I used the new Daiya formula for this video. Not sponsored, it was just on sale at the time I made this video. Unfortunately, I just don't have the means to test this technique on every brand of cheese on the market. If you try with a different brand/type comment what you used and your result to help others out!

I'm actually really surprised how good Daiya's new cheeses are. It's awesome that an OG brand like that stays on their toes and became maybe my new favorite.

Yeah I'd say it's better for sure. I has been really interesting watching the evolution of vegan cheese over the past decade. It has really gotten leaps and bounds better.

Greek opah. I don't know if I'm spelling that right. It's fried cheese. My cat, & I absolutely love fried cheese. He( the cat) won't eat fried cheese if it is burnt. Otherwise, I do use Daiya for myself. I put vegan casserole dishes in the oven before, and the cheese stayed as hard as if I just put it in there. My husband eats regular cheese, so what the males eat in our house, I prepare the same just not all vegan. Cats are lactose intolerant and I am not certain I'd be able to break off fried crumpled bits of fried Daiya cheese anyway. He smells it, as if it is, & I do make his special favorite out of real shreds.😅 I can't say, "no".😮 So, anyway, yes I see your point. It's good. I do it, too. Oh, & the Swiss Daiya, is out of this world! It's delicious 😋!! Makes a terrific Reuben with that hickory sliced stuff, and rinsed organic kraut.(3 Onions) brand. Yum!😂

Just an FYI toast the inside faces of the bread, then place the cheese between the toasted faces so the heat from the pan doesn't have to penetrate through the bread to melt the cheese. Melts cheese better whether you are making vegan grilled cheese or normal.

You should mention the cheese. The new Daiya Oat cheese is some of the best vegan cheese I've ever had and I don't think other brands would do as well as this one did

I used the new Daiya. I've had an abundance of it as it has been on sale and it is also pretty dang good. I haven't tried this trick with all brands, but to my knowledge the major brands are roughly the same combo of ingredients and it should work. I'll report back here on this as I try it out with other types.

Thatll be why mine fail then 😅 deffo have to try your version, as a treat. Its not everywhere but Applewood smokey vegan cheese is now being sold in some parts of America, if you have it on sale nearby, its well worth a sample, even my non vegan family like that one 🤯😆 melts really well 😊

@@thatveganchick668 ooh I gotta be honest with u, pre vegan, I loved cheesey beans on toast, the smokey flavour is a bit odd in beans (unless you've never had it then I guess it doesn't matter lol ) the closest I've had to the sharp cheddar taste in beans was using nooch in place of cheese, probably like half a cup, , but regardless applewood is still a good vegan cheese to try, and i do the same, if it's expensive , I'll cut back on something else lol

For a little extra kick I put mustard (yellow or Dijon, depends how I feel) in the sandwich.

Wait, where's the seitan?! LOL! Still waiting for a not baby snot-like vegan melted cheese, and not sure if Daiya's new formulation is it. I bought a block of their new cheddar to make Welsh Rarebit with the half bottle of Guinness left over from making vegan Irish stew last weekend, and if it isn't gross, I'll give this grilled cheese a shot. Thanks for posting 🙂

After traveling and seeing the abundance of high-quality reasonably priced bread in other countries, bread quality (and price!) in the US is my biggest culinary gripe about living here.
