You are my hero. Great vibes and full of knowledge. Always. I hope to be a captain one day. I have one of your Poles as well. You are a class act sir and a phenomenal fisherman. Mogan fan for life right here.
caught a 28 inch speckled trout today.... Biggest speck of my life, by the fight that thing pulled off i could swear it was a redfish.... thought back of this video,,, clearly that trout was a Mogan! Cheers Blair!
I'm moving back to the island in about a month or so. I used to fish at my cousins house in the canals. Take the boat out at around 9PM or so and fish the lights. You think you catch some good ones? Try the deck lights up and down the canals. You wont get the 28 inchers...but you'll get dozens and dozens of 16-20 reds and specks all night long. Take the canal by whataburger and take the innercoastal waterway up to the next set of canals and go wild. Use those lights to your advantage.
I use a left handed wing casting reel, that way I cast with my right and reel with my left hand. If you smell water melon, trout are feeding in the area.
@nref55 i do not know exactly where he filmed but, the laguna madre runs from one spot to the other, i go fishing here in back of laguna vista in the laguna nd catch alot of Redfish and Trout Even flounders every now and so,
Captain Blair, first off, great video. So many great fishing tips. Appreciate it! What's the largest speckled trout you've ever seen? And, what's the largest length they're capable of reaching? Back in the early 90's over at Holly Beach in the Lower Laguna Madre, my brother and I saw this old man land a huge speck! This old man was about 5'6" tall. He was holding the trout by its gillplate flung over his shoulder and the tail was just about touching the ground. Dare I say 50+" long?NoJoke
Captain Blair, is it necessary to use a swivel on the on of your line? I've been told to do so, but i see you land big o' ones without a swivel. Just asking. Thanks
@MusicMaker451 They are fishing the upper laguna madre, so i wouldnt find it, if your from lower laguna, behind bird and green island are great spots, also near the duncan houses
I really enjoy your videos Capt Blair, makes me more addictive in fishing lol, wish i could have one of your awesome Rod, I love to have one of those tough Badass Rod lol. Please......
Capt. Wiggins, I'm barley start fishing here in the lower laguna madre. Which rod and reel can you recommend to me, also what pound line would you recommend? Thanks!
I grew up, we have a Home and graduated from Alvin HS....Hilcrest Village. Fished EVERY Local body of Fresh water including the Golf Course...Lol...Before Never looking Back and Fishing Salt
I don't like being Negative...But the How to rig section was POOR. U were using some sort of Looks like Sliding Chartreuse rattle chamber ahead of the Hook, but U decided to Not Say or Show...still a Thumbs up....BUT
Thanks for the reply. Just came in a bit out of the South Texas heat. Trying Finish rebuilding One of my boat docks destroyed by Harvey. So I will definitely check the Link out this evening. Simply most of use Flourcarbon leaders and either a Kahle or Circle hook for this type fishing...The Fun part is any "Tricks" like beads, rattlers, etc...added or tried. That is the Fun part of Fishing....experimenting....Happy Fourth with Rods Bowed Up : )

i love fishing
I do not use swivels. I tie a loop knot to my hook or lure, so it will allow the bait to move freely.
Captain, if you're ever in the Laguna Madre again, I'd love to watch the filming.
I was going to save watching this vid for later but then I realized you were in Texas so...\m/
I just caught a 10 pounder last week, so check out this year's show for my biggest.
