So that's how you get there. You even documented the journey while on the boat and how it felt like. Most vloggers, dont film this part. They just do a quick 3 seconds quick-cut of it. Appreciate this style of vlog. 👍

Hi Mergim! I'm a new subscriber. I literally spent my rest day watching your vlogs here in PH. I thought you're just like the other foreign vloggers here, same style, checking different places, foods, etc. However, I was drawn to your vlogs the moment I noticed how you interact with the locals, no matter if you're in an affluent area or not. You treat people equally, kindly and friendly, regardless of their social status. We really appreciate that. I also like how transparent you are, showing if you're upset, disappointed or unimpressed, because it's not always all comfort and convenience. I think most of your Filipino subscribers are like me. We subscribed to your channel not just because of the quality or editing of your vlogs, but also because you gain our respect and admiration. More power to your vlogs! Always take care and have fun!
P.S. I forgot, about your girlfriend Maya, I adore her so much. She's very genuine and natural. You're a good match.

There is a tribe there called the Mangyan, their Music and Culture is fascinating even to us locals. You should check the local Tourism there.. Mindoro is vast Island to explore, there is also a Tamaraw sanctuary there, an endangered animal endemic in that island,..
That is actually a go-to island for Me if i want a vacation and get out of the city life since it is the closest island to Manila

From Puerto Galera, you could head south east and make your way to Tablas and Romblon, amazing sleeper islands. OR you could go to the south end of Mindoro to San Jose and catch a boat ride to... Coron! Just a fan making some suggestions. Also, yes, there are a lot of places to go in South Luzon and renting a car would make it a lot easier.

6:25 its probably going LOWTIDE and the boat route has to change because the boat might bang into a shallow coral reef and will endanger the passengers. it is for the safety of the passengers why it has to go that way.

Before the pandemic, we used to take a boat with katig going to Puerto Galera. It’s a lot cheaper (less than 500 pesos per person) and faster (1 hour). It will drop you off at Muelle Bay and then you have to take a tricycle or shuttle going to White Beach. Mindoro waters are usually rough in the afternoon and evening. We always made sure that we travel in the morning. Now that you’re in Mindoro, check out White Beach, Tamarraw Falls and the Mangyan village. Go snorkeling because Mindoro has one of the most beautiful coral gardens and diving spots.

If you want to rent a car or a motorcycle, you can travel by ferry to most island provinces, which they usually refer to as Roro (roll on, roll off). It will be more convenient and minimizes the hassle of commuting. But your vlog style of including the trivial parts of travelling is very nice. It's a good guide for other travellers. Keep it up.

“Thank you, po…” Nicely spoken! You’re picking up on the language, sounding like the locals. You even got the intonation!
See, the rainy season isnt too bad… just short outbursts here and there. You’ll still have plenty of sun! No turning back now…
I like that Mindoro is your first island. Gradually easing your way into the Visayas. With the way you’re traveling, you’re likely to see the entire archipelago.
“The sun will come out… Tomorrow… Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow… There’ll be sun…. “ LOL!

Maybe you have not explored Batangas that’s why you have that unimpressive feeling, but Batangas is one of the most popular diving spots in the Philippines 🇵🇭 because of its lively coral reefs and it maintains its good reputation in that industry. Also, the scenery here is where most tourists pay for and not for a white sand beach as there is none actually you can find one in that area. Batangas is more of a peninsula and some areas near the lake of Batangas. Your unpredictable plan for your next itinerary could have been the reason why you had that disappointment in the first place. Stay safe and keep enjoying.

If you have more time on the island of Mindoro. Go to the other side: Occidental Mindoro and go to Sablayan town and into Apo Reef. Only few foreign vloggers go there. Usually they come there via Coron, Palawan, which is much more expensive.
    Enjoy and take care

I'm not sure bro. I feel a little bit bad that you had such a difficult time to get to mindoro. What we usually do though is take a boat to puerto galera white beach. It is on a smaller but faster boat. But anyways glad you are in Mindoro. Things you experience will be much better soon. Great video as always.

...from mindoro .. you can take a ride to calapan.. and from there ... you can go to roxas ... take a ferry to boracay...
... we already told u this is rainy/typhoon season...but since it is still early june ... you can hop to boracay ... then from there to cebu... because of your way of transport (non.avation)... I think it is better this way...

I’ve been following your blog since you arrived in the Philippines and have even watched your last few Thailand vlogs and have seen you subscribers grow here in the Philippines I find your blogging style refreshing and very down to earth. I also appreciate the fact that you are very savvy in negotiating prices with the tricycle drivers and good on you for not getting scammed by the inflated rates they try to charge you. But I take exception in your characterizing some of the hotels prices as “extremely extortionate” if the prices are too high for you just say so and we’re fine with that. But to call very good hotel “extremely extortionate” is a bit too much. Be authentic and just say currently out of your budget. Previous vloggers before you have stayed in those hotels and have given good reviews . Enjoy your Puerto Galera trip and maybe be a bit more mindful of your off the cuff quips next time.

