Hi Calam. I have owned the Kriss DMK 22 LR for a couple of years now and initially watching your review, I would have agreed with you. However I have had the same issues you have mentioned in the beginning, but please be informed it’s all all about the feed ramp. The with failure to feed, failure to fire, and failure to extract. A simple mod is to polish to feed ramp to a mirror finish and boom, all said issues gone. I have owned this rifle for two years now and it’s an absolute gem with 100% reliability. This gun will cycle even copper 22. I can not fault it. I find your review given a little fettling a little un-just and if you want to meet me at blue field sports for a demo I’m happy to do so. Love the channel, Over to you??

I have the factory bolt catch in my kris. I can confirm 15-22 mags do work in the kris bolt holds open on last round and dose NOT need a special bolt catch for that. Or a chip mine works a 100 percent without any mods to the rifle with 15-22 mags

I have to say this i have had a kris now for around a year and bit. I have had no problems with it runs just as good as my 15-22. More accurate to. I ran cci mini mags cci standard and Sk match as my standard round. Used american eagle in it as well and no issues with the gun. I gladly let you test my rifle and see how reliable they can be. I have heard that the firing pin can be iffy so i changed that to a titanium one only upgrade i have done.

after first 2 mags break in, i had no real problems with mine. after 500 rounds i had many FTEs but reason was dirty and gunked up extractor; i wanted to see how long it will go without malfunctions. cleaned it and last time shot 300 rounds of CCI standard velocity and did not have even one malfunction! also shot remington thunderbolt perfectly fine. all in all i am very very happy with mine and recommend it!

I’ve not had mine for that long and had the firing ping break plus feeding issues. Just yesterday I tried a bunch of different ammo though it and where CCI Minimag was jamming on feed, Winchesters did not - having a closer look at the head of the rounds, the Winchesters appeared to have very slightly more taper to them that did not get caught on the collar like the CCI did. It then ran through three mags absolutely flawlessly. Just an FYI for anyone out there with the same issue. Even after all that though, I still love it :-)

I like different rounds for different settings as most of you may and would recommend selling this rifle to someone you dislike that doesn’t have anger issues and picking up the Lantau SF immediately. It’s reliability ,structure and gear options are on point and if you just use you upper noodle ,have a bit of work done so your barrel options are again resurrected your on top of the mound. Great learning about the many options available there ups ,downs and remedies before a purchase, especially at a price like these carry for a .22. Certainly a blessing these folks do the research for those of us not globally known for our shooting to the point of having the frustratingly wonderful advantage of being sent products to quiz. I appreciate your hard work in the office and please keep it up . Would love to put any related products to the test of the SE US. It’s a different world than any other place. If it will pass our trials its a keeper. Mts to sea. Hurricane force rain to hurricane force winter blizzards. Dust to 100 0/0 humidity frozen to well in the triple digits all often in the same day . Keep your back to the sun and breeze in your face. Thank you. #Dyingtolive #outdooradventuresandproducttesting #NC

First 10k rounds was a dream, after that one ELEY squib at a match blew the bolt out. Nicely the RFD I bought it from changed out the bolt and it was back to great. If you use good ammo it will run easily but very cheap ammo will gunk it up 10x faster. The only thing left original on mine is the upper and lower. It's never failed me at a match but the base rifle nerds a good amount of work.

Sticking with my 1522. The Kriss looks good but who wants so many reliability issues and paying far more? I just want to have fun and spend less. Having said that, I am experiencing annoying last round hold open issues with my 1522...but I suspect it is down to some rubbish ammo I have been using up. 100% agree with the review. I know someone at the club who’s buffer ‘thing’ cracked after a year of good use. Also I’ve never seen one without a hole inside the mag well where the mag release is, it doesn’t effect performance but it looks shoddy.

Hole is there because receiver is cast, NOT forged as millspec receivers. That is reason why strength is way different then millspec or billet. Because that, there is chance for cracks or brakes.

Well done Callum. I had lots of issues with mine and in the end they replaced it with a new one. I wouldnt recommend this rifle to anyone. If they sorted out the faults with the low standard of production of certain parts eg the backplate as Callum has said then it would be a really good gun. I found it to be accurate and like the feel of it, but there are too many problems and I dont think mine will last more than a couple of years.☹

    • @stephenwilkinson8227
      @stephenwilkinson8227 2 роки тому

Have you looked at your back plate where the buffer tube is suppose to be? Every plate Ive seen has got metal fractures on or is starting to shear off. Ive had 2 and theyve both done it. So I got rid. Also there is a hole in the magwell where the magazine release button runs. Theyve not left enough metal there so the spring catches on the hole and gets bigger.

Have you bought it yet. If you haven't got the spare funds for say a more up market metal AR 22lr i would go for the 15-22 m8 i used to have one and it was a really nice rifle. I only sold it because i wanted a kris which I'm happy i did fantastic rifle. However looking at the R1 it has one of those horrible pencil thin barrel. The bolt is all enclosed so it looks a pain to strip and clean. Where the 15 -22 operates and strips like a 223 AR15 yes it is plastic but its a high quality plastic it won't break. Put it this way the plastic feels more solid on the 15-22 than on my glock 17 i use at work. I defo go for the 15-22 over the R1 if it was me. 15-22 got last round hold open to. Hope this helps you could always go down the second hand market you might be able to pick up a tippman or kriss if you are luckey.

@Viscous Shear I see what you mean, almost every club has a Ruger 10/22. The Ruger is a closed-bolt rifle and unlike open-bolt configurations will not lock open on its last round. The reason I like them is because they are so modifiable, and are often very cheap to replace/upgrade parts!

Some points / comments to your video:
    1) The handguard is KeyMod compatible. You just remove the locking lugs and directly mount the KeyMod accessory. This is information from Kriss themselves. So not a "moneymaking scheme" ;)
    2) Why is a operational buffer tube a drawback on a .22? It doesn't stop you from fitting any accessories and you can replace the buffer tube with any mil-spec one.
    3) Any 10/22 barrel can be dropped in - the rifle used an adaptor in the receiver. Kriss don't recommend tight match chambers, but some run them without issue. YMMV.
    4) The barrels are 16.0" (not 16.5") on all the variants available in the UK. In relevent markets there is also a DMK22P-SB model which has a 8" barrel.
    5) The problems you had were specific to that rifle. I use mine for gallery rifle and it has to be 100% reliable or you are out of the competition. I'm using CCI AR Tactical and never, ever, ever experience misfeeds or failures to extract and I'm shooting around 10,000 rounds per year through it and with genuine Kriss magazines. That's not to say I have not had problems with other ammo, but the CCI AR Tactical's are perfect in mine.
Poor review I'm afraid, but keep up the good work :)

And to be fair, you did miss the one common issue with these rifle - firing pins breaking. They do this with alarming regularity. Simple fix with a £40 upgraded pin which takes 2 min to fit. Haven't heard of any of those breaking.

For my use-case I don't need lights, lasers, 90° handles, finger stops, hand warmers, washing machines or anything else attached.
