It's nice to see that people are still enjoying Gopeds! I haven't rode one in 10 years. I miss my GSR40 and would def consider building another one someday. Looks like a good time, great vid.
I was also surprised, it had been probably 15 years since I last rode them. I ended up meeting a couple local riders and they were the ones who told me gopeds were still around. I was shocked when I found out they had big group rides. Definitely fun, makes me feel like a kid again.
I had one 22 years ago in highschool lol. I used the xped to jump like a 10 stair gap lol the handlebars almost broke. Oh yea some punk stole my scooter...
Ya it's crazy I never would have thought. I started riding in the 90's and then stopped once I got my license. Didn't ride for years. Got back into them later down the line and just rode solo around the neighborhood. Ended up meeting some local kids and they were the ones that got me into the air tires. They eventually convinced me to make a Facebook and join the gopednation group on there. That's when I realized how big they had gotten.
I've got a motorized bicycle with a gp460 and I just swapped the clutch all I need to do now is service the transmission so I can get it back on the road.
Hey dude what model would you suggest? I want to get one to slowly mod over time? Any help would be awesome im in LA so i might be able to jump in on a group ride MAYBE at some point lol
It really depends where you will be riding and how much money you want to spend. Most people start out with the basic sport model which is the small sized hard tires that are spindle drive. You can find them used on craigslist and offerup for pretty cheap. But they are really only good for short rides around the neighborhood. But it's a good option to get familiar with them without spending a lot of money. Most are priced between $150 - $350. Or you can buy the air tire chain drive "GSR" models like the ones in this video. These will be able to go long distances and are a lot faster but they do require a little more knowledge and cost more than the basic hard tire sports. Personally I would buy the air tire chain drive GSR. You will most likely have more fun. LA has lots of them for sale on craigslist and offerup, not worth it to buy them brand new.
@@dtfprintingsauyo7611 If you end up buying a Goped I would suggest buying used instead of brand new. Depending on where you live, usually you can find one that already has all of the upgraded parts for a lot cheaper than a brand new one with no parts. You will save a lot of money in the end.
I was in the same boat as you, been riding since 1998 and never knew they even had goped rides until a few years ago. I was selling some parts to some local gopedders and they kept telling me to join the gopednation group on Facebook. I never used social media so I declined in the beginning, but eventually I decided to take a look. Once I did join the group I realized the goped scene had blown up and there was tons of rides going on. They post all of the information for the rides in the gopednation group on there. Also tons of parts for sale from all over the country.
Technically GoPed still sells them on their website but they just recently stopped selling the original 2 stroke version. They have now switched to selling them with 4 stroke engines. I would look on Craigslist, offerup or FB Marketplace. It will be a lot cheaper to buy one used that's already been built.
Both have their pros and cons, the exhasut from 2 strokes is bad for the environment, but you do not have to charge the gas scooters. The 2 strokes have a nice powerband that kicks in, the electric is instant power but no powerband. I like the sound of the gas scooters, the electrics are quiet, depends what you prefer. I grew up with gopeds so I will always be biased, I love my gas scooters. Theres some nice electrics out there too though.
Muscle car vs Tesla is a good comparison. I like wrenching on these and tinkering with them too get the most out of them. I just finished rebuilding a friend's Riot just to play with something different and check it out. Some people like building RC cars. It's kind of like that, but I never thought driving RC cars was much fun. Riding a goped is lots of fun. I don't know that there's much tinkering with electric scooters.

Y’all going crazy out there. Stay safe💯
Right on brotha
Dam!!! Thats fast!!
Nice.
Was a long day but definitely a fun ride, thanks for watching

@@BayAreaGoped damn they got chain drive now? Does it have a clutch or what? The direct drives were all that existed when I rode.
They have a centrifugal clutch. I have a GSR, but I think I should have gotten a tail ripper instead. The suspension is great even on asphalt.
Nice! I am very interested in buying one now this year (2022). What is more simpler to maintain a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke engine?
2 stroke will require less maintenance than a 4 stroke.
@@BayAreaGoped thanks!

alguien sabe como o en donde comprar una goped desde Bogotá?.
What ped are you using and what moter?
GSR40 with Oneill Brothers 47cc Signature Series Fatboy
Where do you get performance parts?
Dave's discount motors has most of the stuff.
How much gas ?
Start with a full tank and bring an extra gallon of gas in a backpack.
Why no obr engines in the front
Where were you at Brett? We missed you out there. Redline boys were savages out there
I live in SF I wish I could move to Santa Cruz ...They have a better beach and them park there 🏖🌅🎢🎡🎠🎪🚂🛵🌤
Santa Cruz is nice but I like SF too. Both have their pros and cons but Santa Cruz beaches are definitely a lot nicer.
@@BayAreaGoped I do like SF bus/public transportation . You dont need a car in SF or you could call Lyft or Uber if you go shopping
@@theonlyonestanding8079 Very true, I also like the city because theres a lot more action. I'm in san carlos it's very quiet and boring.
@@BayAreaGoped yah there's free outside parties that our city throw mostly in the spring and summer time
What gearings are you using guys hehe, From Philippines here :>>
Hello thank you for watching. Depending on if we are using slick wheels or regular wheels we usually gear around 8/72 or 9/72
What fell outa ash-goped’s pocket at 9:48 ?
Wow good eyes. I think it was some tools, I don't remember exactly but I stopped him and let him know. He went back and got the stuff.
I've got a goped extreme 49cc new motor if anyone wants it. Chain drive.
ребята, а из местных никто не против такого адового шума который вы устраиваете?
My legs are getting messed up from leg powered toys, I think it's time :).
Sounds like it's time to give them a break. Just be careful these are addicting toys.
Is gas better then electric?
