Couple of hints (just IMO). For people who don't like mirrors out in the open, hang one on the back of a door, but full-length is important. If your couch isn't all that lounge-y, add a footrest and a throw blanket for cool weather. Stay minimalist -- even wall clutter is a turn-off. And make sure to keep your place stocked with things like make-up remover, shampoo/conditioner/soap in the bathroom, milk/sugar/herbal tea/chocolate in the kitchen, and "supplies" in the night tables.
John, as far as artwork goes, look at your cellphone or camera. Some of the best art you already have. There's plenty of places to send your images off to and you get some really amazing pictures back. As far as coffee goes, I'm going to recommend the one I have. Bunn. It makes great coffee in about 3½ minutes. That and I've had mine since 2003. Best coffee maker I will ever have had!
Great topic and great advice. As a renter for quite a while I’ve mostly been living in austere environments because I’m never sure how long I’ll be in the same place, and therefore I don’t want to go through the effort of unpacking and packing back up . Big mistake. I’ve decided to make my place a home as quickly possible to get the most bang for my effort. Regarding the sofa, when I bought mine the main criteria were it had to be long enough to lay down fully stretched out, and deep enough to spoon. 🙂
I think your observation about pieces of furniture cannot be stressed enough to men building a bachelor home: well selected individual pieces matter more than sets. Thanks again for another video and thank you for the discount code. I checked out the website and will be ordering a set! Happy Thanksgiving
Also for your bathrooms it's good practice to only have display towels hanging up. Use the towels in the closet or under the sink for when you or a guest take a shower
Your place is looking great. Bravo on the luxury bamboo bedding and towels! They are truly game changers. I see you like supergraphics, I've found some very cool pieces at Ikea, at very affordable prices. They also have very comfy nap inducing sofas. 😉Legend!
I was so excited to see the title of this video! I feel like you could go so much further with it and even interview an expert in the areas of improving our bachelor pads. Fell just a little short, but it was a great video. Give us some more! Thanks.
You are so right about towels making a lasting impression - it's always my biggest "gross out" when the towels smell mildewy and. disgusting. Great suggestions 🙌🏼
When I bought a new condo, I took advantage of the complimentary design services most stores offer (looking at you Pottery Barn and West Elm) when purchasing major pieces. They asked me pertinent questions of my lifestyle, come out to my condo and measured the room/s and made appropriate recommendations. When the furniture was being delivered they came out to ensure placement. Then you can add your personal touches to complete the look. You’re going to spend the $$ anyway, might as well use their services. For more healthy budgets, they’ll even recommend painters, etc. for which you’ll be charged for naturally. Simplicity and lack of distractions are key to a great home. One should be able to walk into their home, and with one sweep of the eye, understand the flow. To me, a HOUSE becomes a HOME when it shelters the body and soul from the stresses of the outside world. #Legend
here is the deal. you need 1) a leather couch, preferably a chesterfield. keep it forever it looks better as it gets older. 2) mens club chair. 3) a butterfly chair .4) a zebra skin rug. 5) a persian rug 6) a couple of nice framed paintings. 7) some etchings or pen and ink drawings. 8) a well equipped kitchen. and most importantly 9) a well equiped and appealing bar. thats it.
Legend- Great Video!!! I Loved My Old Bachelor Apartment 20 Years Ago!! I Still Definitely Need To Change Up Some Things In My Space, Even Though I Am Married.
I like the idea of scents in the home... noticing how much you cook, the fantastic cigars, tight coffee game you choose and cocktail smoker I can only imagine the place smells great already sir
John, great bachelor pad tips. Sometimes men’s magazines like GQ have great ideas for furnishings too. One can use it as an inspiration and find actual pieces that are more budget friendly.
Funny enough when this video was uploaded I was going over my new apartment interior plans lol John your timing on your videos are really impeccable lol.
I like having a couple of comfortable seats in the living room to complement the sofas. A good source for art work, like photographs, is Target & IKEA.
Great video. I have an art suggestion: framed posters of famous art. Over my living sofa I have Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. It’s in a brushed aluminum frame.
Love this John! Word to the wise and from personal experience…. Whatever you buy… make sure it can fit in the room you want it haha #guilty. 😂. #legend and always make time to vacuum and dust weekly!!
All a bachelor needs is a lazy boy, a side table on one side , mini fridge on the other and the biggest tv that he can afford. That is my ultimate bachelor pad.
One important thing: make sure the trash can in your bathroom has a cover. Women don't want to see your random trash if they use your bathroom. One of those step things that open the top is so much cleaner looking than an open basket full of garbage.
Buy black towel's. Women have to clean make up and they dont whant to leave marks on white towel's 👍 have spare shampoo unopen thoot paste and thoot brush. And a veriety of soft soaps like dove... also unopend.
Great topic. There is nothing wrong with your decorating style, as it is clearly a reflection of your aesthetic. But I have to admit that it gives me generic "toxic masculinity" vibes. I'm not saying it's oppressive, per se, but it does seem a bit aggressively masculine, as if you are trying too hard to proclaim "I am a heterosexual man, dammit!" There is no joy here; just variations of browns, blacks and whites. Everything is so serious and moody. You need pops of color. Even a little whimsy. Some unexpected, personal elements that have personal meaning to you. I can respect a man who is comfortable enough in his own skin to embrace things that are more stereotypically feminine, e.g., flowers, the color purple, etc.
Bedroom sets are for your parents? Really? ...or for mature adults who can afford to shop at furniture stores instead of thrift shops. Maybe a random chair to break it up, but at least have a cohesive theme. I like the rest of what you say, but gotta disagree on this point.
I love my bachelor pad because it's void of psychotic women.
Haha!
LMAO great comment😭

Just bought new furniture for two rooms of my house (living & dinning)
Great coffee advise. I definitely need to add an expresso machine to my kitchen. Muchas gracias mi amigo. Keep them coming John
Thanks Norman!

Your rented house looks OK to me I like minimalistic “the uncluttered look”
Thanks Andrew!

Is that a cordless lapel mic you're using? Make and model?
Yes. Moman.
Loving the full length mirror. Great video mate. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Paul!

Converting my spare room into a Rockabilly/Tiki man cave! Next my bedroom! 😊
Great video. Agreed with almost everything except for mirror in the bedroom.
Thought this was going to be a house design. Thankfully, I already have mine designed / planned, top to bottom, inside and out.
I like having a couple of comfortable seats in the living room to complement the sofas. A good source for art work, like photographs, is Target & IKEA.
A custom crafted latte with a heart on top.😂😂Stop it John, you’re killing me !

Btw. If you’re a bachelor over 40 yrs old. Stay single. You are one of the lucky few.
Woman say wow when they come into my crib , they think I hired designer
Good man!

Sofas have exposed legs; a couch's leg are covered.
I'd love to know your opinion on semen retention/nofap......🤔
I hear a lot about the benefits, but not sure who to trust. Maybe an idea for a video.
Tired of my musty towels

What!?!?!?!?!?
And once you're married she doesn't want to drink your heart latte art cappuccinos 🤣🤷🤦

Well enjoy the bachelor pad colour schemes now! Once your married welcome to the world of pink and glitter 🤦
Haha!
If your place is not making a woman comfortable, she won't want to spend time there...
True.
