I've heard many versions of this beautiful song and there's just something about the piano that makes this version kind of magical. I don't know any other word to describe it.
De France. ( traduction reverso ) I listened to all the versions and covers of Landslide this very nice piece of Stevie Nicks and I must admit, that the one that moves me the most, is that of Tori Amos !!!!!!!! When it comes to piano covers, no one has the delicacy, touch, subtleties and sensitivity of Tori. Under the fingers of this magician of sound, each note that we savour becomes a musical instrument and take us into a world of inner feeling in perfect harmony with its song full of depth and intimacy that transport us together towards ourselves. The peculiarity and singularity of Tori is that in reality 'she does not play the piano! , YES she does not play the piano!! , but she plays with the (the) piano!!!!!! To such an extent that under his fingers the instrument becomes alive and is simply an extension of itself. With Tori, the ( the ) piano has a DNA, and she possesses it in her blood to the tip of her hair ( LOL ). Tori to the Gift of SUBLIMATE the instrument and sing with so much feeling that I had never before felt at this point this symbiosis of piano and singing at such a high level, that it awakened in me my artistic side. SSSSSSSUUUUUUUUBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!
I cannot believe she covered this, since I've always thought Winter and Landslide share similar themes -the change of seasons as metaphors to growing up, standing on your own, etc. Wow, I'm Speechless!
I used to sit in the waiting room at the train station with my best friend a little Springer Spaniel and I'd sing this loudly to her because the acoustics were just perfect inside that waiting room. When it was empty, the weather was cold, the sky turning darker and the dog tired and ready for home it always seemed to sound perfect. Sad bummer alert. My best friend died last year suddenly and since then I've never been in that waiting room or sang this cos I get watery eyes, a horrible stinging sensation in the back of my throat and my jaw and chin start to move and twitch so I stop.
Fur best friend death is sheer murder. Because their love and faithfulness are so pure and real. I still haven’t healed from loosing my Southpaw- my God knows it broke my heart and broke it and broke it. Oh your comment was two years ago- but I hope somehow you get this- that I can say confidently; I feel your pain.

I just read through the comments and I think it's rather disconcerting that people would debate which is the finer artist! Stevie Nicks wrote it herself and when she and Lindsey Buckingham did this song before Fleetwood Mac existed. (Buckingham Nicks) They did it beautifully! The song by copyright belongs to Nicks! I came here looking for Tori Amos doing various covers, this included. She is an astonishing performer and she did deliver an amazingly moving version of this song! Does Tori ever fall short? The answer is NO! Such talent and so much grace from Tori and Stevie was a Rocker thus the versions naturally would significantly vary. I'm in luv with this performance. Please don't misconstrue my intent. Just commenting on an observation regarding the comparison and arguments when they can't be compared. Tori is a classical artist and I've not seen a flaw in her masterful cover here. Stevie gives it a raw edgy sound. You just cannot compare the two. Perfect example it's like comparing Dolly Parton's 1st song written to Whitney Houston's version. It simply cannot be done! But than i just accepted it and allowed them be, people are just what they are, they will always put comments like "whos listening it in 3k89" or "wow this actor looks exactly like the other actor from this romanian tele-novela"..... So, nothing stops me from enjoying amazing and perfect cover of The Band, but my heart will always stay at Bruces howling harmony in a raw original. :)
This is from a disc that Y100 (a Philly radio station circa 1995-2005 or thereabouts) put out. I grew up with Fleetwood Mac, Tori and SP. I do have a to point out that Stevie said she was "honored" by Billy's performance, henceforth she would not have given him the copyrights to perform it. I adore all three versions, because all three are different in their own right, yet they also come from the same center of understanding. I completely appreciate everyone's opinions on whichever they like or dislike or like best, etc. But I don't think we should ever disrespect the reasons why an artist has chosen to cover a song because it evokes the same emotions that it does for us, and they are simply trying to share that with us as well, which takes an incredible amount of courage and humility! This song has always been close to my own heart from the beginning as well, and changes over time the older I get; which proves the amazing God-given talent behind it! So for me personally, for others to be able to "tap into" that deep well from their own personal experience using their own gifts only makes me more grateful, above all to God, and to the musicians that could have said "no", but instead understood just how much of an impact this song had made on so many people across so many genres of music! Music brings people together, so long as you allow it to be that peaceful thing it was created for! But at least we do all agree that we love "Landslide", and that is the whole point! God bless and keep you all! All my love in Christ, Koe`