    • @johnmarvincruz
      @johnmarvincruz 2 роки тому +1

@@bonlavel9740 Drawing your own conclusions and making spot judgment on people you don’t know is not a very smart thing to do. Did you even look at the facade of the hotel where he was quoted 6.5K a night? It looked like a 3 star hotel at least. Everyone knows trying to walk in and book a room in a vacation hotel they will give you the most expensive rate. Mergin was looking for a budget hotel and that particular hotel was not a budget hotel. He based the price of 1K on reviews on the hotel in Google. Hotel change their prices depending on the hotel season. During lean season they price the rooms lower and on peak season hotels charge a higher rate. That is not a scam that is in a nutshell the hotel industry. And no I do not work at the hotel I’m a retired business man who has done his fair share of business travel and understands how hotel pricing work. Is it fair ? Heck no but is it “extortionate” not even sure that is a word. Mergim could have said outrageously expensive in his opinion. And that would have been fine but to impute aspersion on a local business trying to survive in these trying times I felt was a bit too far. So Don chill he wasn’t scammed or anything he left that hotel and went for a cheaper budget hotel. I just felt that I needed to stand up for the pinoy business people from a careless remark by a foreigner in our country vlogging about our country while trying to make money doing so. I like the guy but that doesn’t mean we can’t call him out if he oversteps right?

    • @johnmarvincruz

@@kadoku Hey Kadoku I was not referring to that hotel with the birds. I was referring to the bigger hotel with the facade and courtyard which was obviously not a budget hotel. I myself would not stay in a hotel that has birds living in the AC. That’s a health risk and safety violation right there 😊

You really did put a lot of effort and handwork in putting up your videos daily. Travelling, editing and capturing videos while also trying to travel like locals can be really exhausting I can only imagine. And also you give your viewers HD quality, cinematography and the overall content is great bro. This is one of the reason I love watching your channel and also because you put up many unexpected surprises daily in your vblogs and it's like we're watching a drama series hahaha. Thank you for tagging us along in your Philippine journey. We'll keep watching and supporting. By the way, your gf Maya is super chill, cool and patient. I love her. Way to go Maya and Mergim.

Yeah, Days Hotel is quite old and the branding probably makes it cost more than it should. Going to Batangas City directly from Tagaytay really was many missed opportunities as everyone in Batangas City goes to every other town and city in Batangas when they want to do something.
Unless they have some access to property near the beach or remote area like a farmhouse in one of the rural areas of Batangas City, people in Batangas City go to Lemery, Mabini, Lobo for swimming or diving, maybe Lipa maybe San Pascual for food tripping. Taal has some heritage town stuff like old colonial buildings, pork tapa, longganisang Taal (local sausage), traditional costumes (may be pricey) and abanicos (folding fans), "morcon" which is what they call embotido. Calatagan and Nasugbu, and Laiya of course are very remote, and Laiya may be quite expensive.
Batangas City itself, I don't know what the cheaper hotels are like that Google said was less than 2000 a day, but they do exist for travelers. I think there's some near the port.
But really, unless you basically leave Batangas City proper, there's not much to do in Batangas City but go to SM City Batangas and there's less to do there than Lucky Chinatown. Verde Island is part of it though I've never been.
Batangas City really is kind of a gateway to Luzon island as much is it is a gateway to the other islands as a port city.
Unless they live there, people kind of go to Batangas City so they can leave Batangas City. Either via the Port to a different island like Mindoro (it's why many bus routes have a stop at the Port) or via bus to a different city like Manila at the Grand Terminal.
I don't know about the situation with the hotels, but basically, Batangas City's main tourism feature is the many ways you can leave Batangas City to go somewhere else. There's stuff to do, but it's stuff you can do anywhere else and it looks like you are.
Many people only ever pass through Batangas City exactly for what you just did, go to a different island so in a way, you did get the Batangas City experience.

Interesting. Wonder why the hotels are more expensive considering its state. I mean the branding isn’t really up to par these days. Maybe way beach when. There are other branded hotels that cost less nowadays.

    • @ojnab85
      @ojnab85 2 роки тому

@@iflipover Yeah, no idea. I'm not even sure why they built it there when they did as at the time it was basically undeveloped and it was years before they built the SM. It's not next to any beaches, there isn't a casino... the convention center and stadium didn't exist so it's not because they expected event crowds. Around it was mostly fields, a few karaoke bars, the public elementary school. Maybe they expected business travelers working on the natural gas projects and the refinery, but I imagine they had their own housing.
I think they do get people staying there, though. Some locals may have guests and they have them stay there or the other big hotel. Probably local business owners with business agreements with the hotels for discounted rates for their guests.
Maybe a wedding/reception venue since there are a couple big parish churches nearby. I think, though, for Days Hotel it's mostly because it's next to SM and the commercial area around it.
I'm sure there are cheaper, small hotels somewhere else but they'd still wake up wondering what to do in Batangas City to have fun and even for people who live in Batangas City the answer is to go somewhere else most of the time. Really, it has a Port with ferries, a Grand Terminal for buses, vans, and jeepneys, and access to STAR Tollway and so to the rest of the expressways. I think they're also planning on building a floating bridge to Isla Verde and then to Mindoro. Batangas City really is kind of built for having you go somewhere else.
I mean there are places to go for things to do especially if you have somewhere to stay and know how to get there without having to leave Batangas City outside of the city proper (Batangas City is pretty big) like Brgy. Ilijan that has some beach resorts, Montemaria has the giant Virgin Mary statue for pilgrims but it's about an hour away from the city and it's probably close enough to the municipality of Lobo to be worth continuing on there.
As a starting point or as a stop, it's perfectly good. But setting it as a destination? I think we just saw what that results in if you don't live there or are not there to visit somebody. Really good place to go if you want to go somewhere else, though.
