Books: heavy, cumbersome, and take up a LOT of space and energy. I used to have a large collection, but when I adopted the minimal lifestyle, I realized I didn't need to hold on to so much. All my books are digital now. I don't need to impress anyone with a wall of books. It did take a while to get to this mentality, as I'm a graphic designer by trade, and I love a beautifully crafted book.
Speakers: Make no sense in an apartment. I have a sound bar that I bought specifically for my apartment. It doesn't have a sub. That's all I need. I'm not pissing off the neighbors.
Art: Eh, this is personal. I have a few pieces, but again, they can be cumbersome, depending on how many and size. Not to mention, if you're like me, your tastes evolve, so the art that may be appealing to you now, might not be in a year or two.
Pillows - functional: YES, Decorative: UNNECESSARY and just more clutter.
Plants: I have no issue here as long as it doesn't turn into a jungle. There is a limit. Women tend to go overkill in this area. Leave the outside... outside. Having a couple of decorative plants or a small tree can add a nice touch, though.
Candles: Yes. You want your place to smell good. That said, don't do a different smell in every room. Stick to one scent at a time.
Lighting: YES. This is most important to me. I need a calm, warm, inviting place when I get home. Lamps set a more relaxed mood and allow light to land where needed, helping you to relax and adjust to the twilight hours. Overhead lighting with white light bulbs is not only ugly as hell, but messes with your body's ability to adapt to night mode. If it looks like day inside your place at 10PM, you're doing it wrong.
Full-length mirror: Yes, to a degree. I generally know what I look like and what works well in my wardrobe. I use my bathroom mirror for the important parts. I don't need to see my shoes and my jacket together. That said, mirrors make rooms look larger and give you the option to see yourself if needed. There have been times over the years where I actually did need a full-body mirror. I just don't need one often enough to justify the purchase... yet.

You made a lot of good points but you failed to mention a few items that are essential in a man’s home. A gentleman should have a matched set of dishes so when he serves a meal it’s not on a mismatched set. You can get a nice set at Ikon that are not expensive. If a lady spends the night a gentleman should be able to give her a cup of coffee in a nice coffee cup and not a plastic cup. This also applies to glasses. If a gentleman is going to serve wine, he should serve in a wine glass not some paper cup. The final item is nice set of sheets, which should be washed at least once a week. If I’m going to have a lady over I wash my sheets that day.

You can keep pillows in this thing called a "Linen closet". Nothing worse than having to move 500 pillows every time you want to sit. Along with your extra towels and bed sheets, which you should also have too. You can use the back of that closet door to hang a ironing board on and do your ironing there. This is something ALL guys should know how to do along with washing your clothes. I have 35 guitars and basses hanging on my walls and my artwork is signed photos of musicians. I not only have speakers...I've had them since I bought them new in 1981, along with the rest of the now vintage stereo system (Pioneer). Younger women are STUNNED at what a real, high end stereo system actually sounds like! Since I'm in my (paid for) house, I can play it as loud as I please. Also guys.....DUST stuff off!! Get a duster on a stick and do your blinds and ceiling fans too! Grab your vacuum out of the linen closet and use it. Sweeping a floor is just the first part. I have a small library. Plenty of books that I like to read. One warning guys.... enjoy your own apartment/house while you can because when a woman moves in, your "stuff" goes!! Its all about what she wants and your things are not part of that, ever. Ever hear of a thing called a "Man Cave"? What do you think that really is? Its the "You need to get your junk out of my house" room. Doesn't matter if you paid for the house, its hers now. Yep, you guessed it, I live alone and my house is all mine for that reason.

I have everything except a plant. My wall art is primarily band posters, anime art, and 1 painting that I love because of it's duality. I have 4 different scents based on the season. I change my candles and my glade plug in scents every season. Spring is usually lavender and lemon, Summer is linen and ocean, Fall is cinnamon and apple, and winter is Vanilla bean and usually something christmas-like. I change them on the equinoxes and the solstices. I have a reminder in my phone. My book collection is actually pretty impressive. I was pissed when my old book shelf collapsed due to the weight. I had to get 2 sturdy oak ones that take up half a wall. My computer and my TV both have independent speakers and a woofer (I play video games so when I drop a bomb, I want to hear it in surround sound). I have 3 pillows. 1 I put between my knees to keep them from cracking together because I sleep on my left side. 1 is to provide a base for my 3rd one which is an ergonomic pillow which keeps my spine from aching. I layer the pillows because my neck needs a little bit more space so it's not in a weird angle while I sleep. There are 2 types of lighting in my home. The overhead lights which are every day use, and the lamps on my end tables which tend to be a little bit more mood-setting and are usually used when i'm reading. I do have a full length mirror, but it's in my bathroom so most people won't see it.

