UPDATE!: I realized I actually messed up the part at 4:06. You need to hit the pencil option on the right side of the sequence options, then hit 2x length until you get how many bars you like, and finally adjust the amount of bars. If you don't do this you will get empty spaces in your beat! My bad, I kind of rushed the video.
It's all good 💯💯 a lot of people complain about MPC sequencer. It's just different linear is faster but this way is more fun. Hopefully an update will give us the option to arrange loops on a timeline in the same window
Thank you so much for these! Got my MPC the other night had no idea where to begin! Lol after watching your beginner video I’ve made over 10 beats (well guess sequences) now off to song mode!! 🙌🙌🙌
First time diving into this hobby but I LOVE music. Purchased an MPC One and have been watching videos until it’s delivered. Thank you for posting these tips.
@@boabaumhajo489 actually I was in the middle of a move when it finally got delivered. Didn’t have to learn it. But now that I do, I bought a LIve 2 on sale and sold my One before I learned it. Still learning bro lol
You have no idea how difficult it can be to find good tutorials. You do not talk too much. Sometimes I want that quick tutorial with snappy edits and I can Matrix it up in 2 minutes. I do not want this when I'm learning to sample and chop, or sequence etc. I want you talking about all the details. Great f'ing tutorials. Highly educational. Thank you sir. You made life a little easier for me today.
recently bought my first mpc. one thing ill never regret. my pc now runs maybe 5min per day and i am having a ton of fun making beats with this thing but theres obviously alot i have to learn still and this is where your content comes in super handy. i appreciate the good work. thx for the guides man!!
Best tutorials on UA-cam watched the circuit rhythm one had that mastered after watching .. now got the mpc one yesterday and I'm already half way there thanks to theses tutorials ..
Your videos on the MPC One pushed me over the edge to making the purchase. Never owned any MPC or MPK hardware, really looking forward to learning more from you once mine is delivered. Thank you!
Congrats. Best purchase I ever made too. Changed the way I approach making music. You gotta watch a ton of videos though because there are just too many ways to use it. Its incredible how powerful it is. One example is Bouncing tracks to Sample....make complex tracks, mute out parts...Bounce them to Sample....create a new project...browse for the samples....make a song from them in Song Mode.....too much fun!
Very nice, this very mode is one of the reasons I went with the MPC over the Machine. Sequences within sequences gets really powerful when you start thinking about something like an intro->verse->chorus ->verse->chrous ->bridge / drop ->chorus ->chorus ->end. Each place where I put a space in in this kind of setup, you can do things like simply adding or removing effects, or using automation for effects for some crazy variety. For example, my bridge / drops, I like to use the lowfi filter with the distortion fx and really amp it up, and then keep that same fx on for the first chorus after the drop, then take those filters off when the chorus repeats near the end. Then, you can start doing really crazy things like my current project, a 1 hour 12 minute continuous audio file that contains six songs that seemlessly transition into the next song (no gap between a song ending). While I pretty much know how to use the MPC, I just wish they would fix some of the quirky things, like, I dunno, when I make a new track, why would it not be automatically selected? Also, if you have a spare MPC Live 2, Ill take it, I really could use the external speakers, I still have the MPC Live 1 and the external speakers would be great for writing at work (currently have to tote around usb powered speakers)
I'm a producer that came over from Maschine to MPC and all I can say is, "what took me so long?". Its been one week w the Mpc One and I'm already making better beats than imagined. Still trying to get this song mode down pact. Once I do, it's over. Thanks for helping me.
Ave, you deserve the support you're getting brother; truly a gem of a video. This topic was key for visual people accustomed to a more linear song approach, like myself. Keep the videos coming; they are helping my grasp of the MPC grow exponentially.
