Sorry mix hound I gotta paste and run got school stuff, but I didn't want to leave you hanging. Anyone who enjoys this please comment I am open to all kinds of criticism so please do comment I m online all the time and will always respond your comments. Tell me what you think good or bad.
He sat down at the bar and ordered his usual, a simple beer. "Hey, colonel you ok?" asked the bartender.
"Not really Sam, I had to tell a wife and a seven-year-old girl that her daddy wasn't coming home anymore. Sam, I don't think I can do it anymore Sam, some nights I can still hear the crying of the kids and the wives, other nights I can hear them blaming me. It's as if I am in a self-made Hell."
"Colonel, we all must go through our own personal Hell at some point not matter how hard we try, sometimes it just isn't enough and there is nothing we can do about it." He placed the Colonels beer in front of him "THiss one on the house Colonel."
"Thanks, Sam." He slowly sipped at his beer thinking about what Sam had said when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head and saw a woman. "Come to blame me for your husband's death?" He turned away and continued to drink his beer.
"No, I came to thank you." The woman said quietly as she sat down next to him.
"What?" The Colonel was perplexed and confused.
"Colonel Williams, you were my husband's closest friend and comrade you there with him until the very end. I can't be mad at you for doing your job."
"I still remember him as I saw his chest fall down with a final breath, I sent him to his death it is all my fault he is dead." He began to cry and sob openly.
"Colonel you can't blame yourself, he knew the risks and he could have refused the mission, but he didn't because he knew that even if he didn't make it you would take care of me and Sally." He looked away and began to stop crying "What you didn't think I knew where that large influx of cash came from? Colonel" The words rang in his ear like a beautiful bell " I forgive you."