Advice? Here goes, and note I've learned this from personal experience not having UA-cam videos to enlighten me (I'm 61, and yes that thumbnail of mine is real).
Two absolutely huge items a man needs to accomplish:
1st, Get the education you need to earn a very good income. It doesn't have to be college but can be (electrical engineering for me). I know a plumber who leveraged his skills into a 15 employee business and now owns an Alfa Romeo 8C, Ferrari 575 Barchetta (manual no less!), Lamborghini Mura (in restoration purgatory), and two old V4 beater Saabs he likes to wrench on. He's now probably 65 and has a lady who's maybe 50 (I see no finger trophy) who is slender fit, and attractive for her age.
Now, on the education & career, understand this will often take a good eight years to really hit your grove (for me it was 4 years military then engineering school). Income matters hugely to women, and honestly you don't want to care what gas costs anyway. Also, the change in women's interest in you really jumps when they find out what you do for a living and they know it pays well. Women's changing attitude towards me was kind of a shock after being completely invisible through my military and college years (few women around making that scene worse).
2nd, but in parallel to getting that education, get your sorry a** in the gym, get fit, and put on some muscle. And yes, this is going to take some years as well, so get to it. I didn't start going to the gym till I was 30 looking for low impact exercise (had my fill of basketball) and didn't believe I could ever put on any muscle. I was wrong!!!!!! In about five years I went up three shirt sizes. Now, I was always noticed since I'm tall, but that was as far as it went. But then putting on 20 lbs of muscle changed my world! Let's put it this way; "Doors of opportunity open" when you're quite fit, muscular, and healthy looking. People are more receptive when you're in such condition. And I'm not just talking about opportunities to roll in the sack with some women, it's career and a lot more.
UA-cam is great for exposing female nature and how to manage it, but you first have to get on your purpose and make it happen. For men this takes some years and as such any dithering is a giant waste of time. Put in the work and YOU will be the one women find attractive. All you need to do is be in their space and pick up on the cues they give out signaling interest.
Oh, two more things; charm is powerful. It will get you much further in life more often than being the bulldozer trying to push through everything.
And ask yourself; where do you want to be in your life when you're 40 years old? Best get working towards that goal today.
And so there you have it Bray. That's my advice and for me it was learned from trial, error, and fumbling around wasting years and ending up in a very disappointing marriage (Don't Do Crazy!!!). But, I'm doing great. Kicked the wife out, retired early, resolving a few minor issues, and then will be out enjoying the country side (Death Valley in February? I'm going!).

    Very subjective list - which I apparently mostly agree with...? Being old and having been married I think my take on this is a little different;
    1) Book collection - I don't think you'd enjoy my book collection; mostly programming/computer tech, foreign language (Japanese and Korean), and tabletop RPGs. But I definitely agree with having one.
    2) Speakers - ? Just... speakers? I'm assuming the actual audio source is unimportant? Do PC gaming speakers count? With today's smart TVs it's usually a non-issue to use that as a music player.
    3) Wall art - well, no. I have a calendar and a piece my daughter drew in calligraphy ink, but generally no. Just something to gather dust, so for me only things that have actual personal meaning.
    4) Pillows - well, yeah, seems obvious but younger guys might not have hit on this point yet.
    5) Plants - absolutely not. I travel and I'm just not having any living things in my home. Also, plants tend to attract insects so another no thanks. I raised two children and I don't need to prove that I can "take care of something" to anyone.
    6) Candles - not a fan of coating my walls with wax soot. If they're never used for lighting then they're just decorative, and what most consider "decorative" I consider "clutter".
    7) Nice lighting - It is important to have sufficient lighting to read and to light a space when one has company. Aside from that, one only needs sufficient light to avoid tripping hazards.
    8) Full length mirror - Did that for a bit because the wife wanted one, but it was never actually used and ended up merely yet another thing to dust.
My list is much shorter - clean. If I go to a woman's home all I expect is clean. I wouldn't be there if I hadn't already established that she likely has a book collection, etc. I feel like personal traits like cleanliness are far more compelling that the objects one surrounds themselves with.

That music you had playing in the background, now that would be something I'd love to play in my apartment, so ambient, calm, soothing, relaxing....ur def NOT wrong when it comes to jazz or classical music. What about a 67" 4k to 8k tv hanging on the wall...so one can "Netflix and Chill" or "hulu and Chill", also having a smart device like google home hub or amazon echo is also good. Other than that, just love this! Thank you!
And having like certain cultural artifacts or statues from one's travels or archaelogical trips does create a sense of mystery and curiosity for the girl who notices it and having photos on say, an electric fireplace....anything that will make her quite curious and interested! The humidifier with the scents, finally i can put that to good use! Like if you have artifacts, it certainly is a conversation starter cuz she will ask you about those...and also a glass cabinet full of amazing delicious wines imported from all over the world ....something you can bring out and share!

Good tips though really, Courtney, I've had a Mimosa plant in my room for a couple years now(and kept it alive). I like the most intelligent plants. The "Sensitive Plant," a type of vine-like Mimosa ground cover plant, retracts it's leaves or an entire bow when you touch it, of it feels threatened by that touch. I also used to have incense sticks. I'll get some candles though, instead. Maybe bees' wax? I've read that regular exposure to petroleum product smoke(think oil and gas fumes, car exhaust as well as actual candles, etc.) can be carcinogenic and hard on our lungs. That's why I even got rid of my big collection of really good smelling incense sticks, just because I liked the smell so much I would let them burn too long, making myself breath in excessive amounts of smoke from whatever they were using in those sticks both the good and bad. On the full length mirror, I definitely agree, though if I were your guy I'd definitely miss watching to climb up on the side of the tub to see in the mirror. 😉 😄. Take care and keep learning to steadily be and slowly improve the best version of you. 🤩
