Hey nice video. One correction: I did not animate all their videos. I made the Turn The Lights Off video, did the little bits of animation in Good Day, and did the quick post-it note animation in Rob's All I Need Is You video. I wasn't involved in the Hidden In The Sand video.
As an animation fan, I love that you were a part of these projects! Most music videos these days don’t happen to be animated, and aren’t as unique like animation. that’s what makes animated mvs really special
AAH IM SO GOD DAMN HAPPY THAT THE TALLY HALL FANDOM ISNT DEAD Btw the only songs I listen to now are Tally Hall related. Like, their either from the band or the band members. I'm obsessed and I need help lmao
Though _Joe Hawley Joe Hawley_ and _Hawaii Part II_ were released as a solo albums, Ross and Bora collabed on both, and all the members collabed on Joe Hawley Joe Hawley !
Also i’d like to add that this video makes me so happy! This band deserves so much love and i’d genuinely hope that we may get more of Tally Hall someday
Some commenters have made me aware of two things about this video: 1. Taken for a ride was written by Andrew, not Joe 2. Sketches has more then 3 songs Thanks for making me aware everyone! 😄 EDIT (the next day) ROSS FEDERMAN LITERALLY JUST EMAILED ME ABOUT THIS VIDEO!!!
Having discovered this band so long after they went on indefinite hiatus feels bittersweet. On one hand, I love all their music and I am ecstatic I can experience it. And on the other... there probably won't be any more.
I have been a fan of tally hall for four years and I wish that they could gain more attention, but I thank people like you who make things like this. Things that showcase tally hall and make it more well known even if it’s just to a few people. Ps If you go to the way back machine you can see tally halls old website that looked way different. I’ve been try to document the changes and different layouts as a side project.
Just realized that Dream Sweet In Sea Major has not only two puns in the name (sweet/suite is a form of music, sea/c major, the note it’s in), but it’s a sort of odd twist on Bohemian Rhapsody, what with its constantly changing theme. Dream Sweet In Sea Major is off the Hawaii: Part 2 album. It’s really peaceful.
MasterEth I know this is late as hell, but i also noticed that the song changes every minute, the song being 7 minutes long. 7 minutes, 7 styles, 7 seas.
The only Tally Hall or Tally Hall related songs I’ve heard is Hidden In The Sand, The Bidding, Turn The Lights Off, Dream Sweet In Sea Major, &, and Ruler Of Everything, And I’ve already fallen in love with the band. Each song is so different, with & being calm, then sort of frantic, D.S.I.S.M being really peaceful (same with Hidden In The Sand), then The Bidding being very upbeat, it’s hard to imagine they’re the same people making these wonderful works of art.
Hell yeah. I have such a hard time finding music I like- it's always scattered songs that I like, but not the band- but Tally Hall is one of the only groups I dedicatedly follow. Awesome video. I've never actually looked much into bands themselves, so this was a good place to start. Thank you!
Anyone who likes this band should check out "Night and Light" and "Variations on a Cloud", "Night and Light" is just beautiful and I've seen "Variations on a Cloud" very fittingly described as being like the song that would play over the end credits of a Tally Hall movie, it's just amazing and just has so many references to their other songs~
I found Tally Hall a couple years ago and have been listening since. I honestly had no idea the band was having a somewhat resurgence, which makes me hopeful for a possible 3rd album.
So glad I found someone else to talk about Tally Hall cause I keep thinking it's some kind of fever dream since NOBODY ELSE I KNOW IS TALKING ABOUT THEM
Great video! I had a few small nitpicks about Hawaii Part II: Part II and sketches, as they're actually longer albums with tracks not listed on bandcamp, but other than that this is a lovely little retrospective about my favorite band! Keep up the good work!
I remember finding Taken for a Ride on the Weekly Discover thing from Spotify and since then I have been going around trying to find any piece of Tally Hall content on the internet Really though, great video, looking forward to the rest of your content
Glad I found this video, I’m a new fan who’s trying to learn more about this band. Trying to explore their history on my own got super confusing and complicated due to how much content they have created and how much of it wasn’t officially released. Plus I don’t know anyone irl who know much about this band. Super excited to listen to all of their stuff!
if you like tally hall, you should check out neil cicierega/lemon demon! there's a lot of overlap between tally hall fans and neil's fans, and they both have wacky, awesome songs and music videos.
They remind me of the Beatles. Their look, the way they sound sometimes (Misery Fell, at times, sounds exactly like Eleanor Rigby), and their sometimes absolutely absurd songs. Plus the cover of M'sMMM really reminds me of the cover of Sgt. Pepper.
MasterEth sorry, I know this is much later but look him up he’s been responsible for a number of things online such as Brodyquest, he makes original music as Lemon Demon, he’s done 3 mashup albums (Mouth Sounds, Mouth Moods, and Mouth Silence) using Smash Mouth that have a lot of hidden easter eggs in them, there’s Ariel Needs Legs, Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, Potter Puppet Pals, among many other things. He’s made a lot and he’s been doing it for awhile
The first time I watched this video, I don't think I was in the mood to find new music. I listened to a few seconds to a few random songs, and I moved on. A few months ago, I found Cosmo Sheldrake, and enjoyed his music. Every platform I listened to his stuff on really started recommending a few tally hall songs hard, and for good reason. So now I'm left thinking why these two aren't more popular, like very popular. Their songs are often as good as songs made by bands and people I follow who are wildly popular.
Damn this video is good. You made this with great quality. This video honestly deserves more attention. Same with Tally Hall. The band is not very popular. Also, some members made a new band called “Musical Miracle” but in Japanese text. One of the most popular albums they made is Hawaii II. There is a lot of mysteries hidden in the band and songs.

That’s not such a true thing today, but we all still listen to their music regularly, and discuss it every now and then. So thanks for bringing back some of the greatest memories of my life.
