At 2.33:40 you enter the «Grønbogen tunnel». It’s a spiral tunnel with 738 meter length. This tunnel was the first spiral tunnel ever build in Norway. The purpouse of the spiral tunnel is to gain height from Dombås to the Dovre plateau. At the right hand side on the northern entrance of the tunnel is a quarry for making ia. ballast for the rails.
What a difference good light makes, I really enjoyed watching this, you've got a great view from your office window. A agree with Rolf Persson about adding a few place names, it's surprising how many people like to follow the route using Google Earth, I also know how taxing a long video is on your computer hardware. Great stuff, keep it up, I look forward to seeing more.
It is a totally other world when you actually can watch the rurroundings instead of the tracks and listening to the horn. I`m glad you enjoyed the video. I also got some other ideas and materials lying around, but at the moment I`m just posting the videos that dont need any editing or color corrections. Everything else is too much for this ancient laptop, but in a month or two i wil get some exiting stuff out. Did you get some shots of trains in the snow this winter?
@@FozenMoustache Hi, I have just posted this video showing a little snow on my recent trip to the Czech Republic - "Driver’s Eye View (Czech Republic) - Steam in the Giant Mountains Part 2 - Semily to Stará Paka" I haven't given the link because that usually ensures my answer ends up in your UA-cam Spam Folder. I am sure the view all around is awesome along the routes you drive, you are in a unique position to share what you see, I hope you take the camera to some lineside locations so that we can enjoy seeing trains passing through the wonderful scenery. A more powerful computer will make editing quicker and less frustrating, I'm looking forward to your future uploads.
The video would be of even more interest if you could add some names of the villages we pass by and stations where we stop. Perhaps even names of larger rivers/streems and roads (eg E6)
I'm planning to do that, but my current hardware is not cooperating with me. But I'm in the process upgrading the system and then i wil give all the current videos a little makeover. 👍
Thank you for watching my videos, and i really apreciate the wishes. I`m planning to make a video from Dombås to Trondheim. But because the Corona virus, there is fewer trains running right now. But i will upload some other stuff i hope you will enjoy :)
Hello there! That is a interesting observation, personally i cal them "Church up and Church down". They are there to inform the track maintenance guys to rise and lower the snow plow, for example on a crossing so they dont break their equipment. It can also be placed on other parts of the track where there is delicate infrastructure placed between the tracks :)
I may be wrong, of course, but I think the reason they're going so slowly, is that they're not going fast. It's a bit difficult to go, say 130 km/h and 300 km/h at the same time, you know... You've got to choose one or the other. And once your choise is made, well then... you know... Hope that helps.
That is correct, i dont know what number it was, and where it is now. All the buildings on the left hand side is demolished now as they are building a new base for the new trainset`s that are coming. And there was a group of railway enthusiast taking care of all this equipment, but when thy started building, some things was scrapped and some things is moved other places.
@@FozenMoustache as far as i know there is two preserwed Di’s. 3.602 and 3.616. 602 has the green original colour -as delivered from Nohab factory, and 616 has the red colour. «Jernbaneverket» has 3.628 for railservice and snowcleaning. Painted yellow. But i want to thank you for the superb videos, i enjoy every minute of them. Maybe you in the future can add a video of «Sørlandsbanen» Oslo-Stavanger. As far as i know there’s no video of this route.
@@onlywatching6504 I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Personally i dont know so much about the old NOHAB's, but i know there is a few that is preserved as you say. I don't think i wil add a video from Sørlandsbanen, the Norwegian railroad is now divided into several operators operating on the different lines. Before we only had NSB who was a national railroad company owned by the Norvegian goverment. Now we got VY (NSB), Go Ahead (Operating Sørlandsbanen) and SJ where I'm working, operating Dovrebanen, Nordlandsbanen, Rørosbanen, Meråkerbanen and Trønderbanen.
@@FozenMoustache i was suspecting what you wrote about «Sørlandsbanen» 🧐. Anout the Nohabs i’ve got a answer from a friend of mine that is deep into the subject. The engine at Støren was Nohab Di3-603. This engine was the number two engine in the acident at Bodø station. 603 was running behind 624 which was scrapped after the accident.

What is the general direction we are traveling in on this video... N, S, E, W? Thanks. T4

What do these yellow signs mean that look like a (farm)building (but can also be upside down)?

Why are trains in Norway going so slowly?
130 km/h doesn’t do it for ya, then?

Curves on the lines is the main reason for slow speed.
Is this trip done by an El18 or Bm73?
I'm sorry, the trip was done in a EL18.
Was it a Nohab DI3 on left hand siderail (Støren) at 49:29
