oWinter Snowo Official Site I’ve never met or seen an emotionally stable artist. Regardless their age or any aspect of life in general. I think it’s just part of what makes us artists. It’s our curse. But I wouldn’t change anything tbh xD
It would be super helpful if you could make a video like this about hands. You have this really great way of making hands look really natural, but not coo complicated! Great video btw!
An updated video on some tips and suggestions I have for getting better. I'm not a teacher by any means, these are just some things I wish I'd done when I was learning and they are things I do now. If you are more busy you could always do just 3 sketches a day. Also, I know I used a lot of really sketchy lines in the video but it's good to practice using longer lines than making "hairy marks", I'm still trying to get better at this myself. I added a little challenge at the end along with the giveaway winners. Love ya guys!
+Audra Auclair I am fascinated by your drawings, and I am inspired to be a better artist through them. I think the challenge is really something I can do to get better as well!
Also, have you heard of Irodori watercolor paints? I bought them several years back, and I am still wanting to use them, but I don't have a lot of experience with using them... Any tips if you have used them would be appreciated! Love your work.
I was just telling my partner I needed to start learning how to draw faces the other day, this is a nice little challenge for me to try and learn how to draw face. Thank you so much!!!
Colloquial Arts thank you very much I'll need it XD I been avoiding faces for so long that I feel is time to learn how to draw faces so I can advance with my art
Remember guys it's not about wishing you won but celebrating those who did. So with that said congratulations to the winners! ❤ And loved the video! It was very helpful! 😊
A really good method to look at for the really basic structures and planes is the Loomis head. It's super great to use for portrait studies to get the proportions and difference in distances between features from a basic set up
WOW, 8:40 talking about the basic shapes and shading just really hit home. I get what people were saying before but you made the intuitive side of my brain light up. Thank you!
I used to have this professor in a figure drawing class who taught us, the students, the 'skeleton in the box' proportion thingy, and I thought it was so cute when she'd watch us draw a skeleton in class and say, "isn't it so satisfying when your drawing hits the borders and your drawing fits perfectly in the box?" Your advice is superb, and I appreciate you sharing! I love your art and vids :)
If you are feeling super generous perhaps you could upload your Japan sketchbook as a pdf to purchase? I just really wanted to see them all! Just an idea, if you wanted it to be exclusive I totally get that too. But yay! I love videos by Professor Audra lol, definitely gonna start the challenge! :) Is this in place of May We Draw Daily?
Oh my gosh thank you sooooooo much I literally have days where the face comes out so weird and other where the face comes out perfect plus my angels are always a bit off this helped so much thanks
This video really helped me a lot! I get so frustrated drawing different angles so I just stick to drawing them front view but this video makes want to practice more. Thank Audra ☺️
This was super helpful, I might have to take part in your monthly challenge -- a follow-up on hands and/or composition would be awesome too. And congrats to the two winners!!
This was super helpful, I struggled with shaping, shading, and perspectives that just by drawing and practicing what you did here I can tell that I've improved! Thank you!
Wow, the way you presented this tutorial matched perfectly with my style of learning, thank you so much! You're incredibly talented (obviously) and I'm honestly amazed that you basically just laid out the answers to all of my major inquiries regarding advancing as an artist and getting better while drawing faces/heads! Instant sub!
Didn't win but so happy for those who did! Although I am super bummed I missed out on your Japan sketchbook, I am hoping sometime in the future you will release another sketchbook! Prints are amazing, but there is something just so special about having a book with all the sketches/art to look through. Thank you for this helpful video! :)
Congrats to the winners, and thank you so much Audra this video helped me so damn much!!!!!!!!! I'll definitely be posting my 1 month challenge after I finish moving and get my art area set up!!! ☺️👍💖
Thanks so much for uploading this vid! I've been doing the while "being an artist" thing for significantly less time than most people I consider amazing artists, so it's a bit of learning curve, but this reminded me that I need to take baby steps. I'm trying to practice a bunch now and using up my sketchbooks for practice. I have so many sketches of skulls now but I kinda love it 😆
I'm going to end up trying the challenge but I won't share it. I think it's the perfect way to get better especially since I just started drawing. Thanks for the tips!
Between you and Rambutan Illustration, I feel like I'll be slacking if I don't use some of my vacation time next week to practice the basics, again. I'm glad to be feeling inspired to draw again, at least. Maybe I'll try the challenge.
I'm not sure if you'll ever read this maybe, some you-tubers don't really read all their comments on their videos but i just wanted to let you know your my favorite artist and i use your art for reference all the time and i really love your art :) I always have trouble finding my own art style i guess its cause im young (14) but your art makes me a better artist :) your awesome thanks for making videos and art
Oh gosh, This video is INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you! I always feel like faces are my weakest subject to draw, and this video just helped a lot in wrapping my mind around it. I'm definitely gonna do the #1monthmug challenge!
this was such a beautiful video setup!! The video looks so clean and beautiful with all the colors and the video was really well structured (: well done Audra x Miriam
I got so excited for a second when you said "Janelle" hahaha ohhh weeeellll, congrats to the actual winner/s! Anyway, this video was really helpful and I'm defs going to give the challenge a go 💫
I really love this video, it was incredibly useful. I've been really working on my fundamental drawing skills lately and even though I used to be able to draw from photographs in a hyperrealist style it's absurd about how little I actually knew about shade, form, perspective etc., it was like I was completely dependent on the images for that information and never actively thought about what I was doing. Working in the way you demonstrated is soo beneficial I really wish I knew this stuff years ago. Also you're a really good teacher by the way, I'd love to see more tutorials like this - you're good at teaching how to think and approach things. I'm going to stop rambling now, as I sound like a complete sycophant, but I just wanted you to know how much value this video brought to me this morning! :)
feel like week one is a bit of a cheat week for me because I'm a fully qualified forensic anthropologist (I know the human skeleton very, very well) as well an artist. But I'm sure I can find a way to make it challenging 😍
Thank you for saying "use references" most times ! It helps a lot LOL , otherwise I wouldn't have really paid much attention to the sentence-- "use references"
Can you do a tutorial on how to live
Still figuring that one out myself haha!
😂😂😂 funniest thing I've seen all day
you doing okay? xD
Most artists have this syndrome that doesn’t allow us to be mentally healthy or at least not fully :v
oWinter Snowo Official Site I’ve never met or seen an emotionally stable artist. Regardless their age or any aspect of life in general. I think it’s just part of what makes us artists. It’s our curse. But I wouldn’t change anything tbh xD
To quote every English/art teacher I've ever had ever: "You need to know all the rules before you can break them."
Jelly Cubez ii
Your teachers are badass
oh shit
but i cn break them not knwing
Wow, applause to that👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 I actually just learned that today, after 16 years of drawing😅😂 Better late than never
It would be super helpful if you could make a video like this about hands. You have this really great way of making hands look really natural, but not coo complicated! Great video btw!

Have you been studying Andrew Loomis a lot? I can see a lot of his techniques in this video. Looks great:) Im super excited to start this challenge.
It gets me mad that whenever someone sees me drawing and they see i have a referance photo on my phone they call it copying and they judge me for it

This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen on youtube! Thank you! I hope you continue this series
If you are feeling super generous perhaps you could upload your Japan sketchbook as a pdf to purchase? I just really wanted to see them all! Didn't win but so happy for those who did! Although I am super bummed I missed out on your Japan sketchbook, I am hoping sometime in the future you will release another sketchbook! Prints are amazing, but there is something just so special about having a book with all the sketches/art to look through.
