day! ( I'm small 5ft 2in) 😄
The museums r very interesting. Especially the Civil Rights one & I'd luv 2

I grew up C.O.G.I.C. and used to live in Jackson. If you ever get down to Jackson you gotta try green ghost tacos and Aladdin.
@@stephaniehereford4299 Thx Steph. When Mattie Moss & The Clark Sisters, came to England in 1980's the English C.O.G.I.C Choir sang with them on a few occasions. Being British, I've never tasted Taco's. Drove up to a Taco Bell in London Ontario, Canada, but never went in. 🤣. Are Tacos the same as Nachos? 🤷🏾♀️

You guys have been some traveling folks this last spring and summer. Good for you all. You look pretty relaxed- so that’s good. I have always enjoyed taking my kids to various kinds of museums- natural history, science, art, and children’s, etc. I enjoy it even now. So nice to see you guys having a blast!

This was an Awesome experience to see That Beautiful town! My girlfriend parents are from Jackson Mississippi. And the food, oh my goodness gracious. Thank you for sharing part of the meals Some people when they go on vacation they don't even show their meals but this is so wonderful that you do that and that's the biggest part of the trip :) in my opinion everything else was awesome awesome. Hey fam!!! Try the BBQ as well, if you come to Louisiana always get seafood. Most likely if the building doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing… that means the food is really good. Idk why but that’s how it usually is in the south

I'm from Laurel(hometown-HGTV)About an hour and half from Jackson. People don't really go to Jackson unless we have to. With that being said I'm glad y'all had fun. Almost forgot to add it is home to one of the best HBCUs and the band(Sonic Boom of the south)
Great Vid… About Bret’s Drug Store… what they didn’t tell you when you guys walked to the back was that the back of the restaurant was also the entrance and gathering place for African Americans during the height of segregation! I feel the presence of our Ancestors every time I walk back there …. It was also the site of sit ins etc…. Lots of history here thanks for visiting JXN 😊.

Wished I had watched your video before I went to MS recently for a funeral. We did'ent know what to do! Or where to go! My family is from there. It's bittet sweet everytime I visit; alot of rocks of the family have passed on. My family that still live there are not close anymore since the elders have passed on..The remaining family don't get together to do anything... seems like their at odds w/ each other... Just sad! When I was there eariler this year my boyfriend & I mostly stayed in our hotel. On a positive note...if & when I return...I.will try these places! Thanks for sharing!

Stayed and got ice-cream and pizza in Eastover, ate at Roosters in the Foudren District, City of Soul, Civil Rights Musuem, Iron Horse Grill is located Downtown. Needed more feed back about the Civil Rights Musuem, especially from a blended family.
Nice food vlog. I only wish that Duana had given a brief summary about the Civil Rights Museum as she did about the museum with Lance and Justin Timberlake. It is important that people know African American history when the family visits those sites as well.

That food at the rooster look great....that agricultural place looked like a plantation and those tools look like thinks they used on the slaves... scary looking place...I have always heard bad things about Mississippi...never been never want to go...but I enjoyed your videos..
Be careful, All the Food in Mississippi is Delicious, you will end up gaining too much weight! The History of Miss is very Interesting and Shocking!
