@@zacmagers I actually have stopped using them. I used to love them, however, I found myself carrying them or keeping them in my backpack more than actually using them.
What made you use them less or stop? If I did more stretching / strength training for my knees and legs I’m sure I could do much better, but so far these have made a huge difference in how sore I get. Plus I think my knees are starting to turn against me for all the hiking! Does kinda get in the way of holding a camera tho that’s for sure
@@zacmagers I was doing knees over toes and strengthen my knees. Now they don't get sore and I found myself carrying more than using. So I made the decision just to go without them.
I find that using the poles slightly longer than to 90 degree rule works better. 90 degrees for me works out at 115cm, but I set my poles at 120cm. It gives a better mechanical advantage because the extra length means you plant them next to your feet/base of stability as you move , not in front of it. This means when you push on them as you walk, you’re pushing your self forward, not dragging a microsecond and then pivoting into a push. Try it, you might be pleasantly surprised at how much more efficiently it works. Or you may hate it 🤷♂️ YMMV as they say - hike your own hike! 🤣
I’ll definitely give that a shot! Thanks for the tip, sounds very interesting. Sounds like that will be good to try on flat ground. Thanks for checking out the vid:)
Thanks for the video. I feel fully prepared using poles on my next hiking trip as soon as I'll get into hiking.
Howdy there!
So glad this video found its way to helping, really awesome :) Stay safe out there and have fun!
Great Video Zac, I loved the editing!
Thank you! This was a fun quick one. Trekking poles rock!

Makes sense! I need to do more strength training on my knees for sure, they are definitely giving me some issues so the poles help for now
