It has been a LONG time since a short film has really given me an EXPERIENCE. I have seen a lot of crispy well put together videos but this film actually had me feeling real emotions. Started off with joy and peace and once the computer glitch happened I felt nothing but suspense and I was engaged the entire time. My third time watching it now and I am just trying to figure out how much was staged vs how much was just amazing editing and using footage you creatively put together to make us think all of London (or wherever this location is) is under a state of emergency. Bravo sir and thank you for the experience.
+initial focus Hey dude! I'm glad the meaning came across. I definitely spent a long time going back and forth with ideas until something cohesive was finally on the table. Even near the end, it was still back and forth, ha. Indeed, I did spend a lot of time capturing and waiting for the right moment which is also why the story was going back and forth. Can't predict these things 😊. 3D audio is just amazing and when it seems genuine, I feel, it has a greater effect too. The sound experience is just awesome. Could listen to binaural audio all day! Thank you so much dude. Really appreciate it 🙏

Feel like I say the same thing over and over again, AWESOME. Really love how you see the world and make it come to life. The way you captured the crowd shots on the crowded streets was spectacular. There were no tells. I was expected the kids to look or a passerby and they seemed none the wiser. Almost like they were a part of the filming. Either you got a big budget for this one, or you are very good at what you do. Maybe it's both. I for sure know you are very good at this. Hats off to you once again, sir!
+Jacques Slade Well as much as I'd like to say how awesome it was to get a big budget and have everyone in London crowded, looking panicked but unfortunately that wasn't the case. It was just me with when I could, help from my girlfriend. I just kept a bag on me at all times (got heavy as hell) until I found the right moment. Ash Tailor Haha yes now I'm browsing UA-cam for some 3D audio stuff. Found a video by The Verge on NYC. They got the audio right but gotta learn about cinematography from you lol.
I was thinking of going down that road but wanted to give something a little more intense and more representative of the soundscape you could achieve. I have tons of general recordings that I got for this but ultimately (and thankfully) a narrative piece was better :))
Ash Tailor Yeah totally! Out of the casual stuff we usually record, only like 5-6% of that fits in our vision for a short film/video. You expressed what would have taken an hour (boring), into an intense 8 minutes of fascinating stuff. Plus this is a great augmentation to your already great portfolio, which I see is the main aim of your channel, with the amount of work you put into it. Great stuff!

Holy. Crap. This was incredible.
The very thing that made me fall in love with filmmaking was the emotional roller coaster that are movies. They are stories that take you on an unusual but exciting experience. That is what I feel you captured perfectly in this film, and it is the type of thing that I want to create.
The critical part, the sound design, was so incredible.
I would have TOTALLY loved watching like 3 hours of this. The chills man.

This is wonderful Ash, People rarely realize how audio in video or film for that matter does the majority of the heavy lifting. To me, your videos are a breath of fresh air, so mature, thought provoking, and entertaining, all with your own personality firmly attached.

Thank you so much dude! This video has morphed and morphed until what you see above. Binaural audio is awesome and such, you can't plan these sounds, they either get the effect or you dont. Thankfully it turned out okay. The experience is quite awesome too. I didnt just want to give you the sound with a black screen. :)

As for the whole recording process, I do wonder, what file format was the audio recorded in? FLAC or WAV, or perhaps something as simple as MP3? It sounds very crisp, especially on my open-backs, incredibly clear, and obviously the soundstage was just bang on

The fact that you were able to simulate as if the people in the city were scared and frantic just from capturing a crowd in the city is incredible! I wanted to do something similar a while back but in a 3rd person perspective. This is really cool!

I was mesmerized by this. I recently started watching your videos ever since Dimitri from Hardware Canucks mentioned you in one of his reviews about the LG Ultrawide Monitors a while back. Now that I have one, I felt like I was in the short. The binaural audio sounded incredible on my pair of Yamaha HS8.

When I discovered that virtual barbershop video with 3D sound I was talking to an audio student friend of mine and we were planning on making a video like this but never got around to... gotta say you totally nailed it! Just got my new Sennheiser headphones and 4k BenQ monitor and this was a real pleasure to watch!