I just bought my mpc one and am extremely overwhelmed. Ive owned the MC 909, korg emx 1, and the boss 505, but the mpc is not a groove box like the others listed. That said, I'm not giving up, just will take longer to get things down. There's no doubt that this be the center piece of my studio
Hey, I just got my MPC ONE about 5 days ago and, while being a lifelong music LOVER but never trying to learn any 'real' instruments, lol (and wanting to MAKE TECHNO, EDM, ETC. this purchase was a no-brainer) I am DEFINTELY STILL a baby when it comes to 'production' but can already see the PROMISE and CAPABILITIES of this machine! It sounds like YOU have at heart SINCE experience with drum machines, synths, etc whereas this is the FIRST piece of hardware I've EVER bought besides flirting with DJ'ing and buying a pair of used TECHNICS, a mixer and some monitors back in '01-'02 when I was 21 which I never really ended up doing much with them after my monitors broke and i sold them😔 (Hell! Who knows how good I'd be if stuck WITH IT since then? Anyway, good luck my friend and just remember to HAVE FUN!! That's pretty much why I bought the MPC ONE! I felt that is NEVER too late to start something new and although I may not be out RAVING all weekend, I ABSOLUTELY STILL LOVE THE MUSIC and I think it's about time I scratch my creative itch!.... Which I KNOW this machine is CAPABLE OF DOING!😜🤪
I sent $5 🙏 Thank u again BROTHA I told my old producer that for years when been doing it wrong..every sequence was a new beat lol instead of what I just seen u do.thats the secrets way easier 😂😂😂 Mad Love From Compton
Nice tutorial. One thing it skipped over that I found out the hard way, is that before you copy a sequence for use in a song, you need to make sure that all the tracks use the same length as the sequence they're tied to. I had a few tracks with just 2 bar tracks inside an 8 bar sequence. That works well within the sequence itself, but apparently, when copying it into a song, those 2 bar tracks will just play for 2 bars, then silence for bars 3-8 until it loops again. Really bizarre song mode behavior if you ask me. So the lesson learned here is: be sure to copy bars inside the tracks to fill them all up to whichever length you have for the entire sequence, before thinking about converting it into a proper song.
hey man out of every person i've watched on the mpc one you are the most helpful and you dont drive me crazy this one video i was trying to learn from i had t re start it a few times and the dude would say its really easy dont get mad at the start.... needless to say after having to start it over like 6 times i found your vids and lets just say your verbage and overall content is awesome keep it up man thanks man! ive had this a week and you have taught me more in 10 min than i have done this whole time
Video was a huge help and you explain better than a lot of people making these videos can you please do a video on Quantizing drums to get the real life timing and swing ..and what your process is on that thanks 💯
Ave many many thanks for this video I’m new to mpc world and I’ve listened to a few on workflow but I must say you’re one of best at teaching the Akai product line I believe they should be sponsoring you t for the work you put in. Thanks from London.
Thanks for all the help!!! I'm new to the MPC world and your videos have been pivotal for leaning how to use it. The manual that it comes with is useless. Keep up the great work. You just got yourself another subscriber.
I appreciate you bro, I feel you giving away a million dollars worth of knowledge with these videos, I’m old but new to this and you’re making it a lot easier 🙏🏾🙏🏾
i like this channel man i can make this my learning channel. picked up my mpc one today, really excited to start running beats off my mpc and having it clock my other kit. i got the rane twelves and a loopstation all going into an analogue desk which has some nice pre amps so i feel like i can finally do some nice tunrtable style tracks using synths etc.... i dont wanna go to sleep tonight haha. great work man thanks.
Thanks man...that was very helpful. I could use help recording my Midi synth tracks into the MPC, and using it like it's own DAW. No idea how to do that yet.
I wish I could give your videos more than one thumbs up, Man you're a lifesaver on so many levels 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. Please keep up the amazing work and videos!!
Great video. Been 4 days since I got a mpc and I'm surprised by all the features. I have some other gear and was just looking to replace my korg Electribe but it pretty much rendered everything in my studio obsolete, except the synthesizer.
Excellent video. I just started using Song Mode myself. Up until recently I was ignoring it and recording my songs using multiple tracks and track mute. But now I am really liking Song Mode. How about a video on the Looper (and specifically recording resampling of MPC One sounds) and then Bouncing to Sample. It's a great way to make quick samples or parts of songs and then arrange in Song Mode.
This was helpful. A good introduction to song mode, and how to use it. Subscribed. Can't believe how much power is packed inside the MPC One. Thanks for helping me get the most, out of mine. Best wishes for your continued success.

This was probably the simplest down to earth tutorial on how to arrange a song in MPC standalone. Well done sir!👍
I aint heard a good beat made from you tubers yet on this thing....they dum as heck...lol you alrught tho
Extremely helpful for a 61 year old who just got a mpc one+. I have so many questions on so many other topics. I will search your videos. Thank you
Cool! Hope you’re having fun with it!
Ave, i keep coming back to this video when I've forgotten the workflow and everytime i'm glad I did. simple explanation that works. thanks buddy!
