    You made some really stellar content with it, very impressive indeed. I did have a look at those 3Dio mics a while back, amazing as it is, perhaps one day when I have extra money lying around. • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor  7 років тому +1

      It totally does and it's so bizarre to see but totally justified when you hear the effect. I love it. I can only imagine what the other ones (with four ears) must sound like!

    • @jackeggen7779
      @jackeggen7779 7 років тому

      Ash Tailor yeah that would he so crazy, good idea by the way. I guess the next step is head tracking, so when you turn your head, the audio stays in he same place i.e. behind you, so when you look in that direction it's now in front of you ( if that makes sense ). Incredible work as normal, you never fail to delight!

    This was impressive Ash and great timing, I'm rigging a crane and a 3dio hoping to test binaural sound this week (UK weather permitting!!). It's raising the unit up to camera height which is causing a prob but I'll grab some additional spigots like you did. I don't have the XLR on my version - need a 3.5 converter into a Roland R26 so hoping the quality will be alright. Anyway, brilliant work mate.

    • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor  7 років тому

      +Andy Andy! How cool, you're doing the same thing! I tell you, if the crane didn't have that mounting point on the bottom., I wouldn't have been able to make any of this work. Goes to so how important the small details are. Whereabouts in the UK are you? Good luck, please do let me know how it goes!
      The quality should be good. What are you hoping to film?

    • @andyuxd
      @andyuxd 7 років тому

      Well I wouldn't say the same thing - definitely not on that level of complexity to shoot and probably not scripted. I've got the 3dio on hire for a week so just looking at what's possible at this stage before taking it further. I've used Logic's feature for years to create space in the mix (but never created 'true' binaural sound). This is new territory to a large extent. I'm based in Chester so plenty of great locations around for tests. I've now rigged it using a lighting clamp with 1/4 screw, so it's easier to mount nearer to camera height - this also frees up the bottom mounting point. Useful because I have an arca swiss plate there, with a small manfrotto desktop tripod so I can place it down standing up and catch my breath!

    • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor  7 років тому

      Ah nice, that is a good plan indeed! Be sure to let me know how it goes! Really curious to know how it turns out. Binaural audio is just amazing.

    Cool small setup ... although I will comment on the format of this video: dark and low contrast videos don't work well with glossy computer monitors in daylight situations!

    • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor  7 років тому

      +Photoandcargeek Guess not but it's all coloured on calibrated monitors 😳 I'll do something different next time :)

    • @Photoandcargeek
      @Photoandcargeek 7 років тому

      Ash Tailor oh no doubt the colours are great. My laptop is calibrated too but has a glossy screen which makes your video hard to see properly, my desktop for editing is calibrated with awesome Dell matte screens in a darkish room and with these screens your video wouldn't have been a problem at all.... the problem is that most laptop manufacturers only use wide gamut colour accurate screens on their 4K glossy screens which are often also touch and, I would buy a wide gamut FHD matte screen over these any day!

    • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor  7 років тому

      I feel your frustration buddy. You'd expect them to realise that if you're doing colour (and exposure) sensitive work, you'd provide a screen surface that would help rather than hinder! What laptop are you using? :)

    • @Photoandcargeek
      @Photoandcargeek 7 років тому

      I use 2 but I prefer the Dell XPS 15 in 4K. I also sometimes use the Asus UX501VW in 4K (which is excellent too but much harder to calibrate, when calibrated it is fine). I do photography, not video, I can't and hate editing videos :p but I admire those who can.
